Healing brings wholeness instead of brokenness—life instead of death. In New Testament Greek, the word sozo is the same word for both heal and save. The first-century mind intertwined the concepts of healing and salvation.

This is a simple way to identify the difference between a truth and lie: Does the thought lead you to Christ?

By guarding ourselves against the enemy’s thoughts, we permit righteous things to stay and contribute to the Lord’s will.

This is not to say that people will consciously block off Jesus after being let down by a friend. It is to state that as humans, we tend to transpose hurts onto others in order to avoid pain. When a friend or sibling fails to supply a need, we may build a wall against that person who caused offense. This becomes an issue when we unconsciously build a wall between ourselves and Jesus.

Salvation is healing [sozo], fullness of life, and life in abundance. There were two further points I felt I should have made in our earlier conversations, one of them being that doctrine is not belief, it is only one way of talking about belief, and the other being that the Greek word sozo, which is usually translated "saved," can also mean healed, restored, that sort of thing. So the conventional translation narrows the meaning of the word in a way that can create false expectations.

The Greek word for salvation, sozo, means 'to save and to heal.' Christ wants nothing less for each of us. He wants nothing less for you. Christ continues to work in our lives - long after we come to faith - as He exposes the broken places where we have lost hope, inviting us to bring all of it to Him.
