Nadále uznávají demokracii, svobodný trh, lidská práva a sociální zodpovědnost, domnívají se však, že se tyto pěkné vymoženosti mají zastavit na hranicích, protože s nepřizpůsobivými imigranty jsou neudržitelné. Věří, že k zachování svobody a blahobytu v Británii nebo v Americe je nutné postavit zeď a nežádoucí cizince k sobě nepouštět. Cizinců se liberalismus netýká.

Instinctul iubirii e reminiscența originii divine. Prin iubire numai se poate uni sufletul bărbatului cu sufletul femeii pentru a deveni parte din lumea spirituală. Iubirea aceasta e rodul divin al sufletului omenesc. Dumnezeu sub chipul iubirii trăiește în om.
Iubire și Dumnezeu, conștient sau inconștient, trebuie să alcătuiască suprema preocupare a sufletului omenesc. Fără de ele omul nici n-ar putea exista!

Geopolitics is ultimately the study of the balance between options and limitations. A country's geography determines in large part what vulnerabilities it faces and what tools it holds.
"Countries with flat tracks of land -- think Poland or Russia -- find building infrastructure easier and so become rich faster, but also find themselves on the receiving end of invasions. This necessitates substantial standing armies, but the very act of attempting to gain a bit of security automatically triggers angst and paranoia in the neighbors.
"Countries with navigable rivers -- France and Argentina being premier examples -- start the game with some 'infrastructure' already baked in. Such ease of internal transport not only makes these countries socially unified, wealthy, and cosmopolitan, but also more than a touch self-important. They show a distressing habit of becoming overimpressed with themselves -- and so tend to overreach.
"Island nations enjoy security -- think the United Kingdom and Japan -- in part because of the physical separation from rivals, but also because they have no choice but to develop navies that help them keep others away from their shores. Armed with such tools, they find themselves actively meddling in the affairs of countries not just within arm's reach, but half a world away.
"In contrast, mountain countries -- Kyrgyzstan and Bolivia, to pick a pair -- are so capital-poor they find even securing the basics difficult, making them largely subject to the whims of their less-mountainous neighbors.
"It's the balance of these restrictions and empowerments that determine both possibilities and constraints, which from my point of view makes it straightforward to predict what most countries will do:
· The Philippines' archipelagic nature gives it the physical stand-off of islands without the navy, so in the face of a threat from a superior country it will prostrate itself before any naval power that might come to its aid.
· Chile's population center is in a single valley surrounded by mountains. Breaching those mountains is so difficult that the Chileans often find it easier to turn their back on the South American continent and interact economically with nations much further afield.
· The Netherlands benefits from a huge portion of European trade because it controls the mouth of the Rhine, so it will seek to unite the Continent economically to maximize its economic gain while bringing in an external security guarantor to minimize threats to its independence.
· Uzbekistan sits in the middle of a flat, arid pancake and so will try to expand like syrup until it reaches a barrier it cannot pass. The lack of local competition combined with regional water shortages adds a sharp, brutal aspect to its foreign policy.
· New Zealand is a temperate zone country with a huge maritime frontage beyond the edge of the world, making it both wealthy and secure -- how could the Kiwis not be in a good mood every day?

It has the fiat lands of Australia with the climate and land quality of France, the riverine characteristics of Germany with the strategic exposure of New Zealand, and the island features of Japan but with oceanic moats -- and all on a scale that is quite literally continental. L'affaiblissement de la part relative de l'Occident dans l'économie mondiale, tel qu'il s'est amorcé au crépuscule de la Guerre froide, est porteur de conséquences graves qui ne sont pas toutes mesurables dès à présent.
L'une des plus inquiétantes, c'est que la tentation paraît désormais grande pour les puissances occidentales, et surtout pour Washington, de préserver par la supériorité militaire ce qu'il n'est plus possible de préserver par la supériorité économique ni par l'autorité morale.
Là se situe peut-être la conséquence la plus paradoxale et la plus perverse de la fin de la Guerre froide; un évènement qui était censé apporter paix et réconciliation, mais qui fut suivi d'un chapelet de conflits successifs, l'Amérique passant sans transition 'une guerre à la suivante, comme si c'était devenu la "méthode de gouvernement" de l'autorité globale plutôt qu'un ultime recours.
Les attentas meurtriers du 11 septembre 2001 ne suffisent pas à expliquer cette dérive; ils l'ont renforcée, et partiellement légitimée, mais elle était déjà largement amorcée.
En décembre 1989, six semaines après la chute du mur de Berlin, les Etats-Unis sont intervenus militairement au Panama contre le général Noriega, et cette expédition aux allures de descente de police avait valeur de proclamation: il fallait que chacun sache désormais qui commandait sur cette planète et qui devait simplement obéir. Puis ce fut, en 1991, la première guerre d'Irak; en 1992-1993, l'équipée malheureuse en Somalie; en 1994, l'intervention en Haïti pour installer au pouvoir le président Jean-Bertrand Aristide; en 1995, la guerre de Bosnie; en décembre 1998, la campagne de bombardements massifs contre l'Irak baptisée "Opération Désert Fox"; en 1999, la guerre du Kosovo; à partir de 2001, la guerre d'Afghanistan; à partir de 2003, la seconde guerre d'Irak; en 2004, une nouvelle expédition en Haïti, cette fois pour déloger le président Aristide...

Considerare il diavolo un partigiano del Male e l'angelo un combattente del Bene significa accettare la demagogia degli angeli. La faccenda, in realtà, è più complessa.
Gli angeli sono partigiani non del Bene, ma della creazione divina. Il diavolo, invece, è colui che nega al mondo divino un senso razionale.
Come si sa, angeli e demoni si spartiscono il dominio del mondo. Tuttavia, per il bene del mondo non occorre che gli angeli abbiano il sopravvento sui demoni (come credevo quando ero bambino), ma che i poteri degli uni e degli altri siano all'incirca in equilibrio. Se nel mondo c'è un eccesso di senso incontestabile (dominio degli angeli), l'uomo soccombe sotto il suo peso. Se il mondo perde tutto il suo senso (dominio dei demoni), è altrettanto impossibile vivere.
Le cose che vengono private di colpo del loro senso presunto, del posto assegnato loro nel preteso ordine delle cose (un marxista formatosi a Mosca che crede agli oroscopi), provocano in noi il riso. All'origine, il riso appartiene dunque al diavolo. Vi è in esso qualcosa di malvagio (le cose si rivelano di colpo diverse da come volevano farci credere di essere), ma anche una parte di benefico sollievo (le cose sono più leggere di come apparivano, ci lasciano vivere più liberamente, smettono di opprimerci con la loro austera serietà).
Quando l'angelo udì per la prima volta il riso del maligno, restò sbalordito. Accadde durante un banchetto, la sala era gremita e i presenti durino conquistati uno dopo l'altro dal riso del diavolo, che era contagioso. L'angelo capiva benissimo che quel riso era diretto contro Dio e contro la dignità della sua opera. Sapeva di dover reagire subito, in un modo o nell'altro, ma si sentiva debole e inerme. Non riuscendo a inventare niente di nuovo, scimmiottò il suo rivale. Aperta la bocca, emise un suono intermittente, spezzato, alle frequenze più alte del suo registro vocale [...], ma dandogli un significato opposto: Mentre il riso del diavolo alludeva all'assurdità delle cose, l'angelo, col suo grido, voleva rallegrarsi che tutto, quaggiù, fosse ordinato con ragione, ben concepito, bello, buono e pieno di senso.
Così l'angelo e il diavolo si fronteggiavano e, mostrandosi l'un l'altro la bocca spalancata, emettevano all'incirca lo stesso suono, ma ciascuno esprimeva col suo clamore cose radicalmente opposte. E il diavolo guardava l'angelo ridere e rideva ancora di più, ancora meglio e con più gusto, perché l'angelo che rideva era infinitamente comico.
Un riso ridicolo è un fallimento. Ciò non toglie che gli angeli abbiano ottenuto comunque un risultato. Ci hanno ingannati tutti con un'impostura semantica. Per indicare sia la loro imitazione del riso, sia il riso originale (quello del diavolo), c'è una parola sola. Ormai non ci rendiamo nemmeno più conto che la stessa manifestazione esteriore nascoste due atteggiamenti interiori assolutamente opposti. Esistono due tipi di riso e noi non abbiamo parole per distinguerli l'un l'altro.

Miserabili bottegucce si schiacciavano l'un l'altra per mettersi in evidenza: abiti vecchi per i più poveri, biancheria grigia per gli operai, e per tutti viveri a buon mercato. Ceste di pere, dure e verdi, e di prugne, nere e secche, aspettavano di sedurre una clientela infantile, coperte da una rete a maglie strette che le salvava dai ladruncoli. In una botteguccia vide una donna obesa, che con le mani tremanti, secche e gialle, accendeva una lampada a petrolio. Quando Shiva e Shakti se unem no sahasrara, a pessoa experimenta o samadhi, a iluminação ocorre no cérebro e as áreas silenciosas começam a funcionar. Shiva e Shakti permanecem unidos por algum tempo, e durante este período há uma perda total da consciência, pertencente um a outro. Ao mesmo tempo um bindu desenvolve. Bindu significa um ponto, uma gota, e bindu é o substrato de todo o cosmos. Dentro do bindu está a sede da inteligência humana e a sede de toda a criação. Em seguida, bindu se divide em dois, e Shiva e Shakti manifestam-se novamente em dualidade. Quando a ascensão aconteceu, ela foi somente a subida de shakti, mas agora quando a descida acontece, Shiva e Shakti, ambos, descem para os planos grosseiros e há novamente o conhecimento da dualidade. Depois da união total há uma espécie de retorno pelo mesmo caminho da ascensão. A consciência bruta que se tornou refinada, novamente torna-se embrutecida. Este é o conceito da encarnação divina ou avatar.
Quando alguém atinge o mais elevado pináculo de samadhi, purusha e prakriti, ou Shiva e Shakti estão em total união e somente advaita existe, a experiência não dual. Ao mesmo temo, quando não há sujeito/objeto mais distinto, é muito difícil para alguém diferenciar. Se ele está falando com um homem ou com uma mulher, ele não sabe, ele não percebe a diferença. Ele pode até mesmo ser associado com pessoas espirituais ou divinas sem estar ciente disto, porque neste momento, sua consciência está reduzida ao nível da inocência de um bebê. Assim, no estado de samadhi, você é um bebê. Um bebê não pode falar da diferença entre um homem e uma mulher porque ele não tem distinção física ou sexual. Ele não pode distinguir um estudioso de um idiota, ele não pode nem mesmo ver qualquer a diferença entre uma serpente e uma corda. Ele pode segurar uma cobra como segura uma cobra. Isso só acontece quando a união está acontecendo.
Quando Shiva e Shakti descem para os planos grosseiros, que é o mooladhara chakra, eles se separam e vivem como duas entidades. Há dualidade no mooladhara chakra, há dualidade na mente e sentidos e no mundo de nomes e formas, mas não há dualidade no samadhi. Não há nenhuma vidência ou experiência no estado de samadhi. Não há ninguém para dizer como o samadhi porque ele é uma experiência não-dual.
É muito difícil entender por que Shiva e Shakti, ambos, descem para os planos brutos após terem atingindo a mais elevada união. Qual é o objetivo da destruição do mundo e a criação novamente? Qual é o objetivo de transcendência da consciência se você tem de voltar para ele novamente? Por que se preocupar em despertar Kundalini e uni-la com Shiva no sahasrara se você tem de voltar para o mooladhara novamente? Isto é algo muito misterioso e podemos perguntar, "Por despertar Kundalini absolutamente?" Por que construir uma mansão se você sabe que terá de pô-la abaixo quando ela estiver concluída? Na verdade, criamos um monte de coisas que serão destruídas. Então, porque fazê-lo absolutamente? Fazemos muita sadhana para transcender os chakras e ascender da terra para o céu. Então, quando chegamos ao paraíso e nos tornamos um com a grande realidade, de repente decidimos voltar para baixo. E não só, nós trazemos a grande unidade conosco. Seria mais fácil entender se Shakti voltasse sozinha e Shiva permanecesse no céu. Talvez, quando Shakti está prestes a sair, Shiva diga: "Espere, estou indo com você."
Quando Shiva e Shakti descem aos níveis mais grosseiros da consciência, há a dualidade novamente. Isso é porque o homem auto-realizado é capaz de compreender a dor e todos os assuntos da vida mundana. Ele compreende todo o drama da dualidade, multiplicidade e diversidade. Às vezes nós, simples mortais, estamos em um dilema para compreender como este homem, como a mais elevada realização, é capaz de lidar com as dualidades sem esperanças da vida.
