Maaf memang mudah. Juga tidak perlu apa-apa kos untuk diluahkan. Cuma kadang-kadang manusia sahaja yang menganggapnya begitu.
Syud (Tentang... Dhiya)
Lay down the thorn, boy king. Haven’t you earned a bit of rest? Aren’t you tired?' He was. Saints, he was. He thought he had grown used to his scars, but he had never grasped how much of his will it would take to hide them. He had fought and sacrificed and bled. He had gone long days without rest and long nights without comfort. All for Ravka, all for an ideal he would never attain and a country that would never care.
Leigh Bardugo (King of Scars (King of Scars, #1))
Nikolai's glib demeanor vanished. "I cannot take a wife while I am in this state. I cannot forge a marriage founded on lies." "Aren't most?" "Ever the romantic." "Ever practical." (KoS, Ch. 2)
Leigh Bardugo (King of Scars (King of Scars, #1))
He silenced the thought, already itching to get inside her, his tongue, or his fingers, or his cock. After all these years of wanting, he would gladly accept whatever access to her body she gave him. He just wanted in.
Amber Belldene (Blood Entangled (Blood Vine #2))

Enchelah (Kapsul Nurani)
Hekate was invoked as Soteira on Kos, and there is a strong possibility that she was included as one of the twelve gods[179] on the island. There are numerous inscriptions on the island attesting to her presence there.
Sorita d'Este (Circle for Hekate - Volume I: History & Mythology (The Circle for Hekate Project Book 1))

We’re all monsters. The world won’t let us survive otherwise. But we’re not dispassionate. However damaged, we still have hearts.
Gaja J. Kos (Emergence (Shadowfire, #2))
New Rule: Since Glenn Beck is clearly onto us, liberals must launch our plan for socialist domination immediately. Listen closely, comrades, I've received word from General Soros and our partners in the UN--Operation Streisand is a go. Markos Moulitsas, you and your Daily Kos-controlled army of gay Mexican day laborers will join with Michael Moore's Prius tank division north of Branson, where you will seize the guns of everyone who doesn't blame America first, forcing them into the FEMA concentration camps. That's where ACORN and I will re-educate them as atheists and declare victory in the war on Christmas.
Bill Maher (The New New Rules: A Funny Look At How Everybody But Me Has Their Head Up Their Ass)
If they are left-wing, they can subscribe to Daily Kos and Huffington Post. If they are right-wing, they can subscribe to Breitbart or the Drudge Report.6 Less often do they subscribe to outlets that provide several points of view. As a result, their thinking rarely gets challenged, so they become still less likely or able to assess information critically.
James W. Loewen (Lies My Teacher Told Me: Everything Your American History Textbook Got Wrong)
She took hold of him through his pants. "I want this inside me five minutes ago.
Amber Belldene (Blood Entangled (Blood Vine #2))

George A. Kos (Wizards' Secret Service. Classified: The Brotherhood of Darkness (Book 2))
This was how bullying survived in modern society. Everyone who had the power to do something about it turned the other way and pretended it didn’t exist.
Kos Play (The Accidental Summoning (System School, #1))
Kos had different tastes. He was on the lookout for that Midwestern housewife attending a conference with her husband. There was usually at least one in the hotel bar. She was always seated in a corner drinking a cocktail and pretending to read a novel while her husband was off doing manly things. Kos knew something Mason didn't—stewardesses partied in every port, but housewives were still waiting for the party.
Amber Belldene (Blood Entangled (Blood Vine #2))
First, do no harm . . .’   Commonly attributed to Hippokrates of Kos, c. 460 BC ‘Every surgeon carries within himself a small cemetery, where from time to time he goes to pray – a place of bitterness and regret, where he must look for an explanation for his failures.’ René Leriche, La philosophie de la chirurgie, 1951
Henry Marsh (Do No Harm: Stories of Life, Death and Brain Surgery)
People want the things they’re told to want, regardless of their innate value.

They build places like this with ceilings high overhead and walls very far apart to make a person feel small. They build places like this to make it seem like human beings don’t live here. People don’t live here. Things bigger than people do. Out there, you’re angry at the royal family that governs Kos and dictates everyone’s lives. In here, you’re scared of them.

Kos Play (The Accidental Summoning (System School, #1))
Fafhrd felt as if he had walked unsuspecting into the jaws of a gigantic serpent. His barbaric mind was stirred to the deeps. He thought of the grim god Kos brooding alone in the icy silence of the Cold Waste. He thought of the masked powers Fate and Chance, and of the game they play for the blood and brains of men. And he did not will these thoughts. Rather did the freezing fear seem to crystallize them, so that they dropped into his consciousness like snowflakes.
Fritz Leiber (Swords Against Death (Lankhmar, 2))
The atmosphere in Nightbirds was ever five minutes after a big argument and no one telling you what happened. Everyone in their neutral corners replaying KO’s and low blows and devising too-late parries. You didn’t know what it had been about or who’d won, just that nobody wanted to talk about it, they glance around and knead grudges in their fists.
Colson Whitehead (Harlem Shuffle (Ray Carney, #1))
Bhogpur is two kos from Bhagmalpur," he said. If Bhogpur is two kos from Bhagmalpur, then it may be possible to make a reasonable guess at our position. It depended on what he meant by a kos. "There are seventy rassis in one kos," Karam Chand said. "There are twelve hundred laggis in one kos," said Bhosla in a sudden garrulous outburst. "There are three thousand six hundred gaj in one kos, said Jagganath, the youngest boatman. "Now I am telling you," said G. "If one kos is three thousand six hundred gaj, there are three miles and eighty yards in one kos." If this was so, we had not travelled more than five miles since the previous morning.* * There is also a gaukos, a rather vague measure - the distance a cow's bellow can be heard.
Eric Newby (Slowly Down the Ganges)
You mean they’re both afraid to challenge the Thieves’ Guild, don’t you?” Ivrian said, eyes wide and face twisted by loathing. “I always thought my Mouse was a nobleman first and a thief second. Thieving’s nothing. My father lived by cruel thievery done on rich wayfarers and neighbors less powerful than he, yet he was an aristocrat. Oh, you’re cowards, both of you! Poltroons!” she finished, turning her eyes flashing with cold scorn first on the Mouser, then on Fafhrd. The latter could stand it no longer. He sprang to his feet, face flushed, fists clenched at his sides, quite unmindful of his down-clattered mug and the ominous creak his sudden action drew from the sagging floor. “I am not a coward!” he cried. “I’ll dare Thieves’ House and fetch you Krovas’ head and toss it with blood a-drip at Vlana’s feet. I swear that, witness me, Kos the god of dooms, by the brown bones of Nalgron my father and by his sword Graywand here at my side!
Fritz Leiber (Swords and Deviltry (Lankhmar, 1))
Were the words his, or did they belong to Kos? What was he, anyway, but a piece of this burning web spun from a city’s dreams? He joined to Him by faith, by the burning of incense, by prayer, by kneeling before a fire. Where did Abelard end and God begin? They grew from each other.
Max Gladstone (Four Roads Cross (Craft Sequence, #5))
All of plucked the fruits. [,,] filled our bags to carry with us for onward journey. After we walked one kos our friends remembered that it was forbidden to carry fruits outside the area. If one did, we had to leave behind solid gold worth the weight of the plucked fruits
Vishnubhat Godse (1857: The Real Story Of The Great Uprising)
My swings getting better, racking up them ko’s. My swords getting sharper. You see how it glows? I’m not talking metal or tangible flame. I’m talking my mental not being the same. I’m changing things up. Get used to this view. I do what I can to give you a clue. There’s no dead end in this rendezvous. So follow directions and you’ll make it through.

Ancient Ways The Greek Isles are divided into several major chains lying in the Aegean, the Mediterranean, and the Ionian seas. The Cyclades chain alone includes more than two hundred islands clustered in the southern Aegean. In the southeastern Aegean, between Crete and Asia Minor, there are 163 islands known as the Dodecanese chain. Only 26 of these are inhabited; the largest of them is Rhodes, where the world-famous Colossus once stood. The Ionian chain of western Greece (named for the eponymous sea) includes the large island of Corfu. Cyprus lies in the eastern Mediterranean, south of Turkey. Today, Cyprus stands politically divided, with Turkish rule in the north, and a government in the south that remains independent from Greece. However, the island has always been linked culturally and linguistically to Greece, and it shares traditions and ways of life with the smaller islands scattered to its south and west. In the Greek Isles, history blends myth and fact. Historians glean information about the early days of the Greek Isles from the countless ancient stories and legends set there. According to Homer, battleships sailed from the harbors of Kos and Rhodes during the Trojan War. A well-known legend holds that the Argonauts sought refuge from a storm on the island of Anafi in the southeastern Cyclades. The lovely island of Lésvos is mentioned throughout the Homeric epics and in many ancient Greek tales. Tradition has it that the god Helios witnessed the island of Rhodes rising mystically from the sea, and chose it for his home. The ill-fated Daedalus and his son, Icarus, attempted to soar through the skies over the magical island of Crete, where the great god Zeus was born in a mountaintop cave. Villagers still recount how Aphrodite emerged from the sea on a breathtaking stretch of beach near the village of Paphos on Cyprus. Visitors must actually lay eyes on a Greek island to gain a full appreciation for these ancient stories. Just setting foot on one of these islands makes you feel as if you’ve stepped into one of the timeless tales from ancient Greek mythology.

Epicharmus of Kos
The not-so-dirty secret is that Greece is doing the EU’s bidding and working tirelessly to monitor, punish, isolate, and violently repress refugees, stopping most of them from entering the continent. Frontex quietly supports it. Greece has constructed a network of detention centers on the Greek islands and initiated illegal pushbacks at border crossings and on the Mediterranean. More than 41,000 migrants since 2020 were illegally pushed back, according to the Turkey’s Ombudsman Institution report in 2022, with Greece deploying a range of technological innovations to deter new arrivals.37 During the opening of Greece’s “closed controlled access center” in Kos in November 2021, two Greek Orthodox priests blessed the facility while EU politicians looked on.

In September 2020, a Daily Kos/Civiqs poll reported that over half of the Republicans surveyed believed either partially or mostly in QAnon’s theories . . . at least the theories they were aware of. Because tumble further down the QAnon rabbit hole, and you’ll find Satanic Panic–esque, flagrantly fascist beliefs that not every subscriber even knows about (at least not at first): theories about Jeffrey Epstein co-conspiring with Tom Hanks to molest hordes of minors, Hillary Clinton drinking the blood of children in order to prolong her life, the Rothschilds running a centuries-old ring of Satan worshippers, and beyond. But QAnon quickly grew to encapsulate much more than stereotypical far-right extremists. Take a soft turn to the left, and you’ll find a more outwardly palatable denomination of conspiritualists whose paranoias might be slightly less focused on Hillary Clinton worshipping Satan and more on Big Pharma forcing evil Western medicine on them and their kids. These believers wield a slightly different glossary of loaded terms, some co-opted from feminist politics—like “forced penetration” (which conflates vaccination with sexual assault) and “my body, my choice” (an antivaxx/anti-mask slogan purloined from the pro-choice movement). Because social media algorithms track people’s keywords in order to feed them only what they’re already interested in, a sprawling spiderweb of customized QAnon offshoots was able to form.

Hoe diep die see.
Ryk Hattingh (Huilboek (Afrikaans Edition))
Terwyl ek kou, as daar iets in my mond is, is dit asof daardie gevoel dat ek net wil doodgaan 'n bietjie weggaan.
- Kanaan

People hurt each other,” he said. “The closer they get, the deeper the wound. That’s just how it works.
Eleanor Kos (Singing in the Wilderness (Wine & Song, #3))
The first is in late August, when seventy-one refugees are discovered dead in the back of a smuggler’s truck parked at the side of a road in Austria, with putrid juices dripping from the door. The second comes a week later, when the body of a Kurdish toddler, Alan Kurdi, is photographed face down on a beach in Turkey, having drowned with his brother and mother in a failed attempt to reach Kos. Suddenly Europe cares.
Patrick Kingsley (The New Odyssey: The Story of the Twenty-First Century Refugee Crisis)
The Greek government has spent the last few months simultaneously begging the EU to ease up on its austerity measures, and contemplating whether to leave the EU entirely. It has no time or energy to devote to the secondary crisis in its islands, which worsens by the day. The number arriving in places such as Kos and Lesvos is now four times higher than the entire 2014 total, causing a huge logjam. When the flow was slower, refugees would be given temporary documentation within a couple of days – paperwork that would then allow them to change money, buy a ferry ticket to the mainland, and then work their way towards the Macedonian border.
Patrick Kingsley (The New Odyssey: The Story of the Twenty-First Century Refugee Crisis)
Some people can’t handle the true you. Those people are not your people, and that is okay.
Kathryn Kos (Forties on Fire: Honor Your Moods, Discover Your Sexuality, Thrive Throughout Your 40s)
Your people will see and accept you without judgment or expectations. They will stand firmly rooted with you throughout your wildest of emotions. If judgment or expectations are coming up, this is because something you are saying or doing mirrors an insecurity they hold in their life. It’s always easier to blame than it is to look within yourself.
Kathryn Kos (Forties on Fire: Honor Your Moods, Discover Your Sexuality, Thrive Throughout Your 40s)
—¿Qué narrador no quiere oír historias nuevas?
Sue Harrison (Call Down the Stars (Storyteller Trilogy, #3))
The priesthood of Kos deals with high-pressure truths at temperatures that could melt the flesh off your bones.
