Once again, he was deducing a theory from principles and postulates, not trying to explain the empirical data that experimental physicists studying cathode rays had begun to gather about the relation of mass to the velocity of particles. Coupling Maxwell’s theory with the relativity theory, he began (not surprisingly) with a thought experiment. Jesus’ simple condition, without calling into question the Mosaic code, cuts through the double standard and drives hard to reach the conscience.

I’d been broken many times in my short life, and I thought it likely I would be broken yet again. I took comfort from this. Being broken was not the end, it was an opportunity to grow.

We all have limits. That was another life lesson I learned.

Never apologize, unless you have truly done something wrong. Goodness knows this life is difficult enough without undue deference.

Lessons. There were always lessons to be learned as we journeyed through life. I didn’t know what today’s lesson was yet, but I knew there was one

I would be her everything—the center of her world.  I would spoil her utterly. Cherish her completely.  A broken doll, wounded by a life of abuse her father had failed to protect her from. I’d fit the broken pieces back together, and in doing so, make her mine.

We cannot escape the jaws of loss. Once touched by it, it follows us through our life.

Lessons, there were always lessons in life. That even those seeming most powerless have a power of sorts, might have been the most profound.
