Embellishment is often used to create grandiose accounts of a personโs accomplishments. For instance, a job applicant may include that they were at the top of their class in college when, in reality, they were in the middle of the pack. Another type of embellishment is โname dropping.โ This is commonly used by manipulators to appear that they are connected despite having very loose connections, at best, with the people they are mentioned.

NLP subliminals have long since been used in advertising and marketing, and yet people are still ignorant about it because the government keeps the information suppressed since it is an integral part of their arsenal for marketing their own agenda to a socially engineered population. Simon Leigh Pure Reputation, The Role of AI in Online Reputation Management (ORM)
Artificial Intelligence (AI) plays a transformative role in Online Reputation Management by automating monitoring, analysis, and response to online content. AI-powered tools scan social media, review platforms, forums, and news sites in real time to detect mentions of a brand or individual. Through sentiment analysis, AI evaluates whether the mentions are positive, negative, or neutral, helping businesses gauge public perception instantly.
AI also enables predictive analytics, identifying emerging reputation risks before they escalate. Chatbots and automated response systems use natural language processing (NLP) to manage customer interactions quickly and consistently. Additionally, AI supports content generation and SEO optimization, ensuring positive brand stories and authoritative profiles rank higher in search results.
Overall, AI enhances ORM by making it faster, data-driven, and proactive, allowing organizations to protect and strengthen their digital reputation efficiently.

People should want to do things for you just because they want to and not what they can get out of it. This is one of the most common forms of manipulation. You feel like someone is being nice to you and doing things for you when you need them. But there always seems to be a catch or something involved. If you donโt adhere to those stipulations, then they make you feel ungrateful, like you are taking advantage of their kindness.

Leading Questions This involves the dark persuader questions that trigger some response from the victim. A persuader may ask a question like, โdo you really think so-and-so is that mean?โ This question implies that the person being referred to is bad in one way or another. An example of a non-leading question is, โwhat do you think about so-and-so?โ When using leading questions, dark persuaders ensure that they are carefully worded. Dark persuaders know that once the victim feels like they are being led in order to trigger a certain response from them, they will become more resistant to being persuaded. When the manipulator gets a feeling that the victim appears to be catching on, they will immediately change tactics and return to asking the leading questions only when the victim has dropped their guard. This is a tactic commonly used in interviews or during interrogation, such as when police is questioning a suspect.

โ
The most skilled manipulators are able to mix lies with the truth. This enables them to paint a more credible illusion as the kernels of truth embedded in the illusion gives those around them the impression that what they are saying is actually real. As a result, they may get away with their lies. However, please bear in mind that the devil is in the details. So, if you knit pick long enough, you may find that you are dealing with an impostor. Thatโs why itโs always a good idea to take everything you hear with a grain of salt. If you choose to take everything you hear at face value, you may become disappointed when you realize that you believed someone who was deliberately trying to fool you.

Think about advertisers. Brand positioning is not something that happens overnight. As a matter of fact, positioning a brand is an endeavor that takes a long time, often years. But once the brand is positioned, they become entrenched in the minds of consumers. And while there is nothing wrong with positioning a brand over time based on quality products and good service, the manipulative aspect of this type of advertising occurs when advertisers do their best to persuade consumers of their brand. As such, there is no substantial quality of product behind the brand but just clever advertising. So, itโs up to consumers to discern if a product is really worth all the hype. Nevertheless, most consumers fall to the hype surrounding the brand.

โ
Putting the Other Person Down The manipulator has other options available to help them reach their ultimate goal. One tactic that can be quite effective consists in putting their target down on a regular basis. However, this isnโt done through insults or threats. This covert technique is very useful because the manipulator uses it in a very subtle manner. This can be seen in the abundant use of sarcasm or perhaps passive-aggressive attacks. For example, the manipulator may say, โdonโt we look lovely todayโ when it is clear that the victim is not at their best. A passive-aggressive approach might be something like, โIโm just going to have to take you in for a good scrubbing and a haircut.โ It might say in a playful tone, but the subtext is far more sinister. As for the target, they may not realize that they are the subject of manipulation. They may feel terrible as a result of the interaction, but may not realize that they are being deliberately acted upon by the manipulator. Consequently, the target is left to wonder is what the motives might be for being treated in such a manner. Honestly, it doesnโt really matter, at least not to the manipulator. What does matter is that the target is left feeling vulnerable and exposed. This is where the manipulator can make the most of their efforts. When a victim is left feeling defenseless, the manipulator is in a prime position to take advantage ([27]). On the contrary, if a person feels safe and empowered, the likelihood of them being manipulated is quite low. Thatโs why manipulators prey upon people with low self-esteem. If a person has high self-esteem, then they wonโt be easily manipulated. If anything, put-downs and insults will spark a defensive reaction. That would leave the manipulator with no choice but to move on to the next victim.
โ
โ
William Cooper (Dark Psychology and Manipulation: Discover 40 Covert Emotional Manipulation Techniques, Mind Control, Brainwashing. Learn How to Analyze People, NLP Secret ... Effect, Subliminal Influence Book 1))
โ
Covert Deception Masking true intentions of the dark persuader is another tactic a manipulator will use to get what they want. A dark persuader will disguise their true intentions from their victims and can use different approaches depending on their victims and the surrounding circumstances. One approach a dark persuader can use is using two requests consecutively because people find it hard to refuse two requests in a row. Take this example; a manipulator wants $500 from their victim. The dark persuader will begin by explaining why they are needed of $1000 while stating what will happen if they are not able to come up with that amount. The victim may feel some form of guilt or compassion, but will kindly explain to the manipulator that they cannot lend the amount because, quite frankly, it is more than they can manage to give. This is when the persuader will lessen the amount to $500, which was what they wanted from the beginning. They will attach the amount with some emotional reason where the victim will be unable to refuse the second request. The dark persuader walks away with the original sum, and the victim is left confused about what took place.

EXERCISE 10: DEVELOPING A GRAND VISION You may want to do this exercise alone, out in a natural setting somewhere. 1. See Your Interests, Values, and Abilities. The next step is to discover how your interests and your deep values connect into and form your mission. It can be accomplished by seeing a grand, whole, meaningful image of what purpose you could dedicate your life to. This will be formed from your interests, values, and present goals. Begin to play with the images that you see, which represent some kind of direction that you want to take. As you get a sense of what your mission can be, see various snapshots of yourself doing what you love to do, snapshots of your abilities. 2. Focus on Heroes and Heroines. Take a look at what your favorite heroes or heroines do. See yourself doing things that give you the same feeling you get when you think of them. See snapshots of the person you want to become. Any images you donโt like can fade away. 3. Direct a Movie of Yourself. See yourself the way you want to beโdoing the things you love to do. Whatever you choose to put on the screen, youโre the Spielberg, youโre the director. See the images that you feel passionate about. You can play with the images in front of you. Pretend that youโre in the middle of an inner, three-dimensional movie theater. Itโs a place where you can see and hear and feel with great fidelity. Notice how much you can see, letting the wisdom from within guide the visual display that you see in front of you. Visualize it, feel it, enjoy it. The images are often up close and in full, rich color. See yourself living out a scenario that gives you tingles in your spine. You can zoom in on that glorious, fun-filled, exciting future that you see. It allows you to do what you love to do and accomplish what you believe in. 4. Recall Your Deep Values. List your deep values as you watch your mission scenario. Notice how your values and your images can fit together with a remarkable consistency. 5. Ask for Help from Your Inner Wisdom. Ask for your inner wisdom, the higher powers, or God to guide your grand vision. This vision is going to be more of a discovery than a creation. Let it come to you. Ask and it will come. Take the time to see and hear those aspects of life that unify into a whole that you feel a powerful passion for. See some more images. See some time going by. See various bright, radiant, up-close, colorful images of what it is that you could create in your life. They can begin going in a certain direction, coalescing and representing many of your current goals, some of the things that you want. See them develop into a kind of grand visionary collection of images that represents your purpose and your mission. 6. Do What It Takes. Take whatever time you needโfive minutes, an hour, a whole afternoon. This is your life, your future that you are creating. When you finish, write it down. Your images are so attractive, you have some glimpses of what your mission is. Now you can develop it more fully. Ask the visionary in you to give you the gift of this grand vision. Now that you can see your grand vision of what you want to contribute to, you can make that vision into a cause to work forโa specific direction to channel your efforts to.

Bandler and Grinderโs work with Virginia Satir and their exploration of parts also led to the principle of positive intention. Simply put, the principle states that at some level all behavior is (or at one time was) โpositively intended.โ Another way to say it is that all behavior serves (or at one time served) a โpositive purposeโ โ i.e., every โneuro-linguistic programโ emerges and lasts because it serves some type of adaptive function. While I liked the principle, at first it seemed mostly like a nice philosophical idea. Like everything else in NLP, however, it eventually became a very personal experience that changed my life. It did not come in a flash of blinding light as to St. Paul on the road to Damascus. It was subtler. But the moment that I deeply realized all of my behaviors had some type of positive intention, even if I did not immediately recognize what it was, something shifted inside of me that led to a deep trust in my own being; that somehow, as Einstein proposed, โthe universe is a friendly placeโ at its core. Even today the principle of positive intention seems to me to be the most spiritual principle in NLP.

Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) and working with the subconscious mind. NLP is a different approach to mental mastery. It is the scientific impact that language has on the subconscious mind. An array of modalities and language patterns are implemented to bypass the loud, chattery, brain bullshit, which gets in the way of resourceful thinking. It also takes the traumas we have stored in our subconscious, from years of repetitive thinking and behaviors, and makes us consciously aware of them, so we can implement the tools and experience positive and lasting change at a brain and cellular level.

Context: Where am I when a particular experience takes place, in what environment, and who else is around? Behavior: What physical and verbal behaviors do I have in that context? What do I do? What do I say? Capabilities: What emotional and physical skills do I exhibit? For example, am I confident or nervous? Beliefs and values: What are the beliefs I hold about myself, the world, and my place in it, when I am in this context? What values do I hold in this context; what is important to me? Meta-programs: What are the underlying behavioral and neurological patterns that drive my behavior? For example, am I moving towards a specific outcome, or moving away from risk? These drivers are called meta-programs in NLP, and we will be talking about them more in a later chapter. Identity: Considering everything else, what is my identity in this context? Am I a leader? Am I a follower? Am I exploring? Am I creating? Am I teaching? What is my role? Beyond identity: How do I fit in with everybody else around me in this context? This could be my family, my colleagues at work, my teammates, my friends and neighbors, or whoever is part of this context. How do I fit in with the bigger picture, with God or the divine, however you perceive that to be?

The thing to realize about beliefs is that they are not intended to match existing reality. They are intended to provide a motivation and a vision so that your actual behavior can begin to develop and rise to meet them.

You can only lead people to change their own beliefs. It is not up to you to change somebody else's belief. The goal is to pace and lead them into establishing a new belief for themselves.

There is no such thing as failure, only feedback. We are always producing a result; if itโs not what we want, we can use the unwanted result as feedback to guide us in experimenting with other choices.

You know how difficult it is to live among people with so many different emotions if you are an empath. You also know, deep inside, that this is a gift, a super-power. Yet, in a society that glorifies the ultra-strong, being sensitive is frequently seen as a weakness or a problem that needs to be fixed, rather than a gift to be embraced.
