Every so often, life offers you a reset button. When it does, you need to press it as hard as you can.
Riley Sager (Lock Every Door)
I couldn't imagine living in a state that didn't reach the ocean. It was a giant reset button. You could go to the edge of the land and see infinity and feel renewed.
Avery Sawyer (Notes to Self)
Jeez, someone needs to push the reset button on this planet.
Libba Bray (Going Bovine)
Leisure, the problem with the modern condition was the dearth of leisure. And finally, it took a force of nature to interrupt our routines. We just wanted to hit the reset button. We just wanted to feel flush with time to do things of no quantifiable value, our hopeful side pursuits like writing or drawing or something, something other than what we did for money.
Ling Ma (Severance)
Hit the reset button. Whatever happened yesterday, forget about it. Get a new perspective. Today is a new day. Fresh start, begins now.
Germany Kent
I don’t ever want to hurt anyone, but I really wish there was something like a reset button on my life.
Jennifer Elisabeth (Born Ready: Unleash Your Inner Dream Girl)
Now we're in the middle of a three-sided vampire war. Which would be an awesome video game, but I'm really not interested in playing for real. I like my reset buttons.
Rachel Caine
I pray not to be such a whiny, self-obsessed baby, and give thanks that I am not quite as bad as I used to be (talk about miracles). Then something comes up, and I overreact and blame and sulk, and it feels like I haven't made any progress at all. But it turns out I'm less of a brat than before, and I hit the reset button much sooner, shake it off, and get my sense if humor back.
Anne Lamott (Help Thanks Wow: The Three Essential Prayers)
People dealing with trauma and depression don’t magically get better overnight. It’s not like in the movies, Mary. There’s no magic reset button at rock-bottom.
Benjamin W. Bass (Alone In The Light)
Men should come with manuals, subtitles, and reset buttons.
Penny Reid (Neanderthal Seeks Human (Knitting in the City, #1))
But I feel like I've spent most of my life wishing for someone else's approval, or relying on their reassurance that I'm living my life the right way. And somewhere along the way, I forgot to care what I thought about myself. I feel trapped beneath all the things that make me think less of myself. If my life were a video game, I would have hit the reset button a long time ago.
Akemi Dawn Bowman (Starfish)
Sleep is our recharge function and our reset button...and we all need a reset button sometimes.
Sam Owen (Resilient Me: How to Worry Less and Achieve More)
He presses his thumbs hard against his eyebrows, as if he hopes they're two buttons and if he keeps them pressed at the same time for ten seconds he'll be able to restore life to its factory settings.
Fredrik Backman (Anxious People)
Every so often, life offers you a reset button. When it does, you need to press it as hard as you can. Jane said that to me once. Back in our reading-on-her-bed days, when I was too young to understand what she meant. Now I do.
Riley Sager (Lock Every Door)
Live your life. The reset button has been pushed.
Brynn Myers (The Echoed Life of Jorja Graham (Jorja Graham #2))
Did you know that a sigh actually acts as a physiological reset button?
Suzanne Wright (Dark Instincts (The Phoenix Pack, #4))
A day off meant we could do things we’d always meant to do. Like go to the Botanical Garden, the Frick Collection, or something. Read some fiction. Like learn to be a better photographer. And even if we didn’t get around to it on that day, our free day, maybe it was enough just to feel the possibility that we could if we wanted to, which is another way of saying that we wanted to feel young, though many of us were that if nothing else.
Ling Ma (Severance)
It's as if someone bought all the diamonds at Tiffany's, and crushed them into dust, then spread that dust across the water so that it sifts down evenly, filtering through the shards of light that cut into the depth. We are swimming through eternity, my daughters' bright mermaid legs, kicking out, towards deeper water. I stay beneath the surface and marvel for as long as lungs can hold. "Swimming is the reset button," Pallas used to say, "swimming starts the day again.
Ann Patchett (Tom Lake)
Awe acts like a kind of reset button: it makes people forget themselves and their petty concerns. Awe opens people to new possibilities, values, and directions in life. Awe is one of the emotions most closely linked to the hive switch, along with collective love and collective joy.
Jonathan Haidt (The Righteous Mind: Why Good People are Divided by Politics and Religion)
Easy” buttons are the things that appear in front of us that we want to reach for because they temporarily take us out of our pain and stress. They do not work in the long run, because what they actually do is help us abandon ourselves. “Easy” buttons take us to fake heaven. Fake heaven always turns out to be hell. You know you’ve hit an “easy” button when, afterward, you feel more lost in the woods than you did before you hit it. It has taken me forty years to decide that when I feel bad, I want to do something that makes me feel better instead of worse. I keep a handwritten poster in my office titled “Easy Buttons and Reset Buttons.” On the left are all the things I do to abandon myself. On the right are my reset buttons, the things I can do to make staying with myself a little more possible.
Glennon Doyle (Untamed)
Your beautiful password is dead. It was simply too complex and too damned exquisite to live in your humdrum world, your humdrum mind. Now you must face the ignominy of clicking the password reset button for the 58th time this year. And as you trudge dolefully toward your inbox, waiting for the help letter to arrive, the cruel laughter of His Computerised Majesty rings in your ears. You have failed, human. You have failed.
Charlie Brooker
Yeah. A li’l damaged, but alive. I’m gon’ try something different with them. Putting them in new soil can be like hitting a reset button.
Angie Thomas (The Hate U Give (The Hate U Give, #1))
You’re not a failure, Uncle,” he said, the words awkward and insufficient in his mouth. “It’s only that we don’t feel safe. A game has a reset button. You have infinite chances for success. Real life is awfully permanent compared to that, and a lot of religious people make it seem even more permanent—one step the wrong way, one sin too many, and it’s the fiery furnace for you. Beware. And then at the same time, you ask us to love the God who has this terrible sword hanging over our necks. It’s very confusing.” “Ah,” said Sheikh Bilal, looking melancholy, “but that’s the point. What is more terrifying than love? How can one not be overwhelmed by the majesty of a creator who gives and destroys life in equal measure, with breathtaking swiftness? You look at all the swelling rose hips in the garden that will wither and die without ever germinating and it seems a miracle that you are alive at all. What would one not do to acknowledge that miracle in some way?
G. Willow Wilson (Alif the Unseen)
Growing up is terrifying. When you’re young, you have this feeling inside of you that you’ll eventually get the chance to do and try everything in life, because life looks so infinitely long from the perspective of a kid. Then suddenly, you realize that every choice you make unchooses all the other ones. This isn’t a video game. There’s no reset button and no infinite lives. Every single decision I make is permanent, and the more I make, the slimmer my path becomes in this shrinking, dark forest we call adulthood.
Daryl Banner (Bromosexual)
It is unfair that life doesn’t come with a rewind button; an undo button that can reset time after you make a terrible mistake.
Melissa Ford (Measure Of Love (A Life From Scratch Novel Book 2))
A stack overflow error caused cabin fever and the reset button was Pattaya.

It felt like something had pushed the reset button and my life had only begun. I should have asked for a birth certificate for myself.

I was like everyone else. We all hoped the storm would knock things over, fuck things up enough but not too much. We hoped the damage was bad enough to cancel work the next morning but not so bad that we couldn’t go to brunch instead. Brunch? he echoed skeptically. Okay, maybe not brunch, I conceded. If not brunch, then something else. A day off meant we could do things we’d always meant to do. Like go to the Botanical Garden, the Frick Collection, or something. Read some fiction. The practice of mindfulness is one of the most powerful reset buttons we have. When we learn how to slow down internally, we begin to see our habitual reactive patterns. We start to understand how fear, even on subtle levels, may dictate our choices around our work.

The one thought Conan had on the spot about the half hour at 11:35 was that it would likely exacerbate the problem he already had with Leno. 'So at least now, Jay does his show, but there's the break of the news, and that's kind of the reset button,' Conan said to Gaspin and Graboff. 'At 11:35 Jay's going to come out and do twenty jokes. And then what's he going to do?' When they replied that it seemed likely he would have only one guest, Conan said, 'OK. And then I come out and do what?' The NBC guys didn't really have an answer for that other than what Conan had already been doing: his own monologue. That this now seemed like a late-night pileup - three shows with monologues lined up end to end - was the implication no one had really addressed. Finally Conan did have something he really wanted to say, something that had almost burned a hole in his chest. 'What does Jay have on you?' Conan asked, his voice still low, his tone still even. 'What does this guy have on you people? What the hell is it about Jay?

But “knowing the truth” does not come with redemption as a guarantee, nor does a feeling of redemption guarantee an end to a cycle of wrongdoing. Some would even say it is key to maintaining it, insofar as it can work as a reset button—a purge that cleans the slate, without any guarantee of change at the root. Placing all one’s eggs in “the logic of exposure,” as Eve Kosofsky Sedgwick has put it (in Touching Feeling), may also simply further the logic of paranoia. “Paranoia places its faith in exposure,” Sedgwick observes—which is to say that the exposure of a disturbing fact or situation does not necessarily alter it, but in fact may further the circular conviction that one can never be paranoid enough.
Maggie Nelson (The Art of Cruelty: A Reckoning)
The week of slow is the running equivalent of a juice fast. Some people use short-term juice fasts to hit the reset button on their diet. The fast is not an end in itself. The goal is to make permanent changes to their diet, replacing bad habits with good ones. But instead of just making these changes from one day to the next, they first take a few days to break their attachments to the old habits by consuming nothing but healthy fruit and vegetable juices. Then, once they are no longer craving potato chips or whatever else, they return to a normal but improved diet.

Positive interactions can change the flow of negativity. Shifting conversations from the downward spiral of negativity takes practice, but with persistence, positive dialogue can successfully act as a reset button to the damaging impact of negative conversations.

Moving to a new city was like pressing the reset button on life. Not the fun and satisfying-to-press big red reset buttons, but the tiny, tedious ones. The kind that require a fine, oft-unavailable object in order to hit reset.

Enamul Haque
Death hit people differently. She was getting by. He had all but given up. There was no middle ground as woman. She was used to it, but it still pissed her off. Frigid, or a slag. Girly, or one of the boys. Hrad, or emotionally unstable. When USA sneezed , the UK caught the cold. Her face was often difficult to read, but at that moment it told him whatever McEvoy found Margie Knight o not, she'd tear every dodgy sauna, massage parlour and tin-pot knocking shop in the city apart trying. It might have been a few minutes, it might have been an hour, when he heard Holland's voice... The mood she is in right now, Holland, if you're so much as suggest that it might be her time of the month, I'm guessing she'll kill you on the spot. I think the poison inside me has eaten away every ounce of courage there might ever have been. I need to find just a little more. "Look, I'm getting tired of saying sorry" "Well I'm not tired of hearing you say it, OK?" Maybe they bred them somewhere, taught then how to put their hair in a bun and look down their pointed noses, before sending them out into the world with a pair of bug glasses, a fondness for tweed and something uncomfortable up their backside. "I'm going to kill Holland. No, I'm going to make him listen to some proper country music and then I'm going to kill him." "Actually, fuck that, the music would be wasted on him anyway. I'll just kill him." "fuckfuckbullocksfuck..." "What? I make you sick? I make you want to hurt me?" "You knock, you wait, you get asked to come in, you come in. It's pretty bloody straightforward." ...sat at home like Tom Throne, trying to keep the rest of the world well away. Police officer and prison staff are old enemies. The finders and the keepers resenting each other. 'Everybody says it switches around when you get old and they have to look after you. The parent becomes the child...It's non sense though., it really is. Even when they're cooking for you and getting your shopping in, you know? Even when they're doing up the buttons on your pyjamas and pretending to listen to your stupid stories, even when they're wiping your arse, you're still the father--It never stops, never. You're still the father and he's still the son. Still the son...' A thin layer across the top of the cistern in the ladies, invisible unless used in some of the more drugs-conscious clubs. ...Depending on how it looks, thy either do nothing, or break it again, re-set it.' 'Do they need volunteers?' "Don't talk to me. Not like that, do you understand? Not 'are you all right?' Not 'sorry'..." "I don't..." "Talk to me like a murdered." Holland couldn't believe what he was hearing. Palmer? 'Sorry?' Throne shouted. 'Fucking sorry...?' 'Shut your fucking stupid cunt's mouth. I will kill you, is that clear? I'm not afraid, certainly not of you. I don't care what happens. He can shoot the pair of us, I don't give a fuck. But if I hear so much as a breath coming out of you before this is finished, a single poisonous whisper, I'll rip your face off with my bare hands. I'll take it clean off, Nicklin, I'll make you another nice, new identity...

Forgiving them is like hitting the reset button on your soul's remote control. It's tough to navigate through the channels of hurt and anger, but once you find that forgiveness channel, it's like tuning into the most soothing melody. Sure, it's a bit of a rocky road, but hey, life's about finding the right frequency, right? So, grab that remote, flick away the grudges, and let forgiveness be your favorite show. Who knows, it might just become a binge-worthy series you never want to turn off!

I mean, who needs facials and massages? Last night was like someone pressed the reset button, restored me to my factory settings, and I feel fabulous this morning.
Elodie Hart (Unfurl (Alchemy, #1))
Nearly dying had turned out to be the best thing that ever happened to me. Waking up as a blank slate without a past and with only a future to consider had given me a newfound hope for tomorrow. There were no worries, no obligations, no insecurities—just endless possibilities. Sure, it had been terrifying to have no clue who I was or where I came from, but I was also the luckiest girl alive. Fate had landed me in the care of a man who wanted to be with me for who I truly was—not because of my family, not for what I could give him, not out of obligation—because I was just me. The wreck had been a once-in-a-lifetime reset button, a chance to explore what life had to offer.

Lazesoft Recover home addition: In this inter connected world of information and communication technology.  It is a must that we need to use different email address and passwords associated to those accounts separately. We give a lot of time and attention to manage them all. Because they are the easiest way to communication these days. Nowadays its very common that most of us do have more than one email address in order to use them indifferent purposes. You cannot use the same password so that all the accounts might not get hacked at the same time. That’s an important and not easy task to handle for many of us. In case of it comes to computers with Windows 8 operating system, we have to use different user accounts like Administrator account, guest account, and so on. So, here is also a race for memorizing the passwords associated to all those accounts. Occasionally, we face the problem accessing into our own personal user account and we cannot afford reinstalling the operating system in fear of losing all of our valuable data stored on behalf of that account. If you still can remember the Administrator account’s password then you have the option to reset the other accounts password through the Administrator account. But if the case is not the one we are expecting, I mean you have forgotten the administrative account’s password, and then the Lazesoft Recover home addition software is there to help you get rid of this unwanted problem. Here I am telling you step by step how to do that: Step 1: Download and burn the CD into your USB flash drive or thumb drive from   another computer. Step 2: Insert the flash drive into the target computer and restart the computer. Step 3: up on restart you will see a dialogue box in DOS window. From there, select Mini windows XP and press Enter key. Step 4: After the live CD boots into windows XP, then open the DB CD menu desktop item. Then go into programs menu bar, then select password and keys and then click on windows log on. After that click on NTPW edit. Step 5: you will see a new dialogue box from there you need to locate the path of SAM file. The SAM file will show all the user account available into the computer and from there you need to the account of which you want to reset the password. Step 6: Once you clicked on the account name a dialogue window will open up saying set your password. You can do two things there, a) you can leave the fields blank, therefore the windows will load directly or b) you can set a new password for the account. And then click on the save changes button. Step 7: exit the program and reboot the system removing the USB flash drive. And the windows will boot directly to the windows desktop. Windows password rescuer advance: The password rescuer advance is also a similar type of software for recovering you windows password. It also requires using a USB flash drive. At first you need to purchase and download the software from the internet page

enter your mind, in which case a two-stage inference chain is assembled, governed by two probabilistic parameters, P(False alarm) and P(Prank call). Later, when the possibility of an earthquake enters consideration, the parameter P(False alarm) undergoes a partial explication; a fragment of knowledge is brought over from the remote frame of earthquake experiences and is appended to the link Burglary → Alarm as an alternative cause or explanation. The catchall hypothesis All other causes shrinks (to exclude earthquakes), and its parameters are readjusted. The radio announcement strengthens your suspicion in the earthquake hypothesis and permits you to properly readjust your decisions without elaborating the mechanics of the pressure transducer used in the alarm system. The remote possibility of having forgotten to push the reset button will

Step 4: Practice Your Reaction Time! All that’s left is to connect the battery to the supply columns. The button at the bottom of the board is the Reset button. Use this to start the game and to restart the game after each player attempts to stop the light. The button next to the LEDs should stop the light when the game is running. See how many turns it takes you to get to 50 points!

Shopping List A breadboard (Jameco #2212218, Bitsbox #CN204) with at least 60 rows. Breadboard jumper wires (Jameco #2237044, Bitsbox #CN236)—you’ll need around 35 for this project. Standard hookup wire works, too. A standard 9 V battery to power the circuit. A 9 V battery clip (Jameco #11280, Bitsbox #BAT033) to connect the battery. A 555 timer IC (Jameco #904085, Bitsbox #QU001) to create the timing. A 10 kΩ resistor (Jameco #691104, Bitsbox #CR2510K) to set the game speed. A 100 kΩ resistor (Jameco #691340, Bitsbox #CR25100K) to set the game speed. A 1 µF capacitor (Jameco #768183, Bitsbox #CC006) to set the game speed. A 4017 decade counter IC (Jameco #12749, Bitsbox #QU020) to control the LEDs. Two standard blue LEDs (Jameco #2193889, Bitsbox #OP033) Two standard red LEDs (Jameco #333973, Bitsbox #OP002) A standard green LED (Jameco #34761, Bitsbox #OP003) Ten 100 Ω resistors (Jameco #690620, Bitsbox #CR25100R) for limiting the current to the LEDs. A 4011 NAND-gate IC (Jameco #12634, Bitsbox #QU018) to create the SR latch for starting and stopping the game. Two 1 kΩ resistors (Jameco #690865, Bitsbox #CR251K) to act as pull-up resistors for the start/stop circuit. Two push buttons (Jameco #119011, Bitsbox #SW087), one for resetting the game and one for playing.
Oyvind Nydal Dahl (Electronics for Kids: Play with Simple Circuits and Experiment with Electricity!)
A Latch to Start and Stop the Light Do you remember the SR latch from “Saving One Bit at a Time” on page 240? The start/stop circuit for this game is a similar SR latch but built with two NAND gates. (The SR latch in Chapter 11 used NOR gates.) The SR latch is a circuit that can remember a single bit. Its output is either 0 or 1, and it keeps that number until it gets set or reset with a new input. You can create a circuit that tells the latch what to output with two buttons: one for setting the output to 1 and one for setting the output to 0. Using NAND gates instead of NOR gates means the buttons must make the inputs low to output a 1. In this circuit, it doesn’t matter whether you click the buttons quickly or slowly. The 1-button always sets the output to 1, and the 0-button always sets the output to 0. That’s perfect for the reaction game! Connecting the output to the start/stop pin, or pin 13, on the decade counter gives you a button for starting and stopping the LEDs.
Oyvind Nydal Dahl (Electronics for Kids: Play with Simple Circuits and Experiment with Electricity!)
MEET THE REACTION GAME CIRCUITS The reaction game will consist of three circuits: A 555 timer circuit that determines the speed of the game A counter that controls which LED light to turn on An SR latch that will add a reset button and an action button This section explains each circuit, but to help you understand their diagrams, let’s meet two new circuit symbols. Meet the VCC and GND Symbols Circuit diagrams don’t always use a battery symbol like the one used throughout this book. Sometimes they use the VCC (or VDD) and GND symbols instead. If nothing in the circuit diagram or its description says otherwise, you can assume that VCC represents the positive side of the battery and that GND represents the negative side, or ground. The symbols sometimes look a little different, but the VCC symbol usually shows a wire connecting down from its symbol to the circuit, while the GND symbol shows a wire connecting up from the symbol to the circuit. In bigger circuit diagrams, like the one you’re going to build from in this chapter, these symbols make the diagram much easier to draw and understand.

Having a Home button in sight at all times offers reassurance that no matter how lost I may get, I can always start over, like pressing a Reset button or using a “Get out of Jail Free” card.
Steve Krug (Don't Make Me Think, Revisited: A Common Sense Approach to Web Usability (Voices That Matter))
You can try hitting that reset button, but all it’s going to do is change the names of the players, not their actions.
Andrew Mayne (Black Fall (Jessica Blackwood, #3))
Maybe it was time to hit the reset button on the world. Make people see that there were consequences to their actions. Make them remember what they had and value it enough to protect it.
Kyle Mills (Lethal Agent (Mitch Rapp, #18))
Artists recontextualize reality and offer visions that were previously invisible. Creativity engages the brain’s daydreaming mode directly and stimulates the free flow and association of ideas, forging links between concepts and neural nodes that might not otherwise be made. In this way, engagement in art as either a creator or consumer helps us by hitting the reset button in our brains. Time stops. We contemplate. We reimagine our relationship to the world. Being creative means allowing the nonlinear to intrude on the linear, and to exercise some control over the output. The major achievements in science and art over the last several thousand years required induction, rather than deduction—required extrapolating from the known to the unknown and, to a large extent, blindly guessing what should come next and being right some of the time.
Daniel J. Levitin (The Organized Mind: Thinking Straight in the Age of Information Overload)
Detoxing your mind and body does wonders. It is a natural reset button.
Robin S. Baker
In other words, relaunches are never a one-and-done event. Because work conditions are often dynamic, hitting the reset button once won’t be enough. Periodic relaunches are important in good times but crucial in times of uncertainty
Tsedal Neeley (Remote Work Revolution: Succeeding from Anywhere)
So reinvent yourself,” Kaiser says, and it’s only when he touches her cheek that she realizes she’s crying. “I thought I did that already. How many times can one person press the reset button?” “As many times as it takes. But you have to move past it. You have to forgive yourself. Even if nobody else does.
Jennifer Hillier (Jar of Hearts)
Step away from the desk; let nature be your reset button. Always remember a refreshed mind breeds unparalleled productivity.
Enamul Haque
But now I wonder if it’s more of a reset button. Perhaps he’s saying to himself, Have compassion, have compassion, have compassion, the way I used to do with John.
Lori Gottlieb (Maybe You Should Talk to Someone: A Therapist, Her Therapist, and Our Lives Revealed)
Netgear extender reset is the process of restoring the device to its factory default settings. This is done by using the reset button on the wifi extender, which is typically located on the bottom or back of the device. When the reset button is pressed and held for a certain period of time, the device will erase all settings and information, including the password, and reboot to its default state. You can also reset your Netgear wifi extender by using a web browser.

WONDER IS THE SINGULAR experience that, for a fleeting moment, disrupts our awareness and dissolves our biases so we may see again what is real and true, beautiful and possible. Wonder is essential for us to advance our best ideas for a better world. It also is our biological and neurological pause-and-reset button that makes us feel, like that hooting chimp, wildly alive again and ready to approach any challenge. Survival of the wondrous.
Jeffrey Davis (Tracking Wonder: Reclaiming a Life of Meaning and Possibility in a World Obsessed with Productivity)
think it seems to be a bit of a mid-life theme. Lots of us find we have to go back to the beginning of our life in order to start again. Back to where we grew up, or where we were happiest. To a time before things went wrong. I see it like pressing the reset button.
Raynor Winn (The Wild Silence)
We can also press reset on our expectation buttons. If you expect to buy takeaway for your midday meal everyday, you may be calibrated to feel that lunch is only worth looking forward to if it comes from a shop. Expect instead to always bring a packed lunch, and you’ll gradually forget about the greasy displays in the shop windows, and will look forward to tucking into your roast-dinner leftovers lunchbox enormously.
Annie Raser-Rowland (The Art of Frugal Hedonism: A Guide to Spending Less While Enjoying Everything More)
And finally, it took a force of nature to interrupt our routines. We just wanted to hit the reset button. We just wanted to feel flush with time to do things of no quantifiable value,
Ling Ma (Severance)
Recognizing not only intellectually but psychologically and physically, through laughter, that we are not the only ones feeling such a range of emotions makes us feel less alone, provides a renewed sense of perspective, allows us to hit an emotional “reset” button and can relieve stress.
Gina Barreca
Initially, the most important thing for me was dropping out of my head and into my body – into a sense of feeling myself. My head is where I tend to spend most of my day, either beating myself up or worrying about things that might be coming up. I think I went for years hardly being in the present at all. Formal practices like the body scan, actually focusing on my body, are enough to press a reset button. Being in the body gives me a sense of ‘terra firma’, a ‘being here right now’. That sense of feeling the air on my skin, my feet on the floor, allows me to settle into myself, to refocus and respond in a different way, rather than just react habitually. That’s a great skill because it gives you the opportunity to do something different.
Ed Halliwell (Mindfulness Made Easy: Learn How to Be Present and Kind - to Yourself and Others (Made Easy series))
After a bad or disrupting occurrence in your life, Fredrickson’s research shows, what you choose to focus on exerts significant leverage on your attitude going forward. These simple choices can provide a “reset button” to your emotions.
Cal Newport (Deep Work: Rules for Focused Success in a Distracted World)
So once the junkie is strung out and fucked, the junkie looks and cries for anything in their sentimental past to replace family, so everyone the junkie talks about is a “best friend” or “brother” or some kind of “uncle.” Because once you take that plunge and stick that spike into your tangled blue, helpless veins, you hit the reset button on your life, and relate everything you love and hate—then or now—to an illusion of family, due to the sudden loss of yours.
Jon Vreeland (The Taste of Cigarettes: A Memoir of a Heroin Addict)
Sleeping is like hitting a reset button of thoughts, thus, generating fresh ideas and getting a sense of relaxation at the end.
Mwanandeke Kindembo (Resistance To Intolerance)
The world can be a better place. The problems that plague are manmade. However, the people able to elevate human living, those few with the resources, influence, technology, time, and power, are preoccupied with something else, or they benefit from the status quo. Nothing else can explain their lack of action. Or perhaps, they lack the vision. If the latter is correct, the solution is simple, read my work. But if the former is so, which I think is true, then there is little hope for the common people. Unless of course, God intervenes and pushes the reset button to this video game called life. Or the people affected by the backwardness mobilize and retake their natural rights.
Mike Bhangu
A day off meant we could do things we’d always meant to do. Like go to the Botanical Garden, the Frick Collection, or something. Read some fiction. Like learn to be a better photographer. And even if we didn’t get around to it on that day, our free day, maybe it was enough just to feel the possibility that we could if we wanted to, which is another way of saying that we wanted to feel young, though many of us were that if nothing else.
Ling Ma (Severance)
But they always came back to each other. And usually, that coming back involved an awkward joke, a moment of sarcasm. Self-deprecating humor. The mother of all reset buttons.
Adrienne Giordano (Boosted (Lucie Rizzo Mystery #4))
Sometimes hitting the pause button on a life beginning to spiral out of control by moving to a new house can actually reset the situation and make things better.
Gregg Olsen (If You Tell: A True Story of Murder, Family Secrets, and the Unbreakable Bond of Sisterhood)

To improve your competence, do the following: • Get your head in the game. If you’ve been mentally or emotionally detached from your work, it’s time to reengage. First, rededicate yourself to your job. Determine to give it an appropriate amount of your undivided attention. Second, figure out why you have been detached. Do you need new challenges? Are you in conflict with your boss or coworkers? Are you in a dead-end job? Identify the source of the problem, and create a plan to resolve it. • Redefine the standard. If you’re not performing at a consistently high level, reexamine your standards. Are you shooting too low? Do you cut corners? If so, hit your mental reset button, and outline more demanding expectations for yourself. • Find three ways to improve. Nobody keeps improving without being intentional about it. Do a little research to find three things you can do to improve your professional skills. Then dedicate the time and money to follow through on them.
John C. Maxwell (The 21 Indispensable Qualities of a Leader: Becoming the Person Others Will Want to Follow)
Revolutions act as reset buttons, failing to break free from the repetitive patterns of the lifecycle of government Plato described. Breaking this cycle requires a paradigm shift -a move from centralized power and reactive revolutions toward decentralized, voluntary, and sustainable facilitating systems based on natural rights.
