It's hard...coming to a place every day where people judge you and ignore you and hurt you. And dances make all of that worse. You get judged not only for who you are, but also your dress and your hair and what random person you got to be your date. And it's not right or fair.

But life is a sort of stage, right? Didn't Shakespeare say something like that? The characters, the lights--some do shine brighter than others. Like, some literally sparkle, almost to a fault. Some light up spaces you never knew were important, challenging you to see new perspectives. Some are duller, some may flicker, and they all can, at some point, cast creepy shadows. And some, like a flame, won't last forever. But they're all there, ideally, to play their part--however big or small--at eliminating the darkness.
