Holy sea turtles!" - Arabella Valli, The Equinox (Book Two of the Summer Solstice Series)
K.K. Allen (The Equinox (Summer Solstice, #2))
Nothing belongs to itself anymore. These trees are yours because you once looked at them. These streets are yours because you once traversed them. These coffee shops and bookshops, these cafés and bars, their sole owner is you. They gave themselves so willingly, surrendering to your perfume. You sang with the birds and they stopped to listen to you. You smiled at the sheepish stars and they fell into your hair. The sun and moon, the sea and mountain, they have all left from heartbreak. Nothing belongs to itself anymore. You once spoke to Him, and then God became yours. He sits with us in darkness now to plot how to make you ours.” K.K.
Kamand Kojouri
There is so much I could say about myself, but I wish you know only this; at times I may be bitter, at times I may be sweet; do not judge me on one character or the other. I have more facets than a jewel, I ask that you understand all of me before you judge me. No one side of my personality is bigger than another, just as no one emotion claims me all the time.

Darkness is no longer something I fear. Not when the light lives within me. Because that’s the thing about weaknesses. They somehow have the power to make you stronger.

There's so many dimensions to me. I am not a flat surface that can express myself like a painting, but more like a sculpture that you have to see all of before you can understand.
K.K. Cook
Be weary of the unknown inside of every human being, but do not fear it, embrace it.
K.K. Cook
Everyone’s past has ways of sneaking up on them. You just have to be in a place in the present that you’re strong enough to deal with when your past comes to visit.
K.K. Hendin (Heart Breaths)
Changing your location doesn’t necessarily mean losing your problems. They’ll show up wherever you are, changing to fit the situation. But until you break them down and deal with it, there is nowhere far enough for you to run away from them.
K.K. Hendin (Heart Breaths)

K.K. Allen (Defying Gravity)
From earliest childhood, an arrow of grief has been embedded in my heart. As long as it remains there, I am ironic — if it is drawn out, I will die.
Søren Kierkegaard (Soren Kierkegaard's Journals and Notebooks, Vol. 2: Journals EE-KK)
He looked like he wanted to eat you." With that, I throw my head back and laugh. "That man has no problem finding a meal. I highly doubt he's starving." She scrunches her nose to show me she doesn't agree. "Well, maybe he just spotted something new on the menu. You know men and their food; they have to try a little bit of everything until they're completely satisfied.
K.K. Allen (Up in the Treehouse)
Chocolate. The food of the gods, as my grandma used to call it. And I totally agree. It’s the answer to prayers. Emotional relief. A form of currency. An aphrodisiac. Raw and dark. White and saccharine. Milky sweet. Mouthwatering. It’s all good; I don’t discriminate.
K.K. Allen
Yes, for there I was, outside of society, destitute, torn between transformations, between beast and god. What other paths could I have taken? No, it was worth corrupting myself slightly, if corruption it truly was, for any filth on my soul would be washed out and countered tenfold—all corruptions sanctified in the purity of the ideal at hand.
K.K. Edin (The Measurements of Decay)

K.K. Allen (Defying Gravity)
If I couldn't be myself with the people I chose to surround myself with, then I wasn't being real. And I'd made a promise to never allow myself to be anything other than who I was- unapologetically.
K.K. Allen (Defying Gravity)
Our love wasn't just written in the stars. Our love was the stuff stars and planets were made of. They had created them and told the story of our past, present, and future combined. And there was only room to grow.
K.K. Allen (Defying Gravity)
But, of course, I had no proof for any of these enticing thoughts. Cursed proof! Cursed proof. Proof: flimsy, false, ethereal fugitive, hiding at the end of a regress that runs out the world itself. No need for proof.
K.K. Edin (The Measurements of Decay)
You brought me back to life at a time I needed it most. If you think if you think I’m giving up on you now then you’re wrong. I get a second chance to show you exactly what you mean to me – and just how far I’ll go to keep you.
K.K. Allen (Weight of Regret (Camp Bexley, #1))
Me and Brian had a choice that day and we made the wrong fucking one and I knew it then—hell, even before it happened, I think I knew it—and I sure as shit know it now, especially now with my own little girl looking up at me so trusty-like and jumping into my arms like a little monkey.
K.K. Edwards
History doesn’t mean it no longer exists, Wild One. The opposite is true. History is more than a time period or an event. It’s born into our DNA and embedded in our bones. Without history, there’s no future. And the more you know and understand, the more power you have to right the wrongs of our ancestors.
K.K. Allen (A Bridge Between Us)
Right now, Marcy and the birthday girl are curled up on the couch under a blanket watching The Little Princess with Shirley Temple for what, the hundredth time? That Marcy; I don’t know how she does it. I made ‘em popcorn then I said I had to go get smokes, be right back. I didn’t need smokes. What I needed was to get the hell out of there, go for a drive, think. And I knew just what I’d be thinking: she was six, just like my Anna—I know because she told us or maybe I remember reading it in the paper after. Her name was Olive Copely. I got that name tattooed on my brain.
K.K. Edwards
Long Day and the Dial of Ahaz: A Scientific Vindication and a Midnight Cry’ kilichochapishwa mwaka 1890.

Maybe she's heard you have a reputation for being armed and dangerous," he whispered.

Aa – pronounced as ah, as in father Bb – pronounced as bay Cc – Generally, its French pronunciation is say. However, its pronunciation will change depending on the situation. If this letter comes before I and E, it must be pronounced as the English S (similar to how C in the word center is pronounced). If it comes before A, O, and U, its pronunciation must be the same as c in cat. Dd – pronounced as day, or similar to D in the word dog Ee – must sound like euh, similar to the emphasis of U in the word burp Ff – sounds like eff, similar to how F is pronounced in the word fog Gg – As a general rule, this letter is pronounced as jhay. However, its pronunciation will change depending on the word. If this letter is found before the vowels A, O, and U, it must sound like the g in the word get. On the other hand, if it’s placed before I and E, the pronunciation must be similar to the S in the word measure. Hh – While this letter generally sounds as ash and is found in French written words, it is ALWAYS silent, even if the word begins with this letter. However, H has two kinds in the French language that are useful in writing. In non-aspirated H (or H muet), the letter H is treated as a vowel and the word requires either liaisons or contractions (other rules will be discussed in a later section). On the other hand, in an aspirated H (or H aspiré), the word is treated is a consonant and will not require liaisons or contractions. To determine which words are aspirated or not so that words can be spelled and pronounced correctly, French dictionaries place an asterisk (or any other symbol) on words starting with an H to indicate that they are aspirated. Ii – sounds like ee, or similar to how the letters ea in the word team is pronounced Jj – pronounced as ghee, and sounds like the S in the word measure Kk – sounds like kah, and is pronounced like the K in the word kite Ll – a straightforward el pronunciation, similar to L in the word lemon Mm – simply pronounced as emm, from M in the word minute Nn – similar to N in the word note, as it sounds like enn Oo – This letter can be pronounced as the O in the word nose, or can also sound similar to the U in nut. Pp – pronounced as pay, or similar to the letter P in the word pen Qq – sounds like ku, or how the K in kite is pronounced Rr – must sound like you’re saying air. To do this correctly in French, you must try to force air as if it’s going to the back of your throat. Your tongue must be near the position where you gargle, but the letter must sound softly. Ss – Generally, it must sound like ess. However, the pronunciation might change depending on the word. If the word begins with an S or has 2 S’s, it must sound like the S in sister. However, if the word only has one S, it must sound like the Z in the word amazing. Tt – pronounced as tay, just like t in the word top Uu – To pronounce this properly, you must say the letter E as how it is said in English while making sure that your lips follow the position like you’re saying “oo”. Vv – pronounced as vay, and sounds like the V in violin. Ww – pronounced as dubla-vay as the general rule. However, this may be changed depending on the word. It can sound like V in the word violin, or as W in the word water. Xx – sounds like eeks, and can be pronounced either like gz (as how the word exit is said) or as ks (when the word socks is said). Yy – pronounced as ee-grehk, or similar to ea in leak. Zz – sounds as zed, or like the letter Z in zebra

I love you more than I need you to like me right now.
K.K. Allen (Up in the Treehouse (BelleCurve, #1))
Whoever holds that heart of yours is a lucky man. Just make sure you get it back soon. You deserve to be fully in control of what happens next.
K.K. Allen (Up in the Treehouse (BelleCurve, #1))
Madame Hugo had become insufferable. She had started with the peeking in at breakfast, and then moved on to skipping romps of faux-concern down the hallway at mid-day, speaking with trumpets in her throat and stumbling by my door with the grace of an elephant. In case it was not already clear, let me pronounce it: I loathed her. The violence I conjured up for her in that dark sanctum of mine was infinite, and the subject of her various fatalities and tortures came to almost—almost, but not quite—rival those intrusions which such thoughts of Sophia continued to make.
K.K. Edin (The Measurements of Decay)
Where they had acquired these objects in their happy captivity, she could not tell. Though their expressions were, for the most part, still mute, she could yet discern a difference in their fixed stares, most obvious in the children. It was a subtle crease under the eyes, the mouths only slightly hanging agape. One of the children, whose gaze flickered more attentively than the others, was even holding a palm-sized, blackened rectangle of stiff paper, which retained a faded red mark at its corner and jagged gold at its top. Sielle could not restrain a smile from spreading across her face, for in each of those talismans over which they loomed, mystified, there remained the forms of metamorphosis and history and decay, and perhaps man was therefore an inescapably metaphysical animal yet.
K.K. Edin (The Measurements of Decay)
It had begun not long after he had learned that she had no procrustus. Tikan, who hardly knew Sielle or her history, and whose sleeves were ever streaked with his heart’s blood, had started taking her as a blank canvas on which to project his own idea of her. And this idea was, insidiously, an abstraction he made out of her. To him, she was becoming the living symbol of his cause. Despite her flesh and her mind and words—rather, due to these—he began seeing her as a mere ideal of humanity, a fleshless world-soul containing in her the essences of each living person. A spirited, thinking person in a world dispirited and mindless. The torch-bearer and the posterity. The reason, the final cause. In her he saw some image of survival in the ideal unity of freedom. And in some sense, as the moment lingered, it was as if he were aiming his gaze through her, beyond her, and not quite at her.
K.K. Edin (The Measurements of Decay)
There was a family there, too: a man and a woman expecting a child. Like most couples, they had first seen each other in a metempsy; that is, the interprocrustic network had mathematically determined their optimal compatibility and arranged for them to meet and fall in love by way of subliminal or explicit suggestions. Mostly, they showed up as love interests in each other’s metempsies a year before actually meeting, and were therefore conditioned into love at first sight. This particular couple, however, had decided within six months that they hated each other, and that whatever system had brought them together was therefore evil. Though they themselves could not adopt a monastic life free of metempsies like their neighbor, they wanted better for their child. They had thus resolved to have their child in the Bilge, in order to prevent it from being procrusted. A number of people had had this same idea over the years, and since such ideas were lethal to a fetus, it usually resulted in a stillbirth.

It's hard to be around Gavin and not get little hot flashes every now and then. I'm having an episode now ...
K.K. Allen (Up in the Treehouse)
Chloe has always had a serious effect on my heart, but lately . . . she's stolen pieces of it, bit by bit. Or maybe she's had them all along.
K.K. Allen (Up in the Treehouse)
My world stops at the sight of her ... it's as if I've been looking at Chloe through a two-way mirror this entire time—aware of her, always feeling her presence, but never allowing myself to break through the barrier.
K.K. Allen (Up in the Treehouse)
Chloe doesn't move right away even though I've stepped to the side to allow her to pass. When she finally does, it's as if she's stealing my air as she goes. She's so damn beautiful.
K.K. Allen (Up in the Treehouse)
You were staring out at the horizon, telling me it was the most beautiful thing you'd ever seen, and I was staring at you thinking the exact same thing.

Well"—I place my hands on my hips—"aren't you going to sketch me?" I twirl slowly, allowing him to take in the entire outfit. Before I'm even facing him again he's moving toward me, then grabbing me by the hips and pulling me against his hard body. My heart is trying to catch up to his eagerness as we fall onto the bed. "I've done all the practice sketches I can handle.

That’s the problem with unrequited love. It doesn’t give back, even when you think you’re on the verge of something spectacular. It’s like looking into a one-way mirror, knowing in the depths of your soul that you’re standing in front of the one, but he never sees you in return. Still, you try. It’s an addiction. A trap. And the deeper you fall, the harder it is to climb your way out.
K.K. Allen (Weight of Regret (Camp Bexley, #1))
The second I recognize Hope is the moment the pain of losing her comes crashing and burning all around me. The damage I did, the woman I lost, the deep-seeded desire I smothered like it wasn’t the last flame left standing in my life. She was the one. The only one I’d ever felt could make my dimly lit world a better place, and I pushed her away as though she didn’t even matter.
K.K. Allen (Weight of Regret (Camp Bexley, #1))
The last time I gave Hope the space I thought she needed, she walked away and left a big, gaping hole in my chest. I won’t make that mistake again.
K.K. Allen (Weight of Regret (Camp Bexley, #1))
I want to go back. And this time, I want to be selfish. Because if I ever had the chance to rewrite that last night we had together, I would have never let her go.
K.K. Allen (Weight of Regret (Camp Bexley, #1))
You’re right. About everything.” I bend down to touch my forehead to hers. “I was cruel, and I forced you to leave when it was the last thing I wanted you to do. I’ve never wanted anyone to stay more.
K.K. Allen (Weight of Regret (Camp Bexley, #1))
I fucked up. I hurt you. And the weight of my regret over causing that pain is my burden to bear for the rest of my fucking life. But you belong here, Hope, just as much as I do. This is your home, and I’ll make it my mission to remind you of that for as long as you’re here.
K.K. Allen (Weight of Regret (Camp Bexley, #1))
I knew you’d leave one day. You were young and still figuring out what you wanted to do with your life. You were bound to leave, whether I pushed you away or not. Everyone leaves.” From my peripheral, I can see her scan me like she’s assessing my expression. ”I’m not everyone. I was yours. And you were the only one who couldn’t see it.
K.K. Allen (Weight of Regret (Camp Bexley, #1))
Not getting another chance to explore everything we should have had is my biggest fear of all. This time, I don’t want to miss a thing.

It was his eyes that I gravitated to the most. It was there that I could see his soul, the very part of him that he kept hidden from everyone else. Not from me. And that was how I always knew that Jamison Bexley was mine.

K.K. Allen (Moments in Time (Camp Bexley, #2))
Violet doesn’t belong to me. She never has, no matter the desperation I once felt to make her mine. Yet here I am, back in my old neck of the woods, chasing after the ghost of my past like there’s a chance in hell to resurrect what we once shared.
K.K. Allen (Moments in Time (Camp Bexley, #2))
Friendship was safe for us. It was the only way I could be sure that you’d always be there.” I frowned, thinking about how wrong I was. “But we couldn’t help ourselves. I wanted all your firsts.” “And I wanted you to have them. I wanted yours too.” I move my hands to her waist. “You got all the important ones. To this day, you’re the only woman I’ve ever loved.

I would have loved you forever, Vi … I wanted to love you forever.

His lips tilt up on one side. “You act like you won’t be moving in soon.” I gasp and playfully push against his chest. “Going a little fast there, aren’t you, Bexley?” He shakes his head so slowly that I become mesmerized by the purposeful movement. “I happen to think the lifetime it’s taken for us to be standing right here has been excruciatingly slow.” My heart is beating so fast. “I might have taken a little detour.” He leans in so his mouth is a mere inch from mine. “And you’re back on track now?” It’s been years since I’ve felt these kinds of butterflies – the ones that feel uncaged in my chest to the point that they could carry me away. “Without a doubt.

K.K. Muhammed (Main Hoon Bharatiya (Hindi Edition))
