I’m a modern man, a man for the millennium. Digital and smoke free. A diversified multi-cultural, post-modern deconstruction that is anatomically and ecologically incorrect. I’ve been up linked and downloaded, I’ve been inputted and outsourced, I know the upside of downsizing, I know the downside of upgrading. I’m a high-tech low-life. A cutting edge, state-of-the-art bi-coastal multi-tasker and I can give you a gigabyte in a nanosecond! I’m new wave, but I’m old school and my inner child is outward bound. I’m a hot-wired, heat seeking, warm-hearted cool customer, voice activated and bio-degradable. I interface with my database, my database is in cyberspace, so I’m interactive, I’m hyperactive and from time to time I’m radioactive. Behind the eight ball, ahead of the curve, ridin the wave, dodgin the bullet and pushin the envelope. I’m on-point, on-task, on-message and off drugs. I’ve got no need for coke and speed. I've got no urge to binge and purge. I’m in-the-moment, on-the-edge, over-the-top and under-the-radar. A high-concept, low-profile, medium-range ballistic missionary. A street-wise smart bomb. A top-gun bottom feeder. I wear power ties, I tell power lies, I take power naps and run victory laps. I’m a totally ongoing big-foot, slam-dunk, rainmaker with a pro-active outreach. A raging workaholic. A working rageaholic. Out of rehab and in denial! I’ve got a personal trainer, a personal shopper, a personal assistant and a personal agenda. You can’t shut me up. You can’t dumb me down because I’m tireless and I’m wireless, I’m an alpha male on beta-blockers. I’m a non-believer and an over-achiever, laid-back but fashion-forward. Up-front, down-home, low-rent, high-maintenance. Super-sized, long-lasting, high-definition, fast-acting, oven-ready and built-to-last! I’m a hands-on, foot-loose, knee-jerk head case pretty maturely post-traumatic and I’ve got a love-child that sends me hate mail. But, I’m feeling, I’m caring, I’m healing, I’m sharing-- a supportive, bonding, nurturing primary care-giver. My output is down, but my income is up. I took a short position on the long bond and my revenue stream has its own cash-flow. I read junk mail, I eat junk food, I buy junk bonds and I watch trash sports! I’m gender specific, capital intensive, user-friendly and lactose intolerant. I like rough sex. I like tough love. I use the “F” word in my emails and the software on my hard-drive is hardcore--no soft porn. I bought a microwave at a mini-mall; I bought a mini-van at a mega-store. I eat fast-food in the slow lane. I’m toll-free, bite-sized, ready-to-wear and I come in all sizes. A fully-equipped, factory-authorized, hospital-tested, clinically-proven, scientifically- formulated medical miracle. I’ve been pre-wash, pre-cooked, pre-heated, pre-screened, pre-approved, pre-packaged, post-dated, freeze-dried, double-wrapped, vacuum-packed and, I have an unlimited broadband capacity. I’m a rude dude, but I’m the real deal. Lean and mean! Cocked, locked and ready-to-rock. Rough, tough and hard to bluff. I take it slow, I go with the flow, I ride with the tide. I’ve got glide in my stride. Drivin and movin, sailin and spinin, jiving and groovin, wailin and winnin. I don’t snooze, so I don’t lose. I keep the pedal to the metal and the rubber on the road. I party hearty and lunch time is crunch time. I’m hangin in, there ain’t no doubt and I’m hangin tough, over and out!
George Carlin
A mentor is a person, an expert in a specific area of endeavour who trains, guides and observes a less experienced person to also become an expert through support, advice, and involvement in character building opportunities.
Israelmore Ayivor (Michelangelo | Beethoven | Shakespeare: 15 Things Common to Great Achievers)
In addition to trainers and buddies, we have an additional support system on which I have relied, Jesus Christ. When the changes we make are anchored in the will of God and when our love for God becomes the driving force in our lives, we discover the ultimate trainer is with us, cheering us on.
Candace Cameron Bure (Reshaping It All: Motivation for Physical and Spiritual Fitness)
Line up some “multidimensional” support. When it’s nose-to-the-grindstone time, we tend to get the grindstone kind of people on board—suppliers, designers, editors, marketers, “work/task” people. But this is precisely the time when you need some spiritually informed intelligence to back you up: a naturopath, a trainer, green smoothies, a prayer group. All that woo-woo love and insight will go a long way in helping you navigate the heavy-duty logistics on a daily basis.
Danielle LaPorte (The Fire Starter Sessions: A Soulful + Practical Guide to Creating Success on Your Own Terms)

Images of people in the Middle East dressing like Westerners, spending like Westerners, that is what the voters watching TV here at home want to see. That is a visible sign that we really are winning the war of ideas—the struggle between consumption and economic growth, and religious tradition and economic stagnation. I thought, why are those children coming onto the streets more and more often? It’s not anything we have done, is it? It’s not any speeches we have made, or countries we have invaded, or new constitutions we have written, or sweets we have handed out to children, or football matches between soldiers and the locals. It’s because they, too, watch TV. They watch TV and see how we live here in the West. They see children their own age driving sports cars. They see teenagers like them, instead of living in monastic frustration until someone arranges their marriages, going out with lots of different girls, or boys. They see them in bed with lots of different girls and boys. They watch them in noisy bars, bottles of lager upended over their mouths, getting happy, enjoying the privilege of getting drunk. They watch them roaring out support or abuse at football matches. They see them getting on and off planes, flying from here to there without restriction and without fear, going on endless holidays, shopping, lying in the sun. Especially, they see them shopping: buying clothes and PlayStations, buying iPods, video phones, laptops, watches, digital cameras, shoes, trainers, baseball caps. Spending money, of which there is always an unlimited supply, in bars and restaurants, hotels and cinemas. These children of the West are always spending. They are always restless, happy and with unlimited access to cash. I realised, with a flash of insight, that this was what was bringing these Middle Eastern children out on the streets. I realised that they just wanted to be like us. Those children don’t want to have to go to the mosque five times a day when they could be hanging out with their friends by a bus shelter, by a phone booth or in a bar. They don’t want their families to tell them who they can and can’t marry. They might very well not want to marry at all and just have a series of partners. I mean, that’s what a lot of people do. It is no secret, after that serial in the Daily Mail, that that is what I do. I don’t necessarily need the commitment. Why should they not have the same choices as me? They want the freedom to fly off for their holidays on easy Jet. I know some will say that what a lot of them want is just one square meal a day or the chance of a drink of clean water, but on the whole the poor aren’t the ones on the street and would not be my target audience. They aren’t going to change anything, otherwise why are they so poor? The ones who come out on the streets are the ones who have TVs. They’ve seen how we live, and they want to spend.

The usual feelings of inadequacy began to rise as he heard his siblings’ conversations. His family was a lot more accomplished than him. He looked at each of his siblings in turn: Samuel and Carter were both highly sought-after lawyers, Trent was a teacher, and Ava was a police officer. Luke was just a personal trainer, and although he didn’t plan on changing, it wasn’t anywhere close to how important his siblings’ jobs were. ~Luke, Life Support

Unequal support with respect to items such as equipment managers, trainers, massage therapists, meals, hotel accommodations, and transportation; • The commitment of funds to pay for 14-year-old boys and not girls to live and train in Bradenton, Florida, while attending a private soccer academy; • The commitment of $10 million to build soccer stadiums for a for-profit professional league for men, Major League Soccer (“MLS”); • The commitment to loan or give millions to assist in the start-up of MLS. Correspondingly, when repeatedly asked by the Women’s United Soccer Association (“WUSA”) for start-up funding to help relaunch a league, US Soccer has repeatedly claimed “it is not in the business of building leagues”;

Interestingly, No can attract more help if you are being attacked than even the word help. So say the trainers at Impact Bay Area, the organization that trains women in self-defense. Shouting “No!” attracts the attention of others naturally and recruits any help that may be available in earshot. Equally important, the trainers say, “saying No is a way for you to communicate with yourself. It forces you to breathe, which breaks the freeze response. It gathers your energy. It gets your adrenaline going. It reminds you of the [self-defense] class, your muscle memory, the support of the line [your peers], and the fact that you have the right to fight for your own safety. Most attackers are looking for easy victims. They’re not looking for a fight, not even a verbal one. Saying No makes you a less attractive target. Submitting and being nice to attackers in the hope that they will be nice to you in return is not the safest strategy.” Saying “No!” helps you gather your energy, reminds you of your right to say No, draws attention, and expresses your power.
William Ury (The Power of a Positive No: How to Say No and Still Get to Yes)
Will had Chaz with him for support. Funny how Will could have had Chaz as a trainer this summer. I smiled. Will looked for an excuse to hang out with me. And it worked.

For those who lack the classical education of New York’s early butchers and bakers, Xanthippe was Socrates’ wife, and has gone down in history as an atrocious nag. Socrates’ equanimity in enduring (ignoring) her is regularly held out as a proof of his nobility of character. Graves begins by pointing out: why is it that for two thousand years, no one seems to have asked what it might have actually been like to be married to Socrates? Imagine you were saddled with a husband who did next to nothing to support a family, spent all his time trying to prove everyone he met was wrong about everything, and felt true love was only possible between men and underage boys? You wouldn’t express some opinions about this? Socrates has been held out ever since as the paragon of a certain unrelenting notions of pure consistency, an unflinching determination to follow arguments to their logical conclusions, which is surely useful in its way--but he was not a very reasonable person, and those who celebrate him have ended up producing a "mechanized, insensate, inhumane, abstract rationality" that has done the world enormous harm. Graves writes that as a poet, he feels no choice but to identify himself more with those frozen out of the "rational" space of Greek city, starting with women like Xanthippe, for whom reasonableness doesn’t exclude logic (no one is actually *against* logic) but combines it with a sense of humor, practicality, and simple human decency. With that in mind, it only makes sense that so much of the initiative for creating new forms of democratic process--like consensus--has emerged from the tradition of feminism, which means (among other things) the intellectual tradition of those who have, historically, tended not to be vested with the power of command. Consensus is an attempt to create a politics founded on the principle of reasonableness--one that, as feminist philosopher Deborah Heikes has pointed out, requires not only logical consistency, but "a measure of good judgment, self-criticism, a capacity for social interaction, and a willingness to give and consider reasons." Genuine deliberation, in short. As a facilitation trainer would likely put it, it requires the ability to listen well enough to understand perspectives that are fundamentally different from one’s own, and then try to find pragmatic common ground without attempting to convert one’s interlocutors completely to one’s won perspective. It means viewing democracy as common problem solving among those who respect the fact they will always have, like all humans, somewhat incommensurable points of view. (p. 201-203)
David Graeber (The Democracy Project: A History, a Crisis, a Movement)
►Do you have any expectations for billable hours/month? What happens if a trainer doesn’t hit them? ►How are you going to market me – and my skills? Are there other trainers who have similar skill sets and backgrounds? ►How many trainers do you currently have? How many hours do they typically work? ►How many trainers are you currently hiring? ►How long do most trainers stay at your club? What is the biggest reason they give for leaving? ►What programs do you have in place to keep your trainers for the long term? ►How do you monitor your trainers’ development? ►How do you monitor training sessions? ►Do you offer support for tasks like greeting clients, following up with clients, and rescheduling appointments? Or is that the trainer’s sole responsibility?

Bad Job     I got a gig at a trucking company, loading freight, And damn it was bad, sweating in a suicidal St. Louis Summer night   And the dudes in the place were scary looking and numb, Most of them were around thirty to fifty years of age, most Were supporting families; and I was only, twenty-one at the time. My trainer showing me the ropes and the wharves, as it all seemed Too much for me at the time, As the planets in my head swirled One had to do so much to earn a living… so much The guys so scary looking, they had been there so long That were beginning to look like the truck, the trailer, The freight, the skids and the boxes As

A good personal trainer conveys safe, effective, and interesting workouts to clients for fitness training. The training programs you develop should be progressive, varied, and geared toward enhancing your clients’ health and wellness. A trainer should be supportive and energised so that their clients remain interested and refreshed, which helps ensure they stick with the program.

the strongest learning cultures exist in those organizations where directors not only support training but also participate alongside members of staff in learning opportunities. They understand what is being offered, understand that their presence encourages others to take training and learning seriously, and gain a perspective not available to those who are disengaged from what is happening within their organizations’ learning programs.

what is missing from so many learning opportunities: the personal involvement and support of key players and stakeholders, and a personal and organizational commitment to creating the sort of workplace where, when learners return from formal lessons, they are encouraged to implement what they have learned.

So, what is a mentor?   Like leadership, there are dozens of definitions out there describing a mentor. The dictionaries would say a mentor is:   an experienced advisor and supporter; a trainer; a counselor, tutor, teacher, coach.   Look in the mirror; are you one of these? If so, then you are a mentor to someone.

In a Global Research article,179 Chossudovsky recalls past CIA covert operations such as those in Central America, Haiti, and Afghanistan. Illicit dope funded the so-called “Freedom Fighters” Langley sponsored in those areas. As an example, Chossudovsky noted that Iran-Contra rebels and the Afghan “muj” got their funds through “dirty money” being transformed into “covert money” by way of shell companies and the lending structure. Weapons and drugs and money flowed across the borders of Albania with Kosovo and Macedonia. For hefty commissions, “respectable” European banks, far removed from the fighting, dry-cleaned the dirty dollars. The drugs went one way, and the greenbacks another, helping pay the fighters and their trainers. Writing in Global Research,180 Prof. Chossudovsky added to our knowledge of the sources of support for the Bosnian Muslim Army and the KLA—opium-based drug money direct from the Golden Crescent (Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Iran). Mercenaries financed by Saudi Arabia and Kuwait had been fighting in Bosnia.181 And the Bosnian pattern was replicated in Kosovo: Mujahadeen [sic] mercenaries from various Islamic countries are reported to be fighting alongside the KLA [Kosovo Liberation Army] in Kosovo. German, Turkish and Afghan instructors were reported to be training the KLA in guerilla and diversion tactics.182 Worse, The trade in narcotics and weapons was allowed to prosper despite the presence since 1993 of a large contingent of American troops at the Albanian-Macedonian border with a mandate to enforce the embargo. The West had turned a blind eye. The revenues from oil and narcotics were used to finance the purchase of arms (often in terms of direct barter): “Deliveries of oil to Macedonia (skirting the Greek embargo [in 1993–94] can be used to cover heroin, as do deliveries of kalachnikov [sic] rifles to Albanian ‘brothers’ in Kosovo.

Best Digital Signage for Gyms Walk into a modern gym at peak hours and you’ll see the challenge immediately: members are distracted, staff are stretched thin, and important messages get lost between loud music and constant movement. Posters fade into the background, trainers repeat the same instructions, and promotions rarely reach the right audience at the right moment. This is where a well-implemented digital signage platform quietly changes how a gym operates. What Gyms Actually Need From Digital Signage Fitness environments have very specific requirements that differ from retail or hospitality. Through real deployments in gyms, studios, and health clubs, a few non-negotiables consistently emerge: Real-time content control for class schedules, trainer rotations, and last-minute changes Centralized management across multiple zones (reception, cardio floor, studios, locker areas) Low maintenance playback that doesn’t rely on staff remembering to update USBs Integrations with scheduling systems, music playlists, or fitness apps Clear ROI, whether through upselling classes, reducing front-desk questions, or improving member experience Any comparison of digital signage for gyms should start here. Crown TV: Built for Dynamic, Multi-Screen Environments Crown TV tends to perform strongly in gyms because it balances simplicity with depth. Many fitness operators struggle during rollout, especially when non-technical staff are expected to manage screens. Crown TV’s browser-based content management system reduces that friction. In practice, this means a regional gym chain can update class cancellations, trainer spotlights, or membership offers across all locations in minutes. Zoned scheduling allows morning bootcamp promos on studio screens, while cardio areas show motivational loops and real-time announcements. Key strengths gyms notice quickly: Fast deployment with minimal hardware complexity Template-driven content that staff can update without design skills Reliable cloud playback, reducing black screens during busy hours Support responsiveness, which matters when screens go down before a packed class schedule For gyms focused on operational efficiency and consistency across locations, these advantages translate directly into smoother daily operations. ScreenCloud: Strong Simplicity for Smaller Studios ScreenCloud often appeals to boutique studios or single-location gyms with limited content needs. Its interface is intuitive, and onboarding is generally quick. For a yoga or Pilates studio displaying class times, brand visuals, and simple announcements, ScreenCloud can be effective. Where it becomes limiting for larger gyms is scale and complexity. Managing dozens of screens with different content rules requires more manual effort. Integrations exist, but deeper automation typically requires workarounds or third-party tools. Best fit: Independent studios Low screen count environments Minimal scheduling complexity Yodeck: Hardware-Centric Control With Trade-Offs Yodeck is frequently chosen by gyms that want an all-in-one hardware and software bundle. The Raspberry Pi-based approach simplifies initial setup and ensures compatibility. However, gyms with rapid content changes sometimes find the workflow slower. Creating dynamic, time-sensitive messaging—like flash PT promotions or emergency announcements—can feel rigid compared to more cloud-native systems.
