From the day of his Upanayanam, he wore that important mark of his Vedic knowledge merely out of habit, that too, only for the sake of his mother’s good credence. Other than that, he had a complete abstinence and departure from rituals, pujas, dietary restrictions and even from the observance of festivals, which are all, in his case, subtly and profoundly replaced with more modern and secular practices, reflecting his complex and evolving identity, prioritizing intellectual and spiritual freedom over such an adherence to customs that no longer resonated with him.
