Then he explains that highlights require touch-ups every four to six weeks, that they can cause dryness, and that they are pricey. “I insist that the child pays for her hair coloring,” says Michael. “She needs to know this is something you don’t get free for the rest of your life and that it’s a responsibility. Then if she still wants it, I make her wait until she’s fifteen.
