The inability to resist the exciting but costly option increased dramatically with BAC level. It should not surprise us that the risk task used by these experimenters is a variation of one used to study patients with PFC damage, and that this same pattern of being attracted to immediately appealing but ultimately less rewarding options is found in this population. The relative insensitivity to negative feedback or long-term consequences induced by alcohol can lead to many dangerous behaviors, ranging from drunk driving to unsafe sex.
