Her superpower is finding joy in small moments: a hike with her dog, a pretty sunset, a new plant flowering, a show to binge watch. She has found purpose and meaning in the things she can control, and finds that healing, acceptance, and grief are a daily calibration.
Ramani Durvasula (It's Not You: Identifying and Healing from Narcissistic People)
You don’t need extra food, extra water, extra clothing for extra warmth – anything extra. You don’t need soap or deodorant. Everything you carry you should need daily.
Aspen Matis (Girl in the Woods: A Memoir)
What, then, does Christ’s invitation mean? It doesn’t mean He’ll make life as easy as a cruise; instead, He promises to equip us for the long hike. How? By giving us the knowledge and wisdom we need to take the next step at each point on the journey.
Zig Ziglar (The One Year Daily Insights with Zig Ziglar (One Year Signature Line))
Seeing the psychologist Steven Pinker making pronouncements about things intellectual has a similar effect to encountering a drive-in Burger King while hiking in the middle of a national park. It is under such an oversensitive bull***t detector that I have been writing this book.
Nassim Nicholas Taleb (Skin in the Game: Hidden Asymmetries in Daily Life (Incerto, #5))
I am never bothered by normal people; it is the bull***tter in the "intellectual" profession who bothers me. Seeing the psychologist Steven Pinker making pronouncements about things intellectual has a similar effect to encountering a drive-in Burger King while hiking in the middle of a national park.

Eric Greitens says that there are three primary forms of happiness: the happiness of pleasure, the happiness of grace, and the happiness of excellence5. He compares them to the primary colors, the basis on which the entire spectrum is created. The happiness of pleasure is largely sensory. It’s a good meal when you’re hungry, the smell of air after it rains, waking up warm and cozy in your bed. The happiness of grace is gratitude. It’s looking over to see the love of your life sleeping next to you and whispering, “thank you.” It’s taking inventory of what you do have. It’s when you speak to something greater than yourself, expressing humility and awe. And then there is the happiness of excellence. The kind of happiness that comes from the pursuit of something great. Not the moment you arrive at the top of the mountain and raise your fists in victory, but the process of falling in love with the hike. It is meaningful work. It is flow. It is the purpose that sears identity and builds character and channels our energy toward something greater than the insatiable, daily pursuit of our fleeting desires.
Brianna Wiest (101 Essays That Will Change The Way You Think)
You might get up at noon and work at home in your dressing gown, in a pigsty of a living room. You might check into a different hotel room every day and work on the bed. Your creative process and working habits might look like total chaos to an outsider, but if they work for you, that’s all that matters. And there will be some method in the madness – patterns in your daily activities that are vital to your creativity. These are the things you need to do to keep your imagination alive – whether it’s sitting at a desk by 6am, using the same pen, notebook or make of computer, hitch-hiking across America, putting rotten apples in your desk so that the scent wafts into your nostrils as you work, or sitting in your favourite café with a glass of absinthe.
Mark McGuinness (Time Management For Creative People)
As vāta and pitta are stabilized, the mind’s gunas, or qualities, must also be addressed. Known as the mahagunas, they are sattva, rajas and tāmas, developed in the ancient Indian system of philosophy called Sankhya. The lethargic or tāmasic guna is a necessary energy for the mind, as it needs to periodically disengage and rest. In excess, however, it promotes laziness, lethargy and depression. Rajas or the dynamic guna, promotes activity, curiosity and a do-er mentality, but it also promotes arrogance, egotistical narcissism and bullying. Sattva is the quality of harmony, balance and oneness with the environment. For more than half of our day, we should live with the quality of sattva dominating in our mind. However, too much sattva will prevent us from keeping boundaries from others and may lead to violations of our space by people who have not developed mentally and emotionally to be sattvic. Activities that cleanse the body of the tāmas, such as exercise, team sports and hiking in nature, are encouraged to dilute negative energies by infusing positive energies into the body through all inlets: food, sound, conversations, visual objects, smells, the sun and the environment that penetrates through our skin. As a person takes in the environment, it may change his/ her mental composition, as we know emotions can change neurotransmitters, which alter hormone levels and the immune system.
Bhaswati Bhattacharya (Everyday Ayurveda: Daily Habits That Can Change Your Life in a Day)
For a protest movement to arise out of [the] traumas of daily life,” the sociologists Frances Fox Piven and Richard Cloward have observed, “the social arrangements that are ordinarily perceived as just and immutable must come to seem both unjust and mutable.”4 This usually happened during extraordinary times, when large-scale social transformations or economic disturbances—the postwar housing shortage, say—profoundly upset the status quo. But it was not enough simply to perceive injustice. Mass resistance was possible only when people believed they had the collective capacity to change things. For poor people, this required identifying with the oppressed, and counting yourself among them—which was something most trailer park residents were absolutely unwilling to do. During rent strikes, tenants believed they had a moral obligation to one another.5 If tenants resisted excessive rent hikes or unwarranted evictions, it was because they invested in their homes and neighborhoods. They felt they belonged there. In the trailer park, that sentiment was almost dead. For most residents, Scott among them, the goal was to leave, not to plant roots and change things. Some residents described themselves as “just passing through,” even if they had been passing through nearly all their life.
Matthew Desmond (Evicted: Poverty and Profit in the American City)

Nevertheless, the obvious and overwhelming evidence of the damage we are causing is now increasingly impossible for reasonable people to ignore. It is widely known by now that there is a nearly unanimous view among all scientists authoring peer-reviewed articles related to the climate crisis that it threatens our future, that human activities are largely if not entirely responsible, and that action is needed urgently to prevent the catastrophic harm it is already starting to bring. More importantly, Mother Nature is reminding us almost daily that the impacts of the climate crisis are growing steadily more severe, with more frequent and powerful climate-related extreme weather events. Every night, the TV news is like a nature hike through the Book of Revelation. But before diving further into examples of the unprecedented harm we are causing, please remember how important it is to guard against feelings of despair. Despair, after all, is simply another form of denial, and can serve to paralyze the will we need to fight our way out of this crisis. And bear in mind that the hopeful news about the availability of solutions is a powerful antidote to the feelings that can be aroused by the disconcerting news about the self-harm we are presently inflicting upon humanity.
Al Gore (An Inconvenient Sequel: Truth to Power: Your Action Handbook to Learn the Science, Find Your Voice, and Help Solve the Climate Crisis)
This visual of two different worlds and planes of existence converging on a mountain top was actually quite amazing and eye opening to witness. The “haves” and the “have nots.”  It gave me a new perspective. More perspective than I feel I’d gained on the journey so far. People simply don’t know how good they have it, even when things seem terrible or difficult. Although I’d chosen to do this hike and live this way temporarily, I understood there were people out there who lived like this permanently, without any choice, while in much worse conditions and circumstances. Any Dick and Jane can say, “Yeah, I know there are people out there who live like that, and I understand and feel sorry for them.” I’m sure some people reading this are thinking that same thing. I’ll tell you right now, I’ve been to third world countries and you can see it, sympathize with it, and think you understand it; but in reality, you may not. Not until you’ve experienced and lived it for yourself. I thought I understood it simply by seeing it, but it wasn’t until I’d lived parts of that “have not” experience, that I realized just how much I didn’t understand it. Defecating outside and maybe not having toilet paper. Sleeping outside, not having running water or hot water, not having showers, and being miles from the nearest help. Not having whatever you want to eat every day or possibly running out of food, or not finding water. Not having electricity, not having climate control, and having your feet as your only means of transportation. Dealing with any and all elements whenever they should arise, as well as having limited hygiene products and smelling terrible every day. This only scratches the surface. I won’t pretend to know exactly what it’s like for people who are stuck in this lifestyle permanently, but in making this journey I certainly gained a much better understanding. I knew that even though it was the life I’d chosen to live at that time, I still had it better than probably half the people on the planet. I could get a reprieve (for a price) anytime I went into town. I could end any suffering, discomfort, and pain I experienced on any day I chose... but I didn’t.  I was enjoying the experience and perspective I was gaining on an almost daily basis. The time for personal reflection and the thousands of moments I had each day that belonged to me and only me was intoxicating. The whole experience was surreal, yet at the same time more real than anything in the modern world. Everything around you out there “is what it is” and isn’t trying to be anything else. It’s simple and honest, which is more than can be said for the “modern” world, where many things are never as they seem, and most everybody wants something from you.

Alejandro de Humboldt National Park Outside of the major cities, the great majority of Cuba is agricultural or undeveloped. Cuba has a number of national parks where it is possible to see and enjoy some plants and animals that are truly unique to the region. Because it is relatively remote and limited in size, the Cuban Government has recognized the significance and sensitivity of the island’s biodiversity. It is for these reasons many of these parks have been set aside as protected areas and for the enjoyment of the people. One of these parks is the Alejandro de Humboldt National Park, named for Alexander von Humboldt a Prussian geographer, naturalist and explorer who traveled extensively in Latin America between 1799 and 1804. He explored the island of Cuba in 1800 and 1801. In the 1950’s during its time of the Cuban Embargo, the concept of nature reserves, on the island, was conceived with development on them continuing into the 1980’s, when a final sighting of the Royal Woodpecker, a Cuban subspecies of the ivory-billed woodpecker known as the “Campephilus principalis,” happened in this area. The Royal Woodpecker was already extinct in its former American habitats. This sighting in 1996, prompted these protected areas to form into a national park that was named Alejandro de Humboldt National Park. Unfortunately no further substantiated sightings of this species has bird has occurred and the species is now most likely extinct. The park, located on the eastern end of Cuba, is tropical and mostly considered a rain forest with mountains and some of the largest rivers in the Caribbean. Because it is the most humid place in Cuba it can be challenging to hike. The park has an area of 274.67 square miles and the elevation ranges from sea level to 3,832 feet at top of El Toldo Peak. In 2001 the park was declared a UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site. Tours are available for those interested in learning more about the flora & fauna, wild life and the natural medicines that are indigenous to these jungles. “The Exciting Story of Cuba” by award winning Captain Hank Bracker is available from Amazon.com, Barnes&Noble.com, BooksAMillion.com and Independent Book Vendors. Certainly, I believe that wilderness experiences are both restorative and essential on many levels. I am constantly contriving to get myself and my family out of the city to go hiking or camping in forests, mountains, and meadows in our Pacific Northwest home and beyond. But in making such experiences the core of our "connection to nature," we set up a chasm between our daily lives ("non-nature") and wilder places ("true nature"), even though it is in our everyday lives, in our everyday homes, that we eat, consume energy, run the faucet, compost, flush, learn, and live. It is here, in our lives, that we must come to know our essential connection to the wilder earth, because it is here, in the activity of our daily lives, that we most surely affect this earth, for good or for ill.
Lyanda Lynn Haupt (Crow Planet: Essential Wisdom from the Urban Wilderness)
it's not arrogant to wow yourself every once in awhile. its not arrogance, its just paying attention. Wonder includes the capacity to be in awe of humanity, even your own. It allows us to jedison the dangerous belief that things worthy of wonder can only be located on nature hikes and scenic overlooks this can distract us from the beauty flowing through us daily. For ever second that our organs and bones sustain us is a miracle. When those bones heal, when our wounds scab over, this is our call to marvel at our bodies. Their regeneration, the stability or frailty. This grows our sense of dignity. To be able to marvel at the face of our neighbor with the same awe we have for the mountain top, the sunlight refracting. This manner of vision is what will keep us from destroying each other
Cole Arthur Riley (This Here Flesh: Spirituality, Liberation, and the Stories That Make Us)
Second—I’d take much better care of myself. There were simple things I could do. I could start with my poor feet. These little two feet carried me each day for miles and miles, steady and flexed, tired and aching from constant daily pounding, bruised scratched and sometimes rubbed red-raw, my weight pressing and pressing them. I decided now that each night in my tent I’d massage them. I would knead them with lotion because they always ached, and at the end of thirty-mile days they burned—and it would be luxurious—something I could have done the entire way because I had been carrying sun lotion but had never taken the ten sacred minutes to do for myself.
Aspen Matis (Girl in the Woods: A Memoir)
The woods and mountains opened her eyes to the beauty of Nature, and the teenaged city girl marvelled at views that Isabel regarded as commonplace. At the beginning of Mary’s sojourn she was inclined to take a book to a rustic place with a view, then spend hours there alone, reading, brooding and daydreaming. But she soon learned that woods and mountains were made for hiking, and thereafter she rarely took a book with her on her daily excursions into the outdoors.

Skin cancer is the most common type of cancer in the United States, yet it's also one of the most preventable and treatable when detected early. In Clermont, Florida, where sunny weather and outdoor lifestyles are part of daily life, regular skin cancer screenings are especially important. These screenings are a proactive approach to identifying skin changes that may indicate early stages of cancer. With the help of dermatologists and primary care providers in Clermont, residents have access to comprehensive skin checks designed to catch suspicious spots before they become life-threatening. Skin cancer can affect anyone, regardless of age, gender, or skin tone. However, individuals with fair skin, a history of sunburns, frequent sun exposure, or a family history of skin cancer are at higher risk. Clermont’s climate, with its warm temperatures and high UV index, means residents often spend time outdoors, whether at the lake, hiking, or simply enjoying the sunshine. While these activities are enjoyable and promote well-being, they also increase exposure to harmful UV rays. This makes skin cancer screenings a crucial part of preventive healthcare in the community. Contact us : 352-810-4187 Address : 3232 Citrus Tower Blvd Clermont FL, 34711

Booking a flight doesn’t have to break the bank. In fact, millions of travelers have discovered budget-friendly airfare using platforms like Expedia. ☎️+1(888) 714-9824 Expedia is known for making travel easy and affordable, especially for users who take advantage of its built-in tools and filters. Whether you're planning a quick weekend getaway or a multi-city international trip, finding cheap flights on Expedia is completely doable. ☎️+1(888) 714-9824 The key lies in knowing exactly how to use its features efficiently. So let’s break down the smartest ways to book low-cost airfare. ☎️+1(888) 714-9824 1. Be Flexible With Your Travel Dates Flight prices fluctuate drastically based on the day and time of travel. If your dates are flexible, Expedia can help you find major savings. ☎️+1(888) 714-9824 Use the “Flexible Dates” option while searching to see prices before and after your selected dates. You’ll often find midweek flights cheaper. ☎️+1(888) 714-9824 Traveling on Tuesdays or Wednesdays tends to offer the best prices, especially for domestic routes. The calendar view highlights the most budget-friendly days clearly. ☎️+1(888) 714-9824 2. Use Filters to Compare More Than Just Price While price is often the top concern, Expedia lets you apply filters for flight duration, layovers, and airlines. These tools help spot great value. ☎️+1(888) 714-9824 A nonstop flight might cost a little more, but it saves time and could be cheaper when factoring in meals and transport. ☎️+1(888) 714-9824 Filters like “Shortest Duration” or “Lowest Price + Best Times” help users get the best mix of savings and convenience. ☎️+1(888) 714-9824 3. Bundle Flights With Hotels or Cars One of Expedia’s most powerful money-saving features is bundling. When you book a flight along with a hotel or rental car, discounts apply. ☎️+1(888) 714-9824 These travel packages are not only convenient but also often come with exclusive rates not available through standalone bookings. ☎️+1(888) 714-9824 If you’re planning a full trip, this strategy can knock hundreds off your total cost and reduce booking time significantly. ☎️+1(888) 714-9824 4. Search Using “Nearby Airports” Many cities have more than one airport. Expedia’s “Nearby Airports” feature allows users to search beyond their first-choice departure or arrival city. ☎️+1(888) 714-9824 Sometimes flying into a regional or secondary airport can offer much lower fares, even with the added transportation. ☎️+1(888) 714-9824 This option is especially useful for metro areas with multiple air travel hubs, like New York or Los Angeles. ☎️+1(888) 714-9824 5. Enable Price Alerts Expedia allows users to set up price tracking alerts for specific routes. Once enabled, you’ll receive updates when prices go up or down. ☎️+1(888) 714-9824 This is perfect if you’re not ready to book yet but want to catch a deal the moment it appears. ☎️+1(888) 714-9824 Daily or weekly notifications help you strike when prices drop suddenly, especially during flash sales or off-peak season. ☎️+1(888) 714-9824 6. Book in Advance—But Not Too Early There’s a sweet spot for booking flights—usually between 21 and 60 days before departure. Expedia shows trend-based pricing for most routes. ☎️+1(888) 714-9824 Booking too far in advance can sometimes result in higher fares, especially if airlines haven’t released their full pricing tiers yet. ☎️+1(888) 714-9824 Watch for seasonal trends and holiday price hikes, then time your booking for the optimal window. ☎️+1(888) 714-9824 7. Use Expedia Rewards and Coupons Expedia’s One Key rewards system gives travelers the ability to earn points on flights. These points can be used to reduce future costs. ☎️+1(888) 714-9824 Occasionally, Expedia also offers promo codes or app-exclusive discounts that apply directly at checkout—more savings in a few clicks. ☎️+1(888) 714-9824 Stack your rewards with a good credit card offer, and the savings really begin to add up quickly.
