Prayer is a way of asking for something. It is the medium of miracles. But the only meaningful prayer is for forgiveness, because those who have been forgiven have everything.

To forgive is merely to remember only the loving thoughts you gave in the past, and those that were given you.

Forgiveness is the healing of the perception of separation.

Who is to blame? The filth peddler, of course, but even more than this vulgar entertainer, the filth consumer, the public. So long as men are corrupt and revel in sewer filth, entertainers will sell them what they want. Laws may be passed, arrests may be made, lawyers may argue, courts may sentence and jails may harbor men of corrupt minds, but pornography and allied insults to decency will never cease until men have cleansed their minds and cease to require and pay for such vile stuff. When the customer is sick and tired of being drowned in filth by the comedians, he will not pay for that filth and its source will dry up.

Turning something over to the Holy Spirit is a leap of faith that lets go of attempting to control outcomes. The core of alcoholism, anorexia, bulimia, smoking and a host of things the world calls addictions is control. The little willingness the Holy Spirit asks is the key to letting go of the attempt to manage the body and the world, which is the insane attempt to maintain a self-concept image that God did not create. An idea to contemplate from the Course is this: "Seek not to change the world, but choose to change your mind about the world." The requirement is to change your thinking, not to focus on behavior and form. Behavior flows from thought, and transformation of the mind is synonymous with changing thought patterns from ego-based to Spirit-based.

The one correction possible for false perception must be true perception. It will not endure. But for the time it lasts it comes to heal. For true perception is a remedy with many names. Forgiveness, salvation, Atonement, true perception, all are one.

Your desire and willingness will call forth witnesses to Awakening, and there is nothing in form that can speed up Awakening – for form but witnesses to the desire within.

Relationships without a Divine Aim always "break up," for they are based on nothing. Divine Purpose could be described as forgiveness -- the undoing and releasing of the ego. Belief in the ego prevents awareness of True Union and Intimacy. The underlying fear of Intimacy and Union is the ego's fear of loss of itself, the 'personal self' and the 'personal world.

In Him we have . . . the forgiveness of sins . . . —Ephesians 1:7 Beware of the pleasant view of the fatherhood of God: God is so kind and loving that of course He will forgive us. That thought, based solely on emotion, cannot be found anywhere in the New Testament. The only basis on which God can forgive us is the tremendous tragedy of the Cross of Christ. To base our forgiveness on any other ground is unconscious blasphemy. The only ground on which God can forgive our sin and reinstate us to His favor is through the Cross of Christ. There is no other way! Forgiveness, which is so easy for us to accept, cost the agony at Calvary. We should never take the forgiveness of sin, the gift of the Holy Spirit, and our sanctification in simple faith, and then forget the enormous cost to God that made all of this ours. Forgiveness is the divine miracle of grace. The cost to God was the Cross of Christ. To forgive sin, while remaining a holy God, this price had to be paid. Never accept a view of the fatherhood of God if it blots out the atonement. The revealed truth of God is that without the atonement He cannot forgive— He would contradict His nature if He did. The only way we can be forgiven is by being brought back to God through the atonement of the Cross. God’s forgiveness is possible only in the supernatural realm. Compared with the miracle of the forgiveness of sin, the experience of sanctification is small. Sanctification is simply the wonderful expression or evidence of the forgiveness of sins in a human life. But the thing that awakens the deepest fountain of gratitude in a human being is that God has forgiven his sin. Paul never got away from this. Once you realize all that it cost God to forgive you, you will be held as in a vise, constrained by the love of God.

The symbols and the gifts and the tools of Awakening are noticed everywhere once you have opened your heart to them. They are free and Freely Given. They come with blessings and with no cost or sacrifice. They come easily to a willing heart and open mind. Be not afraid of Love. Love comes as a Friend and the Holy Spirit is Friendly and Gentle.

Whenever we are ill, we need to search our hearts to see who it is we need to forgive. The Course in Miracles says that “all disease comes from a state of unforgiveness,” and that “whenever we are ill, we need to look around to see who it is that we need to forgive.

In the past you have suppressed and denied the ego system. The ego has not been raised to awareness, but once you start to raise it to awareness and the stuff starts getting flushed up, there is a strong tendency to want to project. Even though the ego is now being unveiled, you are seeing that the mind is still very strongly invested in it and that is where the guilt comes in. The transcendence will eventually come where we are able to detach in our mind from those false thoughts, from the attack thoughts; we will be able to just calmly see the false as false. But that is one of the stages that we go through. Once it starts to get flushed up there is a real tendency to project – to be what Jesus calls the unhealed healer. You want to go around and give healing without having healed yourselves and it is just to watch as we do this, and go through it.

Forgiveness is like the martial arts of consciousness.  In aikido and other martial arts, we sidestep our attacker's force rather than resisting it.  The energy of the attack then boomerangs back in the direction of the attacker. forgiveness works in the same way.  When we attack back, and defense is a form of attack, we initiate a war which no one can win.

Miracles are natural signs of forgiveness. Through miracles you accept God’s forgiveness by extending it to others.

The Son of God has come in glory to redeem the lost, to save the helpless, and to give the world the gift of his forgiveness.

Awakening is the experience of forgiving the illusion of manifesting, for Identity Is Spirit. Christ comes not into form, but calls you out of the world to recognize your Self as eternal Spirit.

It seems like every day you have to deal with problems, interpersonal problems, survival, and so on and so forth. But you only have one problem and there is one solution to that problem. Isn’t that nice to think it is so simple? If there is such a thing as truth, it will be simple – one problem and one solution. If I perceive the problem to be in the world, it cannot be solved because the Holy Spirit is the one answer to that one problem and the Holy Spirit is in the mind. God did not place the answer where the problem was not. He did not place the answer out on the screen. He did not place the answer in the world; he placed the answer in the mind of the sleeping Son. And that is where the Holy Spirit is.

What do you learn at school, then?" When you feel angry or frustrated at a brother for using a particular defense -- being controlling or whatever it is -- you are failing to forgive yourself for the very same attempt; you still believe that the defense has a reality. You are seeing it out there but when you start to pull it back to your mind, you start to see the control in yourself. The guilt from transferring it from one seeming person/body to another seeming person/body is enormous. Instead of blaming your brother, the blame gets turned onto your own seeming body, but it is still the same error. We have to see that I am mind; this identity that I took off of my brother but still saw in myself is also just a construct in my mind. Otherwise, what good is the transfer?

The Holy Spirit Asks that you accept the idea of one mind wholeheartedly, for this is the Correction to the error called ego. The ego was the belief in private minds with private thoughts, but if mind is one the ego has no foundation on which to stand. Forgiveness reflects the oneness that shines beyond perception. Forgiveness unifies and shows the world anew. You are not going insane, you are going inward to sanity of mind. And unified perception is the gateway to the remembrance of God and Christ.

While the practice of forgiveness, or undoing guilt, is usually experienced as complex and long term, it can be understood essentially as a three-step process (see, e.g., T-5.VIl.6; W-pI.23.5; W-pl.70.1-4: W-pI.196.7-11). The first step reverses the projection as we realize that the guilt is not in another but in ourselves. Second, now that the guilt has been brought to our attention and we recognize that its source is in us, we undo this decision by choosing to see ourselves as guiltless Sons of God, rather than guilty sons of the ego. These two steps are our responsibility; the final one is the Holy Spirit's, Who is able to take the guilt from us now that we have released it to Him, looking at it with His Love beside us, and thus without judgment and guilt. This looking without judgment, in gentle laughter, is the meaning of forgiveness. Using the workbook as our guide, we become trained over time to hear the Holy Spirit's Voice, learning that all things are opportunities to learn forgiveness (W-pI.193).

Whether we're forgiving our parents or someone else or ourselves, the laws of mind remain the same.  As we love, we shall be released from pain and as we deny love, we shall remain in pain.  Each of us have different fears and different manifestations of fear,  but all of us are saved by the same technique:  The call to God to save our lives by salvaging our minds.  'Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.  For love is the kingdom and love is the glory and love is the power, forever and forever.

In this book, I have selected seven quantum movies that carry direct healing messages. Show us the world anew—fresh, clean, and clear! Then we have nothing to worry about. When we trust, listen to, and follow Spirit, it is game over for the ego. Game over for worry, sadness, and anxiety. As Jesus says in the Course, “Trust would settle every problem now!” Happiness is Who We Are Now!

Awakening involves mind training. Step back and pay attention to the thoughts that come into awareness. Feel your desire for healing. Preferences are judgments, and as the mind yields to the nonjudgmental Perspective of the Holy Spirit, the Awakening is obvious. Observe that as long as appetites seem to exist there are the ego defenses of indulgence and repression. Neither is better or worse than the other, for they are the same illusion. The miracle offers a real alternative and when one is consistently miracle-minded, defenses are no longer needed.

Forgiveness is the healing of the perception of separation. Correct perception of your brother is necessary, because minds have chosen to see themselves as separate. Spirit knows God completely. That is its miraculous power. The fact that each one has this power completely is a condition entirely alien to the world’s thinking. The world believes that if anyone has everything, there is nothing left. But God’s miracles are as total as His Thoughts because they are His Thoughts. As long as perception lasts prayer has a place. Since perception rests on lack, those who perceive have not totally accepted the Atonement and given themselves over to truth. Perception is based on a separated state, so that anyone who perceives at all needs healing. Communion, not prayer, is the natural state of those who know. God and His miracle are inseparable. How beautiful indeed are the Thoughts of God who live in His light! Your worth is beyond perception because it is beyond doubt. Do not perceive yourself in different lights. Know yourself in the One Light where the miracle that is you is perfectly clear.

He always perceives this world as outside himself, for this is crucial to his adjustment. He does not realize that he makes this world, for there is no world outside of him. There is a place in our mind that was created to be totally devoted to God, but we have defiled this place with other devotions. 19 “WHEN HE HAS COME” “When He has come, He will convict the world of sin . . . .” John 16:8     Very few of us know anything about conviction of sin. We know the experience of being disturbed because we have done wrong things. But conviction of sin by the Holy Spirit blots out every relationship on earth and makes us aware of only one—“Against You, You only, have I sinned . . .” (Psalm 51:4). When a person is convicted of sin in this way, he knows with every bit of his conscience that God would not dare to forgive him. If God did forgive him, then this person would have a stronger sense of justice than God. God does forgive, but it cost the breaking of His heart with grief in the death of Christ to enable Him to do so. The great miracle of the grace of God is that He forgives sin, and it is the death of Jesus Christ alone that enables the divine nature to forgive and to remain true to itself in doing so. It is shallow nonsense to say that God forgives us because He is love. Once we have been convicted of sin, we will never say this again. The love of God means Calvary—nothing less! The love of God is spelled out on the Cross and nowhere else. The only basis for which God can forgive me is the Cross of Christ. It is there that His conscience is satisfied.     Forgiveness doesn’t merely mean that I am saved from hell and have been made ready for heaven (no one would accept forgiveness on that level). Forgiveness means that I am forgiven into a newly created relationship which identifies me with God in Christ. The Course offers us the idea of forgiveness as our way to break the hold of the ego and to let the memory come to the surface. By forgiving the world we perceive, we will begin the path back to God.

There are two fundamental lessons the Course tries to teach us. The first is to recognize how the ego operates in our lives as it projects onto the world all of our internal guilt, fear, and pain. In recognizing the actions of the ego, we begin to see the barriers that prevent us from experiencing the Love of God. The second lesson is to learn how to break through those barriers through the practice of forgiveness.

Forgiveness offers everything I want. What could you want forgiveness cannot give? Do you want peace? Forgiveness offers it. Do you want happiness, a quiet mind, a certainty of purpose, and a sense of worth and beauty that transcends the world? Do you want care and safety, and the warmth of sure protection always? Do you want a quietness that cannot be disturbed, a gentleness that never can be hurt, a deep abiding comfort, and a rest so perfect it can never be upset? All this forgiveness offers you, and more. It sparkles on your eyes as you awake, and gives you joy with which to meet the day. It soothes your forehead while you sleep, and rests upon your eyelids so you see no dreams of fear and evil, malice and attack. And when you wake again, it offers you another day of happiness and peace.

Forgiveness must be given by a mind which understands that it must overlook all shadows on the holy face of Christ, among which sickness should be seen as one.

The world uses its special relationships as a final weapon of exclusion and a demonstration of separateness. The Holy Spirit transforms them into perfect lessons in forgiveness and in awakening from the dream. Each one is an opportunity to let perceptions be healed and errors corrected. Each one is another chance to forgive oneself by forgiving the other. And each one becomes still another invitation to the Holy Spirit and to the remembrance of God.

God does not judge. He only wills that His Son be happy.

The Course In Miracles, as expressed in perhaps mystical Christianity, is nothing but the search for the Holy Grail. It is nothing but that. The whole idea of the purification of you through service and forgiving is to do nothing but bring your perceptual mind together to formulate a new reality, which is the Grail.

This placing the mind in the service of the Holy Spirit establishes the proper function of the mind and corrects the mind’s errors, which are merely lacks of love.

am determined to see implies that what your ego currently believes to be your only  provisional reality may not be the only option available.

Forgiveness is the key to happiness. I will awaken from the dream that I am mortal, fallible and full of sin, and know I am the perfect Son of God.

Miracles are natural expressions of total forgiveness. 2Through miracles, you affirm your acceptance of God’s forgiveness by extending it to others. 2 The second step is inherent in the first, because light cannot tolerate darkness.21 2Light, by definition, dispels darkness automatically.

Forgive us our illusions, Father, and help us to accept our true relationship with You, in which there are no illusions, and where none can ever enter. Our holiness is Yours. What can there be in us that needs forgiveness, when Yours is perfect? The sleep of forgetfulness is only the unwillingness to remember Your forgiveness and Your Love. Let us not wander into temptation, for the temptation of the Son of God is not Your Will. And let us receive only what You have given, and accept but this into the minds which You created, and which You love. Amen.

In the Course, we do not first assume that another person really deserves our anger but then go ahead and “forgive” her anyway. Rather, we realize that our anger is based on a mistaken perception of her, and so we let that perception go. We forgive, in other words, by realizing “that there is nothing to forgive.”11 This kind of forgiveness is so egoless that, in our ego-bound state, we need the help of the Holy Spirit, God’s Voice in the dream, to complete it.

it doesn’t matter what actions you take or don’t take in the world — although your way of seeing and the attitude you maintain while engaging in any action does matter. Of course, as long as you appear to exist within the world of multiplicity, you will have some temporary earthly concerns, and we do not intend to ignore your worldly needs. The Holy Spirit isn’t stupid, and as we said, your experience is that you are here.

if God is Love, can He also be hate? If God is really perfect Love, then can He also be flawed? If God is a Creator, could He then be vengeful against that which He Himself had created? Once the answer to such questions is clearly seen to be of course not, a long closed door has been nudged open. In the state of semi-dualism, your mind has begun to lose some of its hidden but terrible fear of God.

Miracles are natural expressions of total forgiveness. Through miracles, man accepts God's forgiveness by extending it to others.

You will realize that nothing can rob you of your own inner peace because your mind is the sole interpreter for all the meaning you assign to your world.

When you associate yourself as Mind and not the game token called the body, you no longer believe your safety rests in the preservation of the body or the things of this world.

The mind that knows that it alone is responsible for its own happiness is not affected by a world of seeming hate and fear.

The thought of separation is the belief that you are not perfect, whole and complete as God created you and therefore, this imperfect creation has needs that must be met by outside forces that you do not directly control.

Being an effect, your world has no creative power to change the mind that thought it.

When you forget that fact and a grievance arises, remember the truth and you will be able to forgive all and reinterpret your own thoughts with loving eyes thus reclaiming the creative power of your own mind.

When you give your day over to the Holy Spirit, you are actually asking the Holy Spirit to teach you that there are

no external forces outside your own mind that can make you happy or sad.

You are not a body, you are free. You are still as God created you. Nothing sources your experience but you and nothing can affect you unless you choose to allow it within your own mind.

You know what you are destined to continue to learn from. There is no substitute for reading the Text of the Course and the Workbook, even after you’ve already done the lessons. Use your mind to choose between the body and true spirit, and by doing so forgive the world. It is through your forgiveness that your ego will be undone.

The words love and fear in the Course represent two complete and mutually exclusive thought systems, both of which need to be understood if you’re ever going to know what it really is that you’re choosing between. In fact, your unconscious belief system is held in place by not looking at it.25 What kind of a service are you rendering people if you don’t turn them on to the fact that the thought system of fear, which they have denied and projected outwards,26 must be closely examined in their lives if they are to be free of it?

There are some people who will play down the importance of understanding what the Course means. They’ll quote the first few lessons of the Workbook out of context, or the message that J gave you the other morning, Gary. They’ll say that since the Course is making a metaphysical statement that everything is meaningless, then the Course doesn’t mean anything either! Let’s be very emphatic about something. The Course certainly does have meaning on the level where it meets you, and it is very important for you to understand it — or else it will be useless to you. That’s because the Course is about reinterpreting the world and what you call your life. It’s about giving up the meaning that you have given the world and switching over to the Holy Spirit’s meaning for the world.

But if you tell people to choose love instead of fear, they’ll think you’re telling them to choose their love, and that’s not what the Course is teaching. As you will learn, the love of the world and its people is what the Course calls special love,24 and the love of the Holy Spirit is quite a different thing.

one of the long-term payoffs of this spiritual path. Even while you still appear to be in your body, it’s possible for you to attain psychological invulnerability. As the Course says: The guiltless mind cannot suffer.30 But it takes the illusion of time for you to learn your forgiveness lessons and get to your goal.

Forgiveness: occurs when we realise our wholeness can’t be affected by anyone, or anything. We no longer blame someone else for our lack of peace in the here and now. The Course’s path to healing and inner peace.

A Course in Miracles defines “miracle” as a divine healing of human perception; a change of mind that shifts perception from fear and guilt to love and forgiveness. This higher level of perception heals the mind from pain and suffering and places it in the service of spirit.

Personal transformation will occur if we are willing to question and examine every value we hold, and to be ready to see things differently. While reading this text, one will find his/ herself undertaking the challenge of recognizing the difference between beliefs that are rooted in fear and guilt, and those that incorporate love and forgiveness.

Today’s review covers the following ideas: 1. (65) ‘My only function is the one that God gives to me.’ The only function that I have is the one of forgiving that God gives to me. Recognizing this releases me from all conflict, because I have only one goal. With only one purpose, I always know what to do, what to say, and what to think. All doubt disappears as I acknowledge that my only function is the one that God gives to me. 2. Specific applications might take this form: ‘The personal mind’s perception of this does not change my function.’ ‘This does not give me a function that replaces the one that God gives to me.’ ‘I will not use this to justify a function that God does not give to me.’ 3. A Prayer From the Text – Forgive us our illusions, Father, and help us to accept our true relationship with You, in which there are no illusions, and where none can ever enter. Our holiness is Yours. What can there be in us that needs forgiveness when Yours is perfect? The sleep of forgetfulness is only the unwillingness to remember Your forgiveness and Your Love. Let us not wander into temptation, for the temptation of the Son of God is not Your Will. The peace of God is the goal of the Course

To forgive is merely to remember only the loving thoughts you gave in the past, and those that were given you. All the rest must be forgotten. Forgiveness is a selective remembering, based not on your selection.
