She was fierce, she was strong, she wasn’t simple. She was crazy and sometimes she barely slept. She always had something to say. She had flaws and that was ok. And when she was down, she got right back up. She was a beast in her own way, but one idea described her best. She was unstoppable and she took anything she wanted with a smile.

People believe that you'll recognize the monsters in your life the first time you meet them. They don't realize the greatest of monsters always appear as the best of friends.

When a bad shot points a bad gun at you, your best plan is to stand still and take your chance. In such a case the chance is not a bad one. - Jack

Of all the times to have a first kiss, headless dead bitches meandering through your house probably wasn't the best.

These days long lost too late. We see the changes for the best or worst. Hold onto memory wrapped up like a blanket around us. Live without fear. Do not let the sun set one day without showing or experiencing true gratitude or love. Do not walk in the shadows of the past.
R.M. Engelhardt (COFFEE ASS BLUES & OTHER POEMS)
I swear, I think my brother only let me move in so he'd have a live-in maid. He's too scared of marriage to get a wife, so his sister was the next best thing. I realize that comment could be taken wrong by certain folks seeing as though we're from Arkansas. But it’s not that way. I love him and he loves me. In a take a bullet for each other kinda way, not the marrying kind.
R.M. Gilmore (Becoming (Lynnie Russell Trilogy #1))
There is one kind of charity common enough among us, and which is certainly a good thing, though I do not think it the best thing we can have. It is that patchwork philanthropy which clothes the ragged, feeds the poor, and heals the sick and halts. I am far from decrying the noble spirit which seeks to help a poor or suffering fellow-being. But charities of the hospital and poor asylum kind are comparatively more common and fashionable among us Parsis. What advances a nation or community is not so much to prop up its weakest and most helpless members as to lift up the best and most gifted so as to make them of the greatest service to the country. I prefer this constructive philanthropy which seeks to educate and develop the faculties of the best of our young men.

Human beings are capable of extraordinary things. We can create and we can destroy, we can love or we can hate. Some people believe they have souls. While others think that there is only this. Just this. Reality. The news. Killings, wars, bombings, hate, prejudice. Death. And death? No one ever dies on television. Only the bad guys do. Not you. Just them. So death is without meaning. Happens without meaning due to media. We see but don't feel, we watch but haven't experienced. We can only sympathize. A gun doesn't fire on it's own and a fanatic doesn't just wake up one day and become a murderer. Hate doesn't have a face. Death doesn't have a face. Human beings become that face. All of us everyday. Whether you like it or not. Why? Because this is a mindset a culture a history. From the time we are children we are taught that this is right and this is wrong. This is what a man does. This is what a woman does. Children emulate the behaviors of adults. Parents, movie characters and just about everyone else. We live in a society based on ideals. We celebrate the intelligence of the human race and then we take on the guises of everything the opposite of that belief we've ever known and support violence, support war. Behaviors that any intelligent race should have abandoned many years ago. We are surrounded by violence, surrounded by what we still are and what we are not becoming. Frankly we are all still just primitives and not capable in any way shape or form of creating a complete and everlasting peace and that's the sad reality of it all and always has been. We're just human. Only human. The good, the bad and the ugly. The evil, the damaged and the sick. The rich, the poor and all the rest of us. So look at it this way. You can't change the world or make the world stop killing. You can't stop violence or hatred but you can walk away from it all. Violence is a part of being human. But so is love. So? Only fight if you have to. Live peacefully and as a peace keeper and do what you can to make the small part of your own world a better place. Whether that's thru creation, protest, teaching or just being who you are and doing what you do. You can't stop humanity from being humanity and you certainly can't stop all the horrible things that happen around the world everyday. So accept it. Light a candle, say a prayer, donate or meditate, listen to some music, write. But even if the human race isn't everything you wish it could be? Hold on to love. Hold onto friends. Hold onto hope or whatever religion or belief that guides you through the dark. Because in the end? You're just human and that's all that you can do. The best that you can do.
R.M. Engelhardt (R A W POEMS R.M. ENGELHARDT)
We could be Immortal If we just let go of hate If we just let go of chaos If we just let go of war If we just let go of guns We could be Immortal If we just embraced love Put human beings & nature first But instead we choose To be the worst examples Of our primitive selves Lacking in all of our best virtues Lacking in any new ideas or values Without these realizations We go one step forward & Always two steps back Never succeeding Never growing Dead

Among the available theories on the nature of mathematics, intuitionism seems to me to provide the best account of the relations between arithmetic and the human brain. The discoveries of the last few years in the psychology of arithmetic have brought new arguments to support the intuitionist view that neither Kant nor Poincaré could have known. These empirical results tend to con"rm Poincaré’s postulate that number belongs to the “natural objects of thought,” the innate categories according to which we apprehend the world.

Researchers also found that working in the 4- to 6-rep range (80 percent of one-rep max, or 1RM) is most effective for those who train regularly. The conclusion of this research is simple: the best way to build muscle and strength is to focus on heavy weightlifting and increase the weight lifted over time. Well,

Umm honey are you ok?” “Hmm?” “I said are you ok?” “Yes, of course,” said Felicity, “Why do you ask dear?” “No reason except that Henrick just threw up a red hairball, you’re watching static on TV, and Milo was standing by the back door with his paws crossed doing his best not to pee on the carpet.” “What? Oh God what time is it?” said Felicity feeling a little panicked. “6:30” “Six-Thirty?!? Only 5 minutes ago it was 4:00! My God all the children have had to eat is…is…”she couldn’t bring herself to say sugar and animal sheddings. Child services would probably show up if she uttered that out loud.

Ratan Tata speaks of JRD’s business ethics. One of India’s best known tax consultants, Dinesh Vyas, says that JRD never entered into a debate between ‘tax avoidance’ which was permissible and ‘tax evasion’ which was illegal; his sole motto was ‘tax compliance’. On one occasion a senior executive of a Tata company tried to save on taxes. Before putting up that case, the chairman of the company took him to JRD. Dinesh Vyas explained to JRD: ‘But Sir, it is not illegal.’ Softly JRD said: ‘Not illegal, yes. But is it right?’ Vyas says not in his decades of professional work had anyone ever asked him that question. Vyas later wrote in an article, ‘JRD would have been the most ardent supporter of the view expressed by Lord Denning: “The avoidance of tax may be lawful, but it is not yet a virtue.

Material rather than ideological considerations, Frommer suggests, best accounts for the insubordination of the national committees in this matter. To exempt mixed-marriage families from expulsion was to forego the opportunity to seize and redistribute their property.
