Ga vooruit. Altijd vooruit. - Lydia

TO A BLOSSOMING SAGUARO You have kin in Mexico. Shooting you is called “cactus plugging.” Humidity & wind speed shape the path of a bullet. Your shadow will outlive my father. That’s kind of comforting. Ghost-faced bats pollinate your dog-eared flowers which smell like wet rope, melon. The sky is a century with no windows. I say things like that. Sorry. You have more rights than the undocumented: I need a permit to uproot you. Ofelia believes only rain can touch all of you. My mother is my favorite immigrant. After her? The sonnet.
Ada Limon (You Are Here: Poetry in the Natural World)
Oh, I’m not finished with you yet, Quinn,” Damien breathes, tossing the Santa hat onto the floor and pulling on his Ghostface mask instead. “We’re just getting started.

Freddy never uses a gun, does he? Ghostface? Michael? Jade can’t even imagine Michael Myers using a gun. They’re so impersonal, so “all at once” instead of “one at a time.” Jason Voorhees? C’mon. He’ll use a speargun, sure, but that’s just for a 3-D gag. No, any self-respecting slasher finding a pistol in his hand, what he’s supposed to do is look down at it like it’s a strange bug, then shake his hand until this bitey, attention-drawing thing is gone again.
Stephen Graham Jones (Don't Fear the Reaper (The Indian Lake Trilogy, #2))
Here I am, in a stranger’s bathroom, getting railed by Ghostface. And even better, he’s fucking my brains out through the hole he ripped in my fishnets. Please don’t kill me Mr. Ghostface. Not yet, at least.
Molly Doyle (Scream For Us (Order of the Unseen, #0.5))
Poor Alex,” I recite Ghostface’s famous line. “You think this is all about you? You think you’re still the star?

They would need a logo for the app, something that instantly enticed users to download and use Picaboo. Reggie and Evan sat together and created the logo over the course of a few hours, going back and forth on ways to symbolize the disappearing nature of the app. They settled on a friendly ghost who was smiling and sticking out its tongue. Evan drew the ghost in Adobe InDesign while Reggie tossed in ideas. Reggie named the ghost Ghostface Chillah, after the Wu-Tang Clan rapper Ghostface Killah. Evan studied the hundred most popular apps in the app store and noticed that none had yellow logos. To make Picaboo stand out, he put the Ghostface Chillah logo on a bright yellow background. Reggie slapped the logo on Facebook and Twitter pages he made for the app. While Evan worked hard on the design and vision for the product and Bobby coded, Reggie contributed less. Plenty of successful Silicon Valley founders do not write code; but they play other roles, relentless hustling in the early days of their companies, dominating nontechnical jobs like marketing and user growth. Reggie simply wasn’t doing that. Having recently turned twenty-one, he wanted to enjoy the Los Angeles nightlife, and he stayed out into the wee hours of the morning. While Evan and Bobby lived the plot of Silicon Valley, Reggie was more Entourage. Evan had always remembered and valued what Clarence Carter had told him when he worked at Red Bull, “When everyone is tired and the night is over, who stays and helps out? Because those are your true friends. Those are the hard workers, the people that believe that working hard is the right thing to do.” His co-founders felt Reggie was not pulling his weight, and it was beginning to cause resentment.

I hesitate for a moment, pondering which mask I’ll wear. I can go with the Ghostface one that I’ve covered in pink gems, or maybe the goth girl version of Mike Myers, or the little LED one. I opt for the pink Ghostface mask. “Very cutesy… very demure… very mindf—” Shut the fuck up, Tylisha, I scold myself. TikTok has fucking ruined me.
