Your prayer will not be an asking or a seeking for any thing; it will be an asking and a seeking and a knocking for more light, greater spiritual wisdom, greater discernment.
Joel S. Goldsmith (The Art of Spiritual Healing)
To illustrate: Everybody in the world knows the word “God,” but there are few people in the world who know God. For most of us God has remained a word, a term, a power outside the self; God, Itself, has not become a living reality except to those few people who are known as mystics.
Joel S. Goldsmith (The Art of Meditation)
Be willing to be used by God; be willing to be used by Truth. Be willing to be an instrument through which Truth reveals Itself, but do not attempt to use God. Never try to use God, Truth. If you understood the nature of God, never would you pray to God for any thing.
Joel S. Goldsmith (The Art of Spiritual Healing)
The kingdom of God is within us; the whole of the Godhead is to be found within our individual being, not in holy mountains nor yet in the temple at Jerusalem, but within us.
Joel S. Goldsmith (The Art of Meditation)
God expresses God, and that expression appears as you.

Joel S. Goldsmith (Consciousness Transformed)
through prayer, you can be reunited with your Source. Your prayer will not be an asking or a seeking for any thing; it will be an asking and a seeking and a knocking for more light, greater spiritual wisdom, greater discernment.

Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on thee.
Joel S. Goldsmith (Practicing the Presence)
Immortality is attained in proportion as personal sense is overcome, whether here or hereafter. As we put off the personal ego and attain the consciousness of our real Self – the Reality of us, divine Consciousness – we attain immortality. And that can be achieved here and now.
Joel S. Goldsmith (The Infinite Way)
The crucifixion of the self is accomplished when there is nothing left for which you wish to pray. To

What is happiness? George Bernard Shaw writes: “This is true joy in life: the being used for a purpose recognized by yourself as a mighty one.
Joel S. Goldsmith (Spiritual Interpretation of Scripture)
This listening is the art of meditation, in the learning of which we come to a place of transition where truth leaves the mind and enters the heart. In other words, there is no longer merely an intellectual knowledge about truth; but truth becomes a living thing within our being.
Joel S. Goldsmith (The Art of Meditation)
The mind will be still if there’s no warfare, but there’s always warfare if you have two powers, if you have good and evil, if you have desires, if you struggle to attain or achieve something.
Joel S. Goldsmith (The Foundation of Mysticism)
Spiritual Student! Rejoice as the outer building tumbles down, for the inner Temple is to be revealed. The mind of the individual seeking help is the Christ-mind –awaiting recognition. The man who has his being “in Christ” finds his capacities and abilities in Soul –not in the brain, body, or muscle.
Joel S. Goldsmith (The Infinite Way)
In this wise, do we understand that there is not a spiritual universe and a material world, but rather that what appears as our world is the Word made flesh, Spirit made visible, or Consciousness expressed as idea.

There is no judgment upon you; there is no memory of the past; there is only the understanding of this moment.

You might as well get used to the idea: All the evils of this world are nothing but pictures in the mind. When you know this, they begin to dissolve.
Joel S. Goldsmith (The Foundation of Mysticism)
Always remember, there are three states of consciousness: the material, the mental, and the spiritual.

God must become an activity in our consciousness. JOEL S. GOLDSMITH
Julia Cameron (The Artist's Way: A Spiritual Path to Higher Creativity)
Too many metaphysicians have spent too many years trying to make a spiritual God increase their human sense of good instead of being willing to abandon the human sense of good for the spiritual reality.
Joel S. Goldsmith (The Foundation of Mysticism)
The safest course for an Infinite Way student to follow is to admit freely that he does not know how to pray, how to go out or come in, or what to pray for, and then open himself in receptivity to that still small Voice which is within, closer than breathing, and let It pray through him, let It utter Its voice, let It have Its way. If you are praying for someone else, let It inform you, let It inform your patient or your student. Do not try to be Omniscience yourself in your praying, because you can be Omniscience only when you are completely absent from the personal sense of self, when you are absent from any knowledge, when you have attained that place of unknowing in which you definitely know that you do not know, and do not even want to know, but are willing and open to receive spiritual wisdom, spiritual guidance, spiritual strength. When you are praying or meditating for someone else, do not try to transfer thoughts to him, do not try to know what is right for him or best for him, but sit in a state of complete receptivity, and then let the Father function as your consciousness. You may not receive any message for your patient or student, but you do not need any. He will receive it, and he will receive it not from you, but from the Source of you. Your consciousness acts only as the instrument of contact, and you yourself may never know what the message is, or even whether any message has been received
Joel S. Goldsmith
The very moment that any form becomes a necessity in our experience, we are placing our dependence, our happiness, and our joy in that, instead of in the Infinite Invisible which is the cause of the form, and we are idolaters. We
Joel S. Goldsmith (Practicing the Presence)
The reason that you cannot feel any progress in yourself is that you cannot feel spiritual. There is no such thing as a person’s feeling spiritual. That is as impossible as feeling that you are honest or feeling that you are moral.
Joel S. Goldsmith (Beyond Words and Thoughts)
Do you know what we take with us as we leave this plane? We take our spiritual enlightenment, our knowledge of good. This is stored up where neither moth nor rust can corrupt, and we take it with us. That becomes the foundation of our next experience.
Joel S. Goldsmith (The Foundation of Mysticism)
The very minute you are not depending on bread alone for your life, you are spiritual. The very minute you know that money isn’t supply, that money is only one of the forms that supply takes for our temporary use—the minute you know that—you’re spiritual.
Joel S. Goldsmith (The Foundation of Mysticism)
Whether you want to believe it or not, the truth is that in your humanhood you could not have come to a spiritual teaching. ... You are on the Path now only because at some period of your life you were inwardly touched, and you found yourself turned in a direction which you could not have taken by yourself, ...
Joel S. Goldsmith (Beyond Words and Thoughts)
Years ago it was revealed to me that it is nonsense to pray for anything at all, because it isn’t possible to get anything through prayer. The principle behind that is this: God is the substance of all form. Therefore, if you haven’t God, you haven’t the form; but if you have God, you have all the forms that God constitutes.
Joel S. Goldsmith (The Foundation of Mysticism)
You have to turn to that within-ness in the deepest kind of humility, not with any belief at all that you are the child of God. Of course you are in your essence, but so was the prodigal son when he was eating with the swine. He was still the son of the king, heir to everything, and that didn’t do him much good. Neither does our heirship in Christ do us much good until by contact with this center within our own being we re-establish that oneness.
Joel S. Goldsmith (The Foundation of Mysticism)
There can be no fear of this infinite, universal God. When you study scripture and see how the Hebrews lived their lives in fear of God’s punishment, and then turn to the New Testament and realize that the Master gave as one of his reasons for being on earth, the forgiveness of sin and sinners, you know there is no reason under the sun for continuing to fear punishment for your sins of omission or commission. As a matter of fact, even if some of those sins should be continuing into our present experience, even if we have not reached the spiritual elevation in which all sin has departed from us–and who has?–even then we are to know we are not under the law of punishment but under the law of grace, under forgiveness, under God’s grace, which not only wipes out the penalty for sin but wipes out the capacity for sin. Sometimes sin lingers on even after the penalty has been wiped out, but it isn’t any different from the chicken that runs around after its head is cut off. It’s just fooling us for a little while; it’s dead but it doesn’t know it. So, too, our past is dead, even if some sins are temporarily being continued in the present. Why is our past dead? Because we acknowledge there are not two powers operating. There is only one.

Joel S. Goldsmith (The Early Years)
Gratitude is not related to an expectancy of what we may receive tomorrow. Gratitude is the sharing or expressing of joy for the good already received. It
Joel S. Goldsmith (Practicing the Presence)
Do you know that every person on earth would have supreme wisdom if there weren’t this mesmeric activity keeping it from them? In other words, this belief in two powers? Without that, there is only one infinite consciousness, manifesting itself as individual consciousness. Remember this: God-consciousness is your individual consciousness, and all that God is I am; all that God has is mine: “Son, thou art ever with me, and all that I have is thine.
Joel S. Goldsmith (The Foundation of Mysticism)
You must remember what I have said to many students who told me or wrote to me that they’re discouraged because they don’t feel spiritual. My answer has always been: “And you never will.” If you meet people who say they feel spiritual, don’t believe them; they’re lying to you. There is no such thing as feeling spiritual, any more than there is such a thing as feeling moral.
Joel S. Goldsmith (The Foundation of Mysticism)
Don’t try to feel anything. Be it. Don’t feel it.
Joel S. Goldsmith (The Foundation of Mysticism)
Violating these laws does not bring the wrath of God upon you, it brings the wrath of your sin upon you. You are never punished for your sins, never. And you never will be. You are punished by your sins, and you can’t avoid it.
Joel S. Goldsmith (The Foundation of Mysticism)
So I do know this: Whatever you release, you are released from. What you cling to is that which binds you. You are your own liberator.
Joel S. Goldsmith (The Foundation of Mysticism)
God is the infinite intelligence of this universe, and “He knoweth your need before you do; it is his good pleasure to give you the kingdom,” even before you ask. Therefore, you must go to God a humble soul, an empty soul: “Fill me Lord. Be thou my grace.” That’s all. And when God-realization takes place, you’ll find your needs will be fulfilled, for God is a law of fulfillment. God is fulfillment.
Joel S. Goldsmith (The Foundation of Mysticism: Spiritual Healing Principles of The Infinite Way)
There is nothing more definite than this, that “I of my own self can do nothing”; that I of my own self am nothing; that I of my own self have nothing. “The earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof.
Joel S. Goldsmith (The Foundation of Mysticism)
realize there are some teachings that claim we are completely perfect and spiritual now, and therefore all of this would be unnecessary. In our spiritual identity that’s true; but it certainly isn’t true of our humanhood. And it is our humanhood, or to our humanhood, that we are trying to bring light so that we may outgrow this humanhood
Joel S. Goldsmith (The Foundation of Mysticism)
But denying that you are a human being, and stating that you are already perfect and already spiritual and already have the mind of God, is merely a form of affirmation.
Joel S. Goldsmith (The Foundation of Mysticism)
There is such a complete sense of separation between God and the man of earth that the two never come together. That is why, in order to live under God’s grace, what Paul said must necessarily follow: “The spirit of God must dwell in you, otherwise you are not under the law of God, neither indeed can be.
Joel S. Goldsmith (The Foundation of Mysticism)
as scripture says, “God is too pure to behold iniquity.” Certainly God wouldn’t tolerate it today and then heal you of it tomorrow. That would make of God a human being, and not even a very nice one.
Joel S. Goldsmith (The Foundation of Mysticism)
What happens then? The hypnotism is dissipated and you are living a spiritual life, a God life. God was doing its job all the time. God was always manifesting its spiritual perfection as you, but only by seeing through a glass darkly did you see yourself in sin, disease, death, lack, and limitation.
Joel S. Goldsmith (The Foundation of Mysticism)
There is a God maintaining and sustaining the integrity of this universe, and it is perfect except when you see it through a glass darkly, or when you see it through a sense that has been to some extent mesmerized by the belief in good and evil.
Joel S. Goldsmith (The Foundation of Mysticism)
If you don’t accept it as reality, it cannot function against you. That’s the secret. “As ye sow, so shall ye reap.” If you believe there is a sinful person, then sin can be committed against you. If you believe there is a poverty-stricken person, poverty can knock at your door. If you believe there is disease and death, you can experience it.
Joel S. Goldsmith (The Foundation of Mysticism)
You are no more outside of God’s government than the stars, the sun, the moon, the tides, the fish swimming in the sea or the birds flying in the air.
Joel S. Goldsmith (The Foundation of Mysticism)
If we are to escape from the limitations of ordinary human existence, if we are to escape from the laws of matter and the laws of mind, we are only going to do it through learning some form of treatment such as this, and by reminding ourselves each day that God is the only law-giver and God is Spirit.
Joel S. Goldsmith (The Foundation of Mysticism)
We were under the law when we were under Moses. We came under grace when we came under Christ Jesus. But this grace cannot act except through our recognition and acceptance of it.
Joel S. Goldsmith (The Foundation of Mysticism)
You can, instead of trying to use God or make God your servant, submit yourself to God; be God’s child, God’s instrument through which God’s glory is made manifest on earth. Then, let God’s glory flow through you. It will never be your glory, regardless of how beautiful you are or become, or how worthy or worthwhile.
Joel S. Goldsmith (The Foundation of Mysticism)
We are establishing an understanding that the spiritual principles which we learn—the principles of spirit—are our protection, our health, our safety, our security, and our peace. And these principles will bring freedom to every individual on the face of the globe as the world awakens to them.
Joel S. Goldsmith (The Foundation of Mysticism)
Do you know that Albert Einstein expected to go to his grave keeping secret all that he knew about the atom? He pledged to himself that he would never reveal his knowledge to anyone, not because he didn’t understand the great good that would come to the world through right use of the atom, but because he knew that in the wrong hands it would become destructive and produce evil results.
Joel S. Goldsmith (The Foundation of Mysticism)
There are unimportant people in this world, but they are people who believe they are unimportant and that’s what keeps them so.
Joel S. Goldsmith (The Foundation of Mysticism)

Joel’s message was called The Infinite Way and reintroduced, with contemporary clarity, a message of immense value to those who are prepared for it and are equally dedicated to studying and working with it.
Joel S. Goldsmith (The Art of Spiritual Healing)
In THE ART OF SPIRITUAL HEALING, the great mystic Joel Goldsmith said, “Healing is finding an inner communion with something greater, far greater, than anything in the world; it is finding ourselves in God, finding ourselves in a spiritual peace, an inner peace, an inner glow, all of which comes to us with the realization of God with us, the presence and power of God felt.
Joel S. Goldsmith
The reason that you cannot feel any [spiritual] progress in yourself is that you cannot feel spiritual. There is no such thing as a person’s feeling spiritual. That is as impossible as feeling that you are honest or feeling that you are moral.
Joel S. Goldsmith (Beyond Words and Thoughts)
Let us have no addresses to which God’s grace is to be sent because God is not interested in one person more than in another.
Joel S. Goldsmith (The Contemplative Life)
I have been asked many times, "How do you stop thinking?" And I have found one way. The minute I can look at any person or condition and know that it is neither good nor evil, my thought stops, and my mind becomes quiet. That is the end of it because then there are no thoughts left for me to think about it: I do not think good of it and I do not think evil of it. All I know is that it is, and then I am back at the center of my being where all power is. Our mind is restless only when we are thinking about things or persons, either in terms of good or evil, but the mind is at rest when we surrender all such concepts.
Joel S. Goldsmith
As long as we can be made to believe that one thing is good and another evil, we shall remain outside the Garden of Eden, and one day have health and another day disease, experience youth and vitality one day and age and debility another day because those are the pairs of opposites and they follow one another in cycles. It is only when we do not desire wealth or harmony any more than lack or discord, but seek only that which was original and primary in the Garden of Eden, that we rise above these opposites into eternal life.
Joel Goldsmith, The Thunder of Silence
The world is full of discord. The question is asked again and again: Why, if there is a God, does this God permit sin, disease, war, famine, and disaster? How can all these evils be, if God is good, if God is life, if God is love? How can there be that kind of a God and the horrors of human experience? People throughout all time have attempted to solve this riddle, but there is no solution; there is no answer except that the world has not known God. We can never for a moment believe that if people in this world had a realization of God, they would have discord and inharmony, too. Discord and inharmony come into our life because of our ignorance of God. As we acquaint now ourselves with Him, we find the secret of harmonious existence. People throughout all time have sought freedom, peace, and plenty; but their search has been primarily through the feverish activity of the human mind. Pleasure and satisfaction have been artificially created, and because of their artificiality
