It is not the outer objects that entangle us. It is the inner clinging that entangles us." - Tilopa

No thought,no reflection,no analysis,no cultivation,no intention;let it settle itself.Relax "Tilopa
Tilopa (Instructions in Mahamudra - a translation of the Ganga Mahamudra Upadesha of Tilopa)
Energy can have two dimensions. One is motivated, going somewhere, a goal somewhere, this moment is only a means and the goal is going to be the dimension of activity, goal oriented--then everything is a means, somehow it has to be done and you have to reach the goal, then you will relax. But for this type of energy the goal never comes because this type of energy goes on changing every present moment into a means for something else, into the future. The goal always remains on the horizon. You go on running, but the distance remains the same. No, there is another dimension of energy: that dimension is unmotivated celebration. The goal is here, now; the goal is not somewhere else. In fact, you are the goal. In fact there is no other fulfillment than that of this moment--consider the lilies. When you are the goal and when the goal is not in the future, when there is nothing to be achieved, rather you are just celebrating it, then you have already achieved it, it is there. This is relaxation, unmotivated energy.
Osho (Tantra: The Supreme Understanding - Discourses on the Tantric Way of Tilopa's Song of Mahamudra)
happens to people. Tilopa was joking; he was saying that if you try to stop a thought you cannot. On the contrary, the very effort to stop it gives it energy; the very effort to avoid it becomes attention. So, whenever you want to avoid something you are paying too much attention to it. If you want not to think a thought, you are already thinking about it. Remember
Osho (Tantra: The Supreme Understanding)
They were the good old days. Don't give up hope in the bad new days, which will become the good old days. We appreciate Kennedy because he was killed; Martin Luther King was a great man. If you'd meet Naropa or Tilopa on the spot you'd be pissed off. History is very deceptive, reality is more important. There is a piece of philosophy for you.
Chögyam Trungpa (The Great River of Blessings: The Rinchen Terdzö in Orissa, India)
People can be helped By the truth of your brokenness, But not by the lie of your wholeness.
Tilopa
Tilopa, seeing that Naropa was attached to the teachings, said: The instructions are only a sign, Leading to yet greater happiness. Do not be attached to the teachings of the Lama.
Khenpo Konchog Gyaltsen (The Great Kagyu Masters: The Golden Lineage Treasury)
if we are attached to our own tenets, view, and practice we will not realize Mahamudra.
Sangyes Nyenpa Rinpoche (Tilopa's Mahamudra Upadesha: The Gangama Instructions with Commentary)
Who is the yogi who abides in a nonconceptual state? One who rightly abides without projections, in peace, with all fabrication of subject-object duality extinct; that is a yogi.
Sangyes Nyenpa Rinpoche (Tilopa's Mahamudra Upadesha: The Gangama Instructions with Commentary)
To realize Mahamudra we really need to have accumulated vast meritorious energy at some time in the past. That karma needs to be awakened in this life through intense and persistent aspiration and devotion to the holy guru as well as timely reliance upon the holy guru. This is what is necessary for Mahamudra realization. Any proliferation and collection

At first a yogi feels his mind Is tumbling like a waterfall; In midcourse, like the Ganges, It flows on slow and gentle; In the end, it is a great Vast ocean, where the lights Of child and mother merge in one. — The Song of Tilopa (988–1069)

You must stir up the Thought-Mind With the stick of inquiry…until All thoughts are consumed in the Fire of Bliss-Emptiness…and then Lastly, throw the stick in as well.

without developing compassion On the Mahayana path, You seek in the wrong direction? How will you find the Guru to accept you, When you look down on others?
Kiley Clark (Stones to Shatter the Stainless Mirror:: The Fearless Teachings of Tilopa to Naropa (Dharma-Path Books))
At the end of twelve years of “torture,” Tilopa gave the final pointing-out instructions to Naropa in a very simple way. Naropa was already exhausted and fragile at that point. The story goes that they were walking along and Tilopa took off a sandal and whacked Naropa’s forehead, saying something like “You still don’t get it, my son, do you?” Naropa fainted, and when he regained consciousness, it is said that his realization of Mahamudra was equal to that of his teacher. The final transmission was very simple and ordinary. It did not involve the uttering of any mantras, which we usually don’t understand anyway, or any elaborate ceremonies. Tilopa just said, “You still don’t get it, do you?” and then whacked Naropa with his sandal.
