Why do so many of us profess our belief in God but trust money for our security?
Mike Slaughter (Momentum for Life, Revised Edition: Biblical Practices for Sustaining Physical Health, Personal Integrity, and Strategic Focus)
When the finish line seems too far away, remember how you felt when you were back at the starting line. Regain that motivation to recharge your momentum.
Toni Sorenson
When we live a positive life, one that benefits our health, our self, our environment, and the people around us, we are setting in motion a great momentum of good karma.
Joseph P. Kauffman (Conscious Collective: An Aim for Awareness)
if you have a habit of disrespecting consistent sleep time habits, you create momentum in the wrong direction and will struggle to achieve basic health and fitness goals, especially losing excess body fat.
Mark Sisson (The Primal Blueprint: Reprogram your genes for effortless weight loss, vibrant health, and boundless energy (Primal Blueprint Series))
The Tree of Life was an ancient symbol of interconnection, fertility, and eternal life—precisely because of this legendary tree’s fruit. Fruit is part of our essence, a basic element of who we are. We cannot survive without fruit on this planet. It outweighs the nutrition of any other food. Yet the current “health” movement toward low-carb diets has put fruit on the endangered species list, with the goal of making it extinct. Is this denial? Ignorance? Foolishness? We’re not talking about uneducated people who are driving the trend. We’re talking about smart, highly intelligent professionals with advanced degrees in medicine and nutrition. If they’re advising patients to shun fruit, it must be because of their training, the misinformation out there, or their own selective interests. Have you heard of book burning? If the anti-sugar war keeps up its momentum, fruit trees will be next to go up in flames.
Anthony William (Medical Medium: Secrets Behind Chronic and Mystery Illness and How to Finally Heal)
Daily alone time My ability to embrace stillness and meditation was the momentum swing in my health transformation. I breathed in and out with the musical sounds of the Pacific Ocean. I breathed in life, energy, and the universe and as I breathed out, I felt every red and white blood cell washing the cancer cells out to sea with the waves.
Gregory Q. Cheek (Three Points of Contact: A Motivational Speaker's Inspirational Methods of Success from Homeless Teen Through Cancer.)
Center, where doctors could better monitor his condition. The administration did a poor job of informing the public about the president’s health. Then Trump took a limo ride around the Walter Reed campus while he was sick just to wave to supporters. When he returned to the White House on October 5, he dramatically unmasked himself while standing on the balcony. These cavalier acts erased whatever momentum had been building for the incumbent in the polls.
Matthew Continetti (The Right: The Hundred-Year War for American Conservatism)
Let me show you how much time we waste in worrying about the wrong problems. Here is a reliable estimate of things people worry about: Things that never happen, 40%; things that are over and past and that can never be changed by all the worry in the world, 30%; needless worries about our health, 12%; petty miscellaneous worries, 10%; real, legitimate worries, 8%. In short, 92% of the average person’s worries take up valuable time, cause painful stress even mental anguish, and are absolutely unnecessary,” - Earl Nightingale, motivational speaker.
Thibaut Meurisse (Master Your Motivation: A Practical Guide to Unstick Yourself, Build Momentum and Sustain Long-Term Motivation (Mastery Series Book 2))
collectively referred to as “strategic management.” More specifically, strategic management is the process of strategic thinking, strategic planning, and managing the strategic momentum of an organization to provide direction and achieve the organization’s mission and vision.
Peter M. Ginter (The Strategic Management of Health Care Organizations)
So what’s the endgame? The upward cycle of curve upon curve can’t continue forever. Bodies age, congregations decline, and nations rise and fall. Certainly, we cannot launch curve after curve in perpetuity. But we can use this model to transfer momentum to the next generation. This is not about the ongoing existence of one particular church but the future health of Jesus’ church and the forward momentum of the gospel from one era to the next.
Sutton Turner
I couldn’t understand where my momentum went. I didn’t see why I couldn’t focus my inspiration or keep my motivation flowing in a sustainable way.
Karen Curry Parker (Abundance by Design: Discover Your Unique Code for Health, Wealth and Happiness with Human Design (Life by Human Design))
I am a very lucky lady that my life partner, Daniel, is a true-blue Southern gentleman. Watching him in action not only earns my love and respect, but it also strengthens his countenance and bolsters his reputation as a man. As a health care provider, he treats numerous patients who are elderly or in pain. Daniel has made it a customary ritual while people are in his care to help them with their coats, provide a stabilizing arm, carry the ladies’ purses, and even walk patients out to their cars. While this kindness provides extraordinary customer service, it also demonstrates that small acts of chivalry can make a significant impact on one’s reputation, first impression, and overall human-beingness.
Susan C. Young (The Art of Action: 8 Ways to Initiate & Activate Forward Momentum for Positive Impact (The Art of First Impressions for Positive Impact, #4))
Minimize brick, maximize mission.
Mike Slaughter (Momentum for Life, Revised Edition: Biblical Practices for Sustaining Physical Health, Personal Integrity, and Strategic Focus)
The heart benefit of the low-fat diet was not proven false until 2006 with the publication of the Women’s Health Initiative Dietary Modification Trial and the Low-Fat Dietary Pattern and Risk of Cardiovascular Disease study,6 some thirty years after the low-fat approach became enshrined in nutritional lore. By that time, like a supertanker, the low-fat movement had gained so much momentum that it was impossible to turn it aside.
Jason Fung (The Obesity Code: Unlocking the Secrets of Weight Loss (Why Intermittent Fasting Is the Key to Controlling Your Weight))
Key Elements of Five Year Plan ’77 What follows did not happen overnight. Among the guidelines set in February 1977 (remember, Fair Trade on alcohol was not finally ended until 1978): Emphasize edibles vs. non-edibles. I figured that the supermarkets would raise their prices on foods to make up for the newly reduced margins on milk and alcohol. This would give us all the more room to underprice them. During the next five years we got rid of film, hosiery, light bulbs and hardware, greeting cards, batteries, magazines, all health and beauty aids except those with a “health food” twist. We began to cut back sharply on soaps and cleaners and paper goods. The only non-edibles we emphasized were “tabletop” items like wineglasses, cork pullers, and candles. It was quite clear that we should put more emphasis on food and less on alcohol and milk. Within edibles, drop all ordinary branded products like Best Foods, Folgers, or Weber’s bread. I felt that a dichotomy was developing between “groceries” and “food.” By “groceries,” I mean the highly advertised, highly packaged, “value added” products being emphasized by supermarkets, the kinds that brought slotting allowances and co-op advertising allowances. By embracing these “plastic” products, I felt the supermarkets were abandoning “food” and the product knowledge required to buy and sell it. But this position wasn’t entirely altruistic. The plan of February 20, 1977, declared, “Most independent supermarkets have been driven out of business, because they stupidly tried to compete with the big chains in plastic goods, in which the big chains excel.” Focus on discontinuity of supplies. Be willing to discontinue any product if we are unable to offer the right deal to the customer. Instead of national brands, focus on either Trader Joe’s label products or “no label” products like nuts and dried fruits. This was intended to enable the Trader Joe’s label to pick up momentum in the stores. And it worked.
Joe Coulombe (Becoming Trader Joe: How I Did Business My Way and Still Beat the Big Guys)
strategic planning without managing strategic momentum. Alan Weiss, in his irreverent book Our Emperors Have No Clothes, explains that in these situations the problem is that “[s]trategy is usually viewed as an annual exercise at best, an event that creates a ‘product,’ and not a process to be used to actually run the business.”30
Peter M. Ginter (The Strategic Management of Health Care Organizations)
The distinction among the terms strategic thinking, strategic planning, and strategic momentum is important and all three activities must occur in true strategically managed organizations. Therefore, each element of the model is explored in more depth.

Seen in this way, it represents a challenge of the grassroots to the elite, of popular to the official, of the weak to the strong... More than twenty years have passed since Tiananmen protests of 1989, and from today's perspective their greatest impact has been the lack of progress in reforming the political system. It's fair to say political reform was taking place in the 1980s, even if its pace was slower than that of economic reform. After Tiananmen, however, political reform ground to a halt, while economy began breakneck development. Because of this pradox we find ourselves in a reality full of contradictions: conservative here, radical there; the concentration of political power on this side, the unfettering of economic interests on that; dogmatism on the one hand, anarchism on hte other; toeing the line here, tossing away the rule book there. Over the past twenty years our development has been uneven rather than comprehensive, and this lopsided development is compromising the health of our society. It seems to me that the emergence - and unstoppable momentum - of the copycat phenomenon is an inevitable consequence of this lopsided development. The ubiquity and sharpness of social contradictions have provoked confusion in people's value systems and worldview, thus giving birth to the copycat effect, when all kinds of social emotions accumulate over time and find only limited channels of release, transmuted constantly into seemingly farcical acts of rebellion that have certain anti-authoritarian, anti-mainstream, and anti-monopoly elements. The force and scale of copycatting demonstrate that the whole nation has taken to it as a form of performance art.
