In Saks I wandered the aisles, aware of the fashionably elegant women and their once-over dismissive appraisals of me. As I watched them browsing for Gucci bags and designer perfumes, their faces taut and unnatural, I pondered the irony that was apparently lost on them. Distorted by face-lifts and thereby robbed of character, their faces were every bit as disfigured as mine.
