Unassembled at Birth Children are not born with fully connected brains ready to process the world. They are born with their brains unassembled. Imagine buying a computer, opening the box, and finding only a bag of parts. This is analogous to the child’s brain at birth: at birth newborns have 100 billion brain cells — the brain cells they will have for their entire life. But these cells are not connected.
