Each of us hides our own private Delaware lost in the gray jungle-tangle of our brains. No one else can know its depths and byways. No one else can know the height of its towers, the secrets of its tides and pools. There will always be lost lagoons to find there, and ruins almost hidden by the sand. There will always be monsters of great beauty and good men with ugly frowns. The forests are dark but lights bob among the branches. You are at home there, more at home than anyplace else, and yet you will never go there in your life. Their legends are yours. The pirates sale around the cape, a crew of skeletons in the rigging. Milkmaids run down mountain passes, dragging kites behind them. Wizards crack their backs after long days of chalk and incantation while above the crowded bazaars, over the golden temples, against the setting sun, around the ruddy minarets, the pterodactyls call out a long farewell.

These mechs—rays—stim—have been used always as the forbidden fruit of life, the last treasure in the temple of secrecy which has consumed the ancient science. The orgies which the uses of such stimulants inspire have been going on secretly since the earliest times—beneath the temples and in the secret pleasure palaces of the world. (Shaver here seems to be talking of our modern world, not of ancient Mu. —Ed.) These orgies still go on, and are more deadly than before—more filled with de accumulated in the apparatus, the stim itself concealing the deadly rays whose effect is explained as the sad results of overindulgence; which is untrue—the stim is a beneficial of great virtue and leaves one stronger and wiser after use. “The legend of the sirens is an example of ancient mechs which no one could resist—in the hands of evil degenerates it became a deadly attraction—drawing shiploads of men to death and the ships to looting. “The course of history, the battles, the decisions of tyrants and kings—was almost invariably decided by interfering control from the caverns and their hidden apparatus. This interference, this use of the apparatus in a prankish, evil, destructive way, is the source of god worship, the thrill of divinity, the sensing of the invisible, the prostration of the will before the stronger will of the ray gen (hidden and unknown as it was). “The remarkable part of it all is that it still goes on today. Emotional and mental stim—unsuspected by such as you and the average citizen—used in mad prankishness, all come from the ancient apparatus. If you will remember your stage fright in the school play, the many other times when your emotions seem to have gone awry without sufficient reason—were these natural? “The dero of the caves are the greatest menace to our happiness and progress; the cause of many mad things that happen to us, even so far as murder. Many people know something of it, but they say they do not. They are lying. They fear to be called mad, or to be held up to ridicule. Examine your own memory carefully. You will find many evidences of outside stim, some good, some evil—but mostly evil.

Sassy and Esis were still on the platform. They ran back and forth, throwing little pebbles and coral that had washed up on the wood at Thalassa to get her attention. Obviously, she gave them none. Esis got tired of being ignored. He jumped off the platform and onto Thalassa’s tail, running up her back and avoiding the little spines. He wove this way and that, avoiding Baine as he reached her head and beat his tiny little fists into Thalassa’s temple. “Esis!” Sophia shouted. “Get back here!” He didn’t listen to her and kept ramming her on the forehead. Thalassa’s eyes crossed to look at him, as if he was an annoyance. The brave little fucker. I was honestly impressed.

Eshmun means “Eight”. In Neo-Platonist lore, Eshmun was the 8th Son born of Sadyk (an ancient Phoenician god of justice), this healing god is recognized as the Greek Asclepius. Semyaza taught spells and the cutting of roots. The name of Semyaza is another aspect of Azazel, the Deific Mask reveals different energies and power than Azazel within our context of magickial lore. As the leader of the Watchers, the knowledge of that which grows from the green earth and the uses of herbs in sorcery is what Semyaza inspires. The Watcher Amezarak is thought to be an inner-Ethiopic corruption of Semyaza. In Jewish legend, Semyaza is an alternate name to Samael and Mastema as Abezi Thibod ("father devoid of counsel"). Semyaza is described as a Seraph who was tempted by the maiden Ishtahar to reveal to her the Name of Power (of El) which allowed her to ascend to the skies. In the Hebrew myths, Semyaza is said to hang upside down between heaven and earth as the constellation Orion (the Hunter). Semyaza had among others two Nephilim sons, Hiwa and Hiya. Semyaza is the patron Watcher of magicians and sorcerers, an inspiring spirit to the Witch or Warlock who seeks the Elphame path of hidden light of which to cast shadow. Visualize Semyaza, Shemyaza or Amezarak in your invocations and meditations. For further healing meditations and spells, Eshmun may also be invoked with incense and libation offerings. His inspiration of healing comes from both plants, herbs and pharmacological inventions of modern times. Semyaza is presented here in two forms. The first is the Watcher united and partially composed of the earthly green and fertile vines and the witch-cult knowledge of our sorceries. The second is Semyaza, crowned in radiance of divine power, instructing cultists of the Hellenistic Pan and Dionysos with the rites of health, lust and renewal much like the temple-cults associated with Mt Hermon.
