It was hard to live up to the adult version of Stephanie Tanner that I set for myself. I knew I wasn’t the girl I was talking about in the interviews or the speeches. I constantly let myself down and set myself up for failure. This time, failure was right around the corner.

Although I had a good head on my shoulders and knew it was just television, everybody else saw me as Stephanie Tanner.

At that wedding, with the alcohol, I wasn’t a kid in high school who struggled to fit in. I wasn’t Stephanie Tanner. I wasn’t the actor who played Stephanie Tanner. I was Jodie Sweetin and I was an alcoholic.
