I love you more than songs can say, but I can't keep running after yesterday...
John Mayer (John Mayer - Battle Studies (Play It Like It Is Guitar))
How dare you say it's nothing to me? Baby, you're the only light I ever saw.
John Mayer (Continuum (Play It Like It Is: Guitar with Tablature))
This is not to say, there never comes a day I'll take my chances and start again. And when I look behind on all my younger times, I'll have to thank the wrongs that led me to a love so strong.
John Mayer (John Mayer - Battle Studies (Play It Like It Is Guitar))
Half of my heart is a shotgun wedding To a bride with a paper ring And half of my heart is the part of a man Who's never truly loved anything
John Mayer (John Mayer - Battle Studies (Play It Like It Is Guitar))
There's no need for heartbreak warfare. It's called 'I love you' — 'I love you too'. 'I need more love' — 'You got more love', and you can get through life like that. Shouldn't you just on days where you want more love be like 'I had a bad dream that you were sleeping around, it's really irrational, but just love me extra today'. Why can't we just have this thing where you just say 'Just love me extra today'. If I was with somebody and they said 'Love me extra today', I would love them extra forever.

You love who you love, who you love

Fathers be good to your daughters. Daughters will love like you do. Girls become lovers who turn in mothers. So, mothers be good to your daughters too.
John Mayer (Continuum (Play It Like It Is: Guitar with Tablature))
Fathers be good to your daughters. Daughters will love like you do. Girls become lovers who turn into mothers. So, mothers be good to your daughters too.
John Mayer (Continuum (Play It Like It Is: Guitar with Tablature))
I know a girl She puts the color inside of my world But she's just like a maze Where all of the walls all continually change And I've done all I can To stand on her steps with my heart in my hands Now I'm starting to see Maybe it's got nothing to do with me Fathers, be good to your daughters Daughters will love like you do Girls become lovers who turn into mothers So mothers, be good to your daughters too

Fuck, I’ve had this song stuck on repeat for the last week. Do you like John Mayer?” My hands skim his broad shoulders, grazing the knotted muscles that ripple beneath the surface, and I run a palm up the nape of his neck, a strong desire to twine my fingers in the chestnut waves peeking out from his toque. “I love him.” “What’s your favorite song?” My mouth quirks to the side. “I’ve got two.” “Gimme your most favorite first.” My face warms as I avoid his gaze. “‘Slow Dancing in a Burning Room.’” A slow, sad song, two people who are destined to fail together, kind of like whatever the hell it is we’re doing right now. There’s no way this ends well. It’s bound to go up in flames; we’re just denying the inevitable.
Becka Mack (Consider Me (Playing For Keeps, #1))
It is obvious that if many bishops had acted like Msgr. de Castro Mayer, Bishop of Campos in Brazil, the ideological revolution within the Church could have been limited, because we must not be afraid to affirm that the current Roman authorities, since John XXIII and Paul VI, have made themselves active collaborators of international Freemasonry and of world socialism. John Paul II is above all a communist-loving politician at the service of a world communism retaining a hint of religion. He openly attacks all of the anti-communist governments and does not bring, by his travels, any Catholic revival. These conciliar Roman authorities cannot but oppose savagely and violently any reaffirmation of the traditional Magisterium. The errors of the Council and its reforms remain the official standard consecrated by the Profession of Faith of Cardinal Ratzinger in March 1989.

It's a Sunday night, a night never to be trusted for emotions. So, a lot of you guys are going to head home and either receive texts in the dead of night or actually compose them that are not going to be fully representative of how you feel for the rest of the day, for the rest of your week. Then you'll be reaching out, and if you're not reaching out, you'll have someone else reaching out to you. And your friends, and your brain, and your morals, and your conscience have all trained you not to respond. But I'm going to go against the grain and I'm going to suggest that the next time you get a message from the one you love, the only person in the world you love and can't talk to, that you respond. And you just write back when they ask you if you're up, and you're up, just write back, "Yup, come on over." ‘Cause life is just too short to keep playing the game. ‘Cause if you really want somebody, you'll figure it out later. Otherwise, you'll be lying in bed with a Blackberry on your chest staring at it, doing nothing for the rest of the night, hoping that it goes, "PRRR, PRRR, PRRR." If you love someone, if you love someone, if you love someone, if you love somebody, if you love someone, don’t say a word. Say, don’t say a word, just come over. Just come over, just come over, don't say a word, just come over. Let me cry all over you, let me wish that you were someone different. If you love someone…

What I would love other people to understand is that there is no more reason to have to adhere to any given idea of cool. Especially post-pandemic, which for the first time in anyone’s lives stopped the clock on the hyper-modern day trade of culture.

I've tried every approach to living, and I've tried it all. I haven't tried everything, but I've tried every approach. Sometimes you have to try everything to get the approach the same, but I tried it all. I bought a bunch of stuff and went, “Eh, I don't like that.” I kinda came in and out of that a couple of times. I thought I would shut myself off. I thought, “Maybe that's cool. Maybe that's what you have to do to be a genius. Is it you have to be mad?” So if you get mad before the word genius, then maybe you can make genius appear, right? That doesn't work either. And I'm in a good place. I've paced myself pretty well. I'm thirty. I've seen some cool stuff. I made a lot of stuff happen for myself. I made a lot of stuff happen for myself, right? That's a really cool sentence when you're in your twenties: “I made it happen for myself.” But all that means is that I've just somehow or another found another way to synthesize love or synthesize soothing. Or you can't get that. And what I'm saying is that I've messed with all the approaches, except for one, and it's gonna sound really corny, but that's just love. That's just love. I've done everything in my life that I've wanted to do except just give and feel love for my living. And I don't mean like Roman-candle-firework-Hollywood-hot-pink-love. I mean like, “I got your back,” love! I don't need to hear, “I love you.” You guys love me. I love you. We got that down. But some of the people who will tell you they love you, the same people who're gonna last, just have your back. So I'm gonna experiment with this “love” thing. Giving love, feeling love. I know it sounds really corny, but it's the last thing I got to check out before I check out. Take me in the solo one more time. Make it loud! Thank you!
