Have you ever really had a teacher? One who saw you as a raw but precious thing, a jewel that, with wisdom, could be polished to a proud shine?
Mitch Albom
Said to Mitch Album in "Tuesday's with Morrie": "The culture we have does not make people feel good about themselves. We're teaching the wrong things and you have to be strong enough to say if the culture doesn't work, don't buy it! CREATE YOUR OWN!

Have you ever really had a teacher? One who saw you as a raw but precious thing, a jewel that, with wisdom, could be polished to a proud shine? If you are lucky enough to find your way to such teachers, you will always find your way back. Sometimes it is only in your head. Sometimes it is right alongside their beds
Mitch Albom (Tuesdays with Morrie)
Monday night is actually Tuesday evening in the Arabic calendar since Arabic day begins with sunset. ‘The secrets of Tuesday’s darkness, coinciding with stone hard and deceased animals hurled at a human territory …’ The words he read decades ago now bloom in his memory. It was in a book from Ruem’s collection. How can he remember it so clearly? Why does he remember it? Why now?

[it] isn't something you just get over. You don't go back to being who you were. It's more like a snow globe. War shakes you up, and suddenly all those pieces of your life - muscles, bones, thoughts, beliefs, relationships, even your dreams - are floating in the air out of your grip. They'll come down. I'm here to tell you that, with hard work, you'll recover. But they'll never come down where they once were. You're a changed person after combat. Not better or worse, just different.
Luis Carlos Montalván (Until Tuesday: A Wounded Warrior and the Golden Retriever Who Saved Him)
All right, it's just fear, I don't have to let it control me. I see it for what it is.
Mitch Albom (Tuesdays with Morrie)
I decided I"m going to live-or at least try to live- the way I want, with dignity, with courage, with humor, with composure.
Mitch Albom (Tuesdays with Morrie)
Dying," Morrie suddenly said, "is only one thing to be sad over, Mitch. Living unhappily is something else. So many of the people who come to visit me are unhappy.
Mitch Albom (Tuesdays with Morrie)
Listen. You should know something. All younger people should know something. If you're always battling against getting older, you're always going to be unhappy, because it will happen again any how.

So many people walk around with a meaningless life. They seem half asleep even when they're busy doing things they think are important. This is because they're chasing the wrong things. The way you get meaning into your life is to devote yourself to loving others, devote yourself to creating something that gives you purpose and meaning.
Mitch Albom (Tuesdays with Morrie)
It's very simple. As you grow, you learn more. IF you stayed at twenty-two, you'd always be as ignorant as you were at twenty-two. Aging is not just decay, you know. It's growth. It's more then the negative that you're going to die, it's also the positive that you understand your going to die, and that you live a better life because of it.
Mitch Albom (Tuesdays with Morrie)
You hear often in stories and songs and movies about the ONE person whose love will be everything to you, who will be everything you ever needed. What you will find, however, is that people give what they have. We are wired differently, and we will give our love differently. You will find people whose love feeds your mind, and people whose love feeds your sense of humor, and people whose love you can count on at 2:00 a.m. on a random Tuesday. When you let all of those different kinds of love into your spirit, it will smooth out the rough spots, filling in the tiny spaces left behind from moments of pain and misunderstanding. One person may not fill the role of providing every kind of love you need, and that is what makes life interesting.

My dear Pooh," said Owl, "everybody knows that it's spelled with a Two." "Is it?" asked Pooh. "Of course," said Owl. "After all, it's the second day of the week." "Oh, is that the way it works?" asked Pooh. "All right, Owl," I said. "Then what comes after Twosday?" "Thirdsday," said Owl. "Owl, you're just confusing things," I said. "This is the day after Tuesday, and it's not Thirds — I mean, Thursday." "Then what is it?" asked Owl. "It's Today!" squeaked Piglet. "My favorite day," said Pooh.

You do not have to respond to a tiny annoying mosquito with a large hammer. You know what will happen? You will miss and hurt yourself.

I was grateful I'd been in a plane crash. I got to see my grandfather every single day for months. If that plane hadn't plummeted, we would have stalled at spaghetti Tuesdays. And that's the truth. ... And I didn't ask God why I was in the random plane crash that caused Grandpa to come and live with us. I just bit my lip and said, Thank you.

You don’t need to know tonight, on a Tuesday at four o’clock in the morning what to do, because you don’t know and you won’t know until you do know. But in the meantime, you need to sleep, because you need your rest and you need your strength. Go back to bed; we’re getting there. When you know, you’ll do it.

Tuesday, January 27 Nothing Is Impossible with God For with God nothing is ever impossible and no word from God shall be without power or impossible of fulfillment. LUKE 1:37 AMP Gabriel, the archangel tasked with telling Mary that she would be the mother of the promised Messiah, spoke these words to her when she asked how such a thing could happen when she wasn’t married. She responded with humility and submitted to the Lord’s will. Two other times in scripture an angel announces a birth to couples who in human years were too old for such a thing to happen. When the angel told Abraham that Sarah would conceive and have a son within the year, Sarah laughed. When the angel asked why she laughed, she denied it at first and then said she was too old. The angel responded that nothing was too hard for God. And it happened as God said it would. Then Sarah’s laughter of unbelief turned into joy. Several months before Gabriel appeared to Mary, he showed up in the temple where a priest named Zechariah was sacrificing the daily offering. Gabriel told him that he and his wife, Elizabeth, would have a son in their old age. The child would be the forerunner to the promised Messiah. Zechariah’s unbelief led to losing his voice for the next nine months until his son was born and he gave him the name the angel had said. God delights in doing the impossible, waiting until the perfect time to fulfill His Word. Father, give me faith to believe Your Word as Mary received the news of Jesus’ birth, knowing that nothing is too hard for You.
