In modern times, the sisters have largely disappeared from the collective consiousness, but the idea of Fate hasn't. Why do we still believe? Does itmake tragedy more bearable to believe that we ourselves had no hand in it, that we couldn't have prevented it? It was always ever thus.
Things happen for a reason, says Natasha's mother. What she means is Fate has a Reason and, though you may not know it, there's a certain comfort in knowing that there's a Plan.

In our universe, planets can exist only because a few generations of stars died and were reborn. The rebirth of stellar matter into planets is how our Earth came to be. This planet, our home, is covered with a film of life unlike any we’ve yet seen anywhere else in the universe. As far as we know today, it is unique. A blue marble floating in the dark. Earth’s life is fed by a process in which carbon from the air and minerals in the soil are attached together by the energy of photons via photosynthesis in plants. In this process, everything on this planet lives by the constant sacrifice of the nearest star. Every blade of grass, every tree, every bush, every microscopic algae on this planet is a resurrected form of the Sun’s energy. I capture that energy by consuming other things that have died. Every time I eat a meal, the dead matter that made those plants and animals literally gives life to my body through digestion and my metabolism. One day, I will die, and in time my atoms will go back to giving life to something else. Much farther along the arrow of time, our own Sun will explode and spread its essence across the sky. As they circle me, the ragged dress I wear transforms into a glittering gown, reflecting rainbows when hit by the light. Finally, I embrace the angel I always was.
Filling the distance between me and Damien, I leap into his arms. When he catches me, his darkness feathers into the sea. We entwine, twirling in a whirlpool as the sirens hold us in a glittering lattice.

The Toltec Creation Story
In order to understand how far consciousness can be developed, we have to go back to what people
believe is mythology, the story of the creation of the Náhuatl lineage. Those who can see beyond
history with the eyes of perception will understand that this story is describing the different worlds, or
dimensions, that exist right next to us.
In the beginning everything was Centeotl, the energy of unity, oneness, also called Amomati or
Itzcuauhtli, the Black Eagle, the pitch-black energy from which everything emanated, as in the Bible,
where light originated from darkness.
In order to fly, or create, the Black Eagle looked at its reflection, metaphorically speaking, thereby
creating subject and object. This initial reflection was called Tezcatlipoca, the smoking mirror. I’m
often asked where it’s located, and I can only reply that it’s in the 13th heaven, far from this world and
at the same time so close, because we are always in it.
The first thing the smoking mirror reflected was the sacred couple, Ometecuhtli and Omecihuatl, Mr
and Mrs Two, lord and lady, the male and female essences, or energies. And this creator couple had
four children, all named Tezcatlipoca, Smoking Mirror, in honour of the first reflection.
These Tezcatlipocas are considered gods by many people, including academics, but in fact they are
essences, forms of energy, that are found in everything. They are expressed in a spiritual way, an
astronomical way and of course a human way too.
Each of the Tezcatlipocas was assigned a cosmic direction:
The north: The Black Tezcatlipoca was assigned this direction. He is the guardian of dreams,
the guardian of ‘the cave’ or the core of each being in the underworld.
The west: The Red Tezcatlipoca, also called Xipe Totec, Lord of Shedding, was assigned this
direction and was given the task of bringing order to the dreams of the Black Tezcatlipoca. He
also drives the forces of change, renewal, life and death.
The south: The Blue Tezcatlipoca, known as Huitzilopochtli, was assigned this direction, which
represents the transformation of the warrior’s will. He guides us through our dreams, helping
us reach our full potential. He is also a prophet, hence the master of foreboding.
The east: The White Tezcatlipoca, Quetzalcóatl, was assigned this direction, the place where
light emerges. He is the archetype of light and knowledge in ancient Mexico.
These four Tezcatlipocas, or forces, brought order to the dream of Centeotl. Their movement, ollin,
gave birth to the Ohmaxal, the Cosmic Cross, which keeps everything in a state of change. And from
this change, this movement, emerged matter, which later became stars, then planets and finally energy
beings and physical beings.

thinks this too is the baby’s flesh, unformed, ugly like a burn and not handsome, and
sometimes throws away them both to the open lands to die. It is wrinkled and puffy
flesh, and skin and hair, and one eye big and a mouth that drools without stop, and one
hand with claws and another stuck on the belly as if sewn, and useless legs that flap like
fins, a thin penis, stiff like a finger, and hole that bursts shit like lava. It hates the twin
for it will never be the twin, but it needs the twin for it cannot eat food, or drink water as
