Life is a little like getting on a bus with loads of passengers who are already on when you get on. A bus to nowhere but going with absolute certainty to nowhere or so it seems to you. And, you somehow secure a seat and think as long as you sit quietly, you might be allowed to stay till the destination, whatever it may be. You wonder if you could buy a more secure seat if you become the life and soul of the bus, since then nobody will want you to get off. So, you try. There are people you like on the bus, some you cannot bear to be around with. People keep getting on. The bus is overcrowded. You watch some who gracefully get down, some who literally jump off the running bus and others who are abruptly forced off the bus. You feel sorry for those who have been forced off, happy you are still there. You must be special then for that privilege. You sit there thinking if you are quiet and decent, and minding your business or counting your beads, you should be ok, not realising that you could be the next. There is deep down a fear that you could be, but you hope that all what you had done since you got on would guarantee a longer passage to nowhere. Maybe, to a better destination? Where could the bus be going? Who will be getting off next? Will it be you? What is this strange journey with passengers you cannot choose, stops you cannot decide and destination unknown. Suddenly you cannot bear this torture anymore. This meaningless journey with atrocious company to nowhere. And, you sit there in this tumbling, roller coaster ride, hanging onto dear life and swear to yourself that you will enjoy the journey while it lasts. Amidst it all, the question arises... who am I who is sitting here on the bus on a ride to nowhere? And, you sit there... waiting, pretending, dreaming, smiling, laughing... living a little, dying a little, hoping your stop is not the next and wondering what if it is.

Kitty Cat, life is about feeling. It’s about the ride. Do you want to be on a merry-go-round your whole life, just traveling in the same circle over and over again? Or do you want to risk it all and hit the roller coaster, where you’re going to feel all the highs and lows that come with the journey?
Whitney Dineen (Relatively Normal (Relativity, #1))
Initially the driver asked the passengers to stay seated and remain on the bus, but after a half hour of conferring with his supervisors, he informed the passengers that another bus was being sent to their location to take them to Los Angeles. The driver gave them an hour and reiterated that the journey would resume on the new bus at ten thirty, and to please be prompt so they wouldn’t be left behind. He gave them a quick tour-guide style run-down of the available restaurants and sites to see in Primm, including a huge Buffalo shaped pool at Buffalo Bills Hotel, and the roller coaster that Finn was suddenly determined to ride. But when the bus driver mentioned that the bullet riddled car of the infamous outlaws, Bonnie and Clyde, was on display at Whiskey Pete’s Hotel and Casino, he and Bonnie looked at each other in wide-eyed wonder. Finn had started to laugh, almost choking on his disbelief. “Now that, Infinity, is a sign,” Bonnie drawled, and immediately scowled. “William’s sign is still in Bear’s car. I’ve got to get it back. If I only come out of this trip with one souvenir, that’s the one I want. A cardboard sign and a big, blond husband. That’s all I ask.

My goal is to take you on a roller-coaster journey through what I’ve learned studying, building, investing in, and working with social media over the last twenty years. It’s a harrowing journey with unbelievable discoveries and sordid scandals about how social media impacts our democracy; how it can disseminate lies while connecting us to valuable truths; how it fights repression at times while promoting it at others; how it propagates hate speech while defending free speech; and, most of all, how all this works, under the hood, to hook us neurologically, emotionally, socially, and economically. Fours’ moods are like fast-moving weather patterns. In the blink of an eye they can go from up to down, back to average, then plummet, then soar and finally return to baseline. In fact, Fours can feel overwhelmed from experiencing so many feelings at one time that when it comes time to organize them, they don’t know which one to pick out and talk about first. Do you see the problem? If the identity of the Four is hitched to their feelings, then it’s always changing. Their sense of self never stabilizes. Until they wake up it’s like watching someone riding the emotional equivalent of the El Diablo roller coaster at Six Flags.

Drop expectations. In each step of your journey, just allow it to be whatever it is, without having expectations that set you up for the roller coaster of emotions tied to elation and disappointment. Go into new situations and new cultures and meet new people without expecting them to be a certain way. Learn the phrase, “So this is what this is like.

There is no doubt that Kristine Laco is a super funny writer—just check out any of her online humour pieces if you don’t believe me—but what you might not expect is that she can also turn around and make you cry. In this memoir, Laco reveals her more vulnerable side as she shares her mental health struggles and the journey she undertakes to overcome them, all with her trademark humour and an openness and generosity that makes the reader feel as though they are part of the gang. This is a big-hearted, roller-coaster ride of a book, in which Laco shows the reader that even in the darkest times in our lives, there is light.

Life is a roller-coaster, and for the moment I’m comfortable with that. The highs are so very high, they just might make the lows worth the journey.

YOUR MIND WILL PLAY TRICKS ON YOU There are many days you will feel like you are riding a roller coaster. Just remember — this is normal. There is no way around it. You will have mental ups and downs in this journey of building your business. You get started in the business, and you are fired up! You have huge dreams and expectations. Then you get your first no, and your dream gets shattered. You stay with it, and go through some more rejection and finally recruit a great partner … woohoo! You are back on top of the world. Then that recruit quits the next week … you are back in the dumps. But then you recruit someone else, and you see hope again! And maybe your business starts to get traction and grows. But after a while, 90 percent of your downline has disappeared, and your mind plays tricks on you. Now you wonder if it is even worth recruiting anyone else, if most are only going to quit anyway. So now the phone weighs 300 pounds, and you just can’t get motivated to make calls.

The cycle of hope and despair can crush you. It will destroy your confidence temporarily. But you have to look at it positively. Look at it as an integral part of your journey to excellence. Trust me, not many people even get an opportunity to be part of this cycle. It is not a bad position to be in. As for me I was constantly trying to tell myself to be positive, that my turn would come sooner or later.

reflections of my life are like a roller coaster taking me through the years: the good times, the downs, the disappointments, the laughter, the beautiful moments that have made life so precious, the beautiful gifts of kindness along the way, the dreams I failed to realize, with great joy, it is all left in the past, for I could not become the person I am today, had I travelled another journey, it is this blessing, I hold close to my heart, to see so many visions of things that could have been possible for me, they are growing and flourishing in someone else’s life, and yet I am happy for me and I am happy for them, I am content, blessed and happy with my Lot, my vibration to life, my love for knowledge unwavering, my wholeness in the solitude of reflection, my blessings of being blessed to be me

Being on the Twin Flame journey often means a roller coaster where we oscillate between joy, love, togetherness, sadness and pain.
Martina and Hans Thörn Durefelt (The Twin Flame Journey: The path to deep soul Healing & divine Union (Your Success with the Self-Healing book series))
Our Twin Flame is our mirror and will reflect everything within us that is not in harmony with our soul and that is not processed and healed. This means that all our repressed emotions, traumas and shadow sides come out into the light. This means that the contact with our Twin often becomes very intense, especially in the beginning when everything comes up so strongly. Being on the Twin Flame journey often means a roller coaster where we oscillate between joy, love, togetherness, sadness and pain.

Falling in love and staying in love feel so different sometimes. Falling in love feels like a roller coaster. Butterflies. A careening free fall. Twists and turns that make you hold on for dear life. There are so many changes that you don’t fixate on the little things. You just feel the rush. Staying in love is like a road trip. There are snacks and a good playlist. Sometimes there’s some road rage. Some bumps and detours, but the journey is fun, and the destination is worth it.
