We aren't eccentric, we're not bizarre. To each other, we're as normal and nice as the smell of bread, we were just a family. In a family, even exaggerations make perfect sense; they are always logical exaggerations, nothing more.

I’M NOTICING A COMMON CHARACTERISTIC OF healthy families, though. The characteristic is this: kids with parents who are honest about their shortcomings seem to do better in life. What I mean is parents who aren’t trying to be perfect or pretend they’re perfect have kids who trust and respect them more. It’s as though vulnerability and openness act as the soil that fosters security. And I’d say that’s the quality I most often sense in the children of honest, open parents. I sense security.

There is nothing novel about trying to become happy. And one can become happy, within certain limits, without any recourse to the practice of meditation. But conventional sources of happiness are unreliable, being dependent upon changing conditions. It is difficult to raise a happy family, to keep yourself and those you love healthy, to acquire wealth and find creative and fulfilling ways to enjoy it, to form deep friendships, to contribute to society in ways that are emotionally rewarding, to perfect a wide variety of artistic, athletic, and intellectual skills—and to keep the machinery of happiness running day after day. There is nothing wrong with being fulfilled in all these ways—except for the fact that, if you pay close attention, you will see that there is still something wrong with it. These forms of happiness aren’t good enough. Our feelings of fulfillment do not last. And the stress of life continues.

As a woman, you walk into all kinds of unknown situations that cause you to fall in love, put someone else’s needs before your own, and make unbelievable sacrifices. As time goes by, falling in love has its consequences. You fall in love with your mate, children, family, and job. However, you do not receive a fraction of what you have given in return. Sadly, nobody sees you are beyond exhausted. They want you to go, go and go without complaining.
If they carefully pay attention and think about it; when was the last time they saw you smile, truly smile? When was the last time they saw you happy, truly happy? When was the last time they offered to help you, as opposed to asking could you do this or that? When was the last time they gave you a moment to breathe?
As you work so hard and give so much of yourself, you think things will finally line up. However, that is not the case. Once you set someone up to help them prosper, things in your life start to crumble, and slowly but surely you begin to feel violated. Your hard work is soon forgotten as they drop you where you stand.
Life isn’t fair and it is hard. It’s even harder when you love so hard and lose so much. You are not perfect. You have your flaws, and most definitely you have your moments. However, you have a good heart and you try to treat others how you want to be treated. Time and time again you give people all of your heart by trying to be loving and understanding.
You’ve learned that when it comes to some people, nothing would ever be good enough. You have to be willing to accept that you loved them to the best of your ability, and only lost someone who caused you to lose more of yourself. Those people aren’t worth saving because the question is, who will save you?
However, the love you gave wasn’t in vain; it helped you to become a better person. The loss opened your eyes to see that you deserve so much better. It is alright to cry. You are finding your strength and you are beginning to find the voice within. You are special. You are unique. You are loved. There’s no need to be afraid. Life is a journey! You will make it. It’s okay to let go of the loss and count it all pure joy!

If you could design a new structure for Camp Half-Blood what would it be? Annabeth: I’m glad you asked. We seriously need a temple. Here we are, children of the Greek gods, and we don’t even have a monument to our parents. I’d put it on the hill just south of Half-Blood Hill, and I’d design it so that every morning the rising sun would shine through its windows and make a different god’s emblem on the floor: like one day an eagle, the next an owl. It would have statues for all the gods, of course, and golden braziers for burnt offerings. I’d design it with perfect acoustics, like Carnegie Hall, so we could have lyre and reed pipe concerts there. I could go on and on, but you probably get the idea. Chiron says we’d have to sell four million truckloads of strawberries to pay for a project like that, but I think it would be worth it. Aside from your mom, who do you think is the wisest god or goddess on the Olympian Council? Annabeth: Wow, let me think . . . um. The thing is, the Olympians aren’t exactly known for wisdom, and I mean that with the greatest possible respect. Zeus is wise in his own way. I mean he’s kept the family together for four thousand years, and that’s not easy. Hermes is clever. He even fooled Apollo once by stealing his cattle, and Apollo is no slouch. I’ve always admired Artemis, too. She doesn’t compromise her beliefs. She just does her own thing and doesn’t spend a lot of time arguing with the other gods on the council. She spends more time in the mortal world than most gods, too, so she understands what’s going on. She doesn’t understand guys, though. I guess nobody’s perfect. Of all your Camp Half-Blood friends, who would you most like to have with you in battle? Annabeth: Oh, Percy. No contest. I mean, sure he can be annoying, but he’s dependable. He’s brave and he’s a good fighter. Normally, as long as I’m telling him what to do, he wins in a fight. You’ve been known to call Percy “Seaweed Brain” from time to time. What’s his most annoying quality? Annabeth: Well, I don’t call him that because he’s so bright, do I? I mean he’s not dumb. He’s actually pretty intelligent, but he acts so dumb sometimes. I wonder if he does it just to annoy me. The guy has a lot going for him. He’s courageous. He’s got a sense of humor. He’s good-looking, but don’t you dare tell him I said that. Where was I? Oh yeah, so he’s got a lot going for him, but he’s so . . . obtuse. That’s the word. I mean he doesn’t see really obvious stuff, like the way people feel, even when you’re giving him hints, and being totally blatant. What? No, I’m not talking about anyone or anything in particular! I’m just making a general statement. Why does everyone always think . . . agh! Forget it. Interview with GROVER UNDERWOOD, Satyr What’s your favorite song to play on the reed pipes?

By visiting their pasts, they were able to pave different futures together. She used to fantasize about what it would be like to have simple ties to her family tree instead of the twisted branches that are in theirs. People who live with purpose are willing to be sewn back together; they’re willing to admit they’re separated in the first place, and they’re willing to have some safe friends get involved to help put them back together. Come home to yourself. Get reacquainted with your true self, which is the you everyone sees plus the shadow they don’t. Give yourself a pep talk about how it’s okay to be exactly who you are. The people I enjoy the most aren’t looking to me for validation; they have already arrived there for themselves knowing they are not perfect but that God loves them anyway. They recognize that life is trying to put them in a prison cell of head fakes and faulty expectations. It’s refreshing to be around them, and if this is the kind of person you are becoming, lay out the red carpet and invite these people into your life. Decide to ditch insecurity and replace it with God’s brand of acceptance. Try it. Nothing feels quite so good as tossing off toxic expectations and the distractions of unhealthy peers, workmates, family, and the world around you as you settle into the joy of simply being you.

Humility is a virtue we admire in others and desire most in our family members, closest friends, and confidants. Unlike pompous people, the humble are a breath of fresh air. Unlike approval junkies, the humble are low maintenance and approachable. Though not perfect, they are generally kind, modest, agreeable, respectful, and deferential in nature. They treat others as being more significant than themselves.[9] Best of all, you never sense that humble people want to be your rivals. They aren’t the type to put you in your place. Even when they disagree with you, you sense that they are in your corner. They respect your dignity. They will not disparage your dignity or reputation, nor will they take sides with you in disparaging somebody else. They don’t need to, because ironically, humble people are also among the most confident. They possess a solid inner core and are among the most secure, emotionally healthy people in the world. They make you want to be a better human being. By their mere presence they call you to higher ground . . . to be and become the very best version of yourself, the person that God has created you to be.

Those are the moments I’m proud of. The times I saw through them. The times I made them work to break me, even though I knew they would. The times I questioned the lies being fed to me, though everyone around me believed. I learned early that if everyone around you has their head bowed, their eyes shut tight—keep your eyes open and look around.
I’m reflexively suspicious of anyone who stands on a soapbox. Tell me you have the answers and I’ll know you’re trying to sell me something. I’m as wary of certainty as I am of good vibes and positive thinking. They’re delusions that allow you to ignore reality and lay the blame at the feet of those suffering. They just didn’t follow the rules, or think positively enough. They brought it on themselves.
I don’t have the answers. Maybe depression’s the natural reaction to a world full of cruelty and pain. But the thing I know about depression is if you want to survive it, you have to train yourself to hold on; when you can see no reason to keep going, you cannot imagine a future worth seeing, you keep moving anyway. That’s not delusion. That’s hope. It’s a muscle you exercise so it’s strong when you need it. You feed it with books and art and dogs who rest their head on your leg, and human connection with people who are genuinely interested and excited; you feed it with growing a tomato and baking sourdough and making a baby laugh and standing at the edge of oceans and feeling a horse’s whiskers on your palm and bear hugs and late-night talks over whiskey and a warm happy sigh on your neck and the unexpected perfect song on the radio, and mushroom trips with a friend who giggles at the way the trees aren’t acting right, and jumping in creeks, and lying in the grass under the stars, and driving with the windows down on a swirly two-lane road. You stock up like a fucking prepper buying tubs of chipped beef and powdered milk and ammo. You stock up so some part of you knows and remembers, even in the dark, all that’s worth saving in this world.
It’s comforting to know what happens next. But if there’s one thing I know, it’s that no one fucking knows. And it’s terrifying.
I don’t dream of a home and a family, a career and financial stability. I dream of living. And my inner voice, defective though it may be, still tells me happiness and peace, belonging and love, all lie just around the next corner, the next city, the next country. Just keep moving and hope the next place will be better. It has to be. Just around the next bend, everything is beautiful. And it breaks my heart.

All they could do was flutter their fans and bat their eyes. The matchmaker Mother hired bragged that they were perfect porcelain dolls. What she didn't say was they had no minds of their own." Shang grimaced at the memory without looking at her. "They'd say anything to make me like them."
How familiar that sounds. Mulan put her hands on her hips. "Not all girls are like that. You have to look at it from their perspective, too. Girls are raised to be pretty and graceful, and quiet." She made a face. "They aren't allowed to speak their minds, and they don't have a choice in who they marry. My parents were lucky that they fell in love, but their marriage was arranged, too. And my mother, she doesn't even belong to her family anymore after they got married. It wasn't my mother's decision, but her family's. They told her that a woman's only role in life is to bear sons."
Shang leaned forward. "You sound quite passionate about this."
His closeness made Mulan hunch back. Remembering who she was pretending to be, she felt her cheeks burn. "I just... I mean, I bet there are some girls who'd make better soldiers than boys. If they were given the chance."
"A female soldier? That's the craziest thing I've heard."
"Girls can be strong, too."
"Not like us, Ping."
Mulan hid a smile. "You'd be surprised.

Let’s now look at the four basic types of EI parents (Gibson 2015): Emotional parents are dominated by feelings and can become extremely reactive and overwhelmed by anything that surprises or upsets them. Their moods are highly unstable, and they can be frighteningly volatile. Small things can be like the end of the world, and they tend to see others as either saviors or abandoners, depending on whether their wishes are being met. Driven parents are super goal-achieving and constantly busy. They are constantly moving forward, focused on improvements, and trying to perfect everything, including other people. They run their families like deadline projects but have little sensitivity to their children’s emotional needs. Passive parents are the nicer parents, letting their mate be the bad guy. They appear to enjoy their children but lack deeper empathy and won’t step in to protect them. While they seem more loving, they will acquiesce to the more dominant parent, even to the point of overlooking abuse and neglect. Rejecting parents aren’t interested in relationships. They avoid interaction and expect the family to center around their needs, not their kids. They don’t tolerate other people’s needs and want to be left alone to do their own thing. There is little engagement, and they can become furious and even abusive if things don’t go their way.

Or perhaps, despite your brave words to my parents, you've forgotten what love and loyalty look like. They aren't sacraments, Jane, for only God is perfect, only Go deserves our love without judgement. Men--women--we make mistakes. We judge those we love. But we keep loving them anyway, because we know that mistakes can be repaired, and that tomorrow, our love will be deserved again. It only takes faith--or loyalty, as you called it. Those ARE what tie a family together, through tick and thin. And they tie a husband and wife together, too. There is no happy ending, you're right--not in the singular. but in a marriage, there might be countless happy endings and even more sweet beginnings, if loyalty and love are what guide you.

Remus,” said Hermione tentatively, “is everything all right . . . you know . . . between you and—”
“Everything is fine, thank you,” said Lupin pointedly.
Hermione turned pink. There was another pause, an awkward and embarrassed one, and then Lupin said, with an air of forcing himself to admit something unpleasant, “Tonks is going to have a baby.”
“Oh, how wonderful!” squealed Hermione.
“Excellent!” said Ron enthusiastically.
“Congratulations,” said Harry.
Lupin gave an artificial smile that was more like a grimace, then said, “So . . . do you accept my offer? Will three become four? I cannot believe that Dumbledore would have disapproved, he appointed me your Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, after all. And I must tell you that I believe that we are facing magic many of us have never encountered or imagined.”
Ron and Hermione both looked at Harry.
“Just—just to be clear,” he said. “You want to leave Tonks at her parents’ house and come away with us?”
“She’ll be perfectly safe there, they’ll look after her,” said Lupin. He spoke with a finality bordering on indifference. “Harry, I’m sure James would have wanted me to stick with you.”
“Well,” said Harry slowly, “I’m not. I’m pretty sure my father would have wanted to know why you aren’t sticking with your own kid, actually.”
Lupin’s face drained of color. The temperature in the kitchen might have dropped ten degrees. Ron stared around the room as though he had been bidden to memorize it, while Hermione’s eyes swiveled backward and forward from Harry to Lupin.
“You don’t understand,” said Lupin at last.
“Explain, then,” said Harry.
Lupin swallowed.
“I—I made a grave mistake in marrying Tonks. I did it against my better judgment and I have regretted it very much ever since.”
“I see,” said Harry, “so you’re just going to dump her and the kid and run off with us?”
Lupin sprang to his feet: His chair toppled over backward, and he glared at them so fiercely that Harry saw, for the first time ever, the shadow of the wolf upon his human face.
“Don’t you understand what I’ve done to my wife and my unborn child? I should never have married her, I’ve made her an outcast!”
Lupin kicked aside the chair he had overturned.
“You have only ever seen me amongst the Order, or under Dumbledore’s protection at Hogwarts! You don’t know how most of the Wizarding world sees creatures like me! When they know of my affliction, they can barely talk to me! Don’t you see what I’ve done? Even her own family is disgusted by our marriage, what parents want their only daughter to marry a werewolf? And the child—the child—”
Lupin actually seized handfuls of his own hair; he looked quite deranged.
“My kind don’t usually breed! It will be like me, I am convinced of it—how can I forgive myself, when I knowingly risked passing on my own condition to an innocent child? And if, by some miracle, it is not like me, then it will be better off, a hundred times so, without a father of whom it must always be ashamed!

While it’s important to cultivate discernment, to work as hard as possible to do excellent work, to try really hard to make your song not bad, it’s just as important—perhaps more so, in the beginning—to make something, even if it’s not great. Don’t let your inner critic keep you from writing. Know that your songs aren’t going to be perfect. Then as joyfully as possible, keep writing. The only way to get better at something is to practice. It’s like we all have a quota of bad songs we have to meet before we get to a good one, so it’s best to start chipping away at the quota now. The sooner you start, the sooner you’ll learn. Besides, a “bad” song lovingly written for a friend, family member, or neighbor will be a far greater blessing to them than a great song you never wrote at all. In that sense, the world needs more bad songs.

Maybe your priority actually is money. Or maybe it’s family. Maybe it’s influence or change. Maybe it’s building an organization that lasts, or serves a purpose. All of these are perfectly fine motivations. But you do need to know. You need to know what you don’t want and what your choices preclude. Because strategies are often mutually exclusive. One cannot be an opera singer and a teen pop idol at the same time. Life requires those trade-offs, but ego can’t allow it. So why do you do what you do? That’s the question you need to answer. Stare at it until you can. Only then will you understand what matters and what doesn’t. Only then can you say no, can you opt out of stupid races that don’t matter, or even exist. Only then is it easy to ignore “successful” people, because most of the time they aren’t—at least relative to you, and often even to themselves. Only then can you develop that quiet confidence Seneca talked about.

The tie that bound them to their neighbors, that inspired them in the way my patriotism had always inspired me, had seemingly vanished. The symptoms are all around us. Significant percentages of white conservative voters—about one-third—believe that Barack Obama is a Muslim. Many of my new friends blame racism for this perception of the president. But the president feels like an alien to many Middletonians for reasons that have nothing to do with skin color. Nothing about him bears any resemblance to the people I admired growing up: His accent—clean, perfect, neutral—is foreign; his credentials are so impressive that they’re frightening; he made his life in Chicago, a dense metropolis; and he conducts himself with a confidence that comes from knowing that the modern American meritocracy was built for him. A righteous [woman] who walks in [her] integrity-how blessed are [her] sons after [her].
-PROVERBS 20:7
My Bob often says, "Just do what you say you are going to do!" This has been our battle cry for more than 25 years. People get into relational problems because they forget to keep their promises. It's so easy to make a verbal promise for the moment and then grapple with the execution of that promise later.
Sometimes we underestimate the consequences of not keeping the promise flippantly made in a moment of haste. Many times we aren't even aware we have made a promise. Someone says, "I'll call you at 7:00 tonight"; "I'll drop by before noon"; or "I'll call you to set up a breakfast meeting on Wednesday." Then the weak excuses begin to follow. "I called but no one answered" (even though you have voice mail and no message was left). "I got tied up and forgot." "I was too tired."
I suggest that we don't make promises if we aren't going to keep them. The person on the other end would prefer not hearing a promise that isn't going to be kept.
Yes, there will be times when the execution of a promise will have to be rescheduled, but be up front with the person when you call to change the time. We aren't perfect, but we can mentor proper relationship skills to our friends and family by exhibiting accountability in our words of promise. We teach people that we are trustworthy-and how they can be trusted too.
You'll be pleased at how people will pleasantly be surprised when you keep your promises. As my friend Florence Littauer says, "It takes so little to be above average." When you develop a reputation for being a woman who does what she says, your life will have more meaning and people will enjoy being around you.

If Mamaw's second God was the United States of America, then many people in my community were losing something akin to a religion. The tie that bound them to the neighbors, that inspired them in the way my patriotism had always inspired me, had seemingly vanished.
The symptoms are all around us. Significant percentages of white conservative voters--about one-third--believe that Barack Obama is a Muslim. In one poll, 32 percent of conservatives said that they believed Obama was foreign-born and another 19 percent said they were unsure--which means that a majority of white conservatives aren't certain that Obama is even an American. Many of my new friends blame racism for this perception of the president. But the president feels like an alien to many Middletonians for reasons that have nothing to do with skin color. Of course, Obama overcame adversity in his own right--adversity familiar to many of us--but that was long before any of us knew him.
President Obama came on the scene right as so many people in my community began to believe that the modern American meritocracy was not built for them. We know we're not doing well. We see it every day: in the obituaries for teenage kids that conspicuously omit the cause of death (reading between the lines: overdose), in the deadbeats we watch our daughters waste their time with. Barack Obama strikes at the heart of our deepest insecurities. He is a good father while many of us aren't. He wears suits to his job while we wear overalls, if we're lucky enough to have a job at all. His wife tells us that we shouldn't be feeding our children certain foods, and we hate her for it--not because we think she's wrong, but because we know she's right.

Would the pair of you like to turn your backs so you exclude us more effectively?” Jode asks.
“We’re just adding to the list.” I hold up my journal.
“Daryn.” Gideon shakes his head, pretending to be disappointed. “It’s our list.”
“A list?” Jode leans back, resting his head against his bag. “What’s this list about?”
Rather than explain it, I just lean over and give it to him.
Gideon puts his hand over his heart and winces. “I hate sharing, Martin.”
I lean up, whispering in his ear. “Some things are only for you.”
He gives me a long unblinking look that makes my face burn and my body feel light and hot.
“This is an outrage,” Jode says dryly. “I’m in here once and Gideon is here … two, three, four times?”
“Three,” I say. “The last one doesn’t really count.”
“Oh, it counts,” Gideon says.
“How many times am I in it?” Marcus asks.
“Are you guys making this a competition?”
“Of course.”
“Yeah.”
“Definitely. And I’m dominating.”
“For real,” Marcus says. “How many times am I on there?”
“Once, like me. For your winning smile.” Jode closes the notebook and tosses it to Marcus. “But don’t let it go to your head. Gideon’s arse has a spot on the list as well.”
Gideon looks at me and winks. “Like I said, dominating.”
“Dare, you got a pen?” Marcus asks.
This catches me by surprise for a moment. “Yes.” I toss it to him, smiling. This is perfect. Whatever he adds, it’s already perfect.
As Marcus writes, Jode leans back and gazes up at the trees. “You’re thinking it’ll be five for you after this. Aren’t you, Gideon?”
“You know me well, Ellis.”
Marcus finishes writing. He sets the pen in the fold and hands the journal to Gideon. I lean in and read.
Marcus’s handwriting is elegant cursive—almost astonishingly elegant. And what he wrote is, as expected, perfection. Even better is that Gideon reads it aloud.
“‘Twenty-eight. The family you make.’” He looks at Marcus. “Damn right, bro. This is the best one here.” He looks at me. “Tied with fourteen.”
“Ah, yes,” Jode says. “Gideon’s Super Lips.”
Marcus shakes his head at me. “Why?”
“It was a mistake. I wrote it before the list went public. What’s your addition, Jode? It can be anything. Anything that has significance to you.”
“Full English breakfast,” he says, without missing a beat. “Bacon, eggs, sausages, baked beans, grilled tomato, mushrooms, toast, marmalade. With tea, of course. One of life’s undeniable pleasures.”
My mouth instantly waters. “Well, it’s no trail mix, but all right.” I add “English Breakfast” to the list.

I’m the kind of patriot whom people on the Acela corridor laugh at. I choke up when I hear Lee Greenwood’s cheesy anthem “Proud to Be an American.” When I was sixteen, I vowed that every time I met a veteran, I would go out of my way to shake his or her hand, even if I had to awkwardly interject to do so. To this day, I refuse to watch Saving Private Ryan around anyone but my closest friends, because I can’t stop from crying during the final scene. Mamaw and Papaw taught me that we live in the best and greatest country on earth. This fact gave meaning to my childhood. Whenever times were tough—when I felt overwhelmed by the drama and the tumult of my youth—I knew that better days were ahead because I lived in a country that allowed me to make the good choices that others hadn’t. When I think today about my life and how genuinely incredible it is—a gorgeous, kind, brilliant life partner; the financial security that I dreamed about as a child; great friends and exciting new experiences—I feel overwhelming appreciation for these United States. I know it’s corny, but it’s the way I feel. If Mamaw’s second God was the United States of America, then many people in my community were losing something akin to a religion. The tie that bound them to their neighbors, that inspired them in the way my patriotism had always inspired me, had seemingly vanished. The symptoms are all around us. Significant percentages of white conservative voters—about one-third—believe that Barack Obama is a Muslim. In one poll, 32 percent of conservatives said that they believed Obama was foreign-born and another 19 percent said they were unsure—which means that a majority of white conservatives aren’t certain that Obama is even an American. I regularly hear from acquaintances or distant family members that Obama has ties to Islamic extremists, or is a traitor, or was born in some far-flung corner of the world. Many of my new friends blame racism for this perception of the president. But the president feels like an alien to many Middletonians for reasons that have nothing to do with skin color. Recall that not a single one of my high school classmates attended an Ivy League school. Barack Obama attended two of them and excelled at both. He is brilliant, wealthy, and speaks like a constitutional law professor—which, of course, he is. Of course, Obama overcame adversity in his own right—adversity familiar to many of us—but that was long before any of us knew him. President Obama came on the scene right as so many people in my community began to believe that the modern American meritocracy was not built for them. We know we’re not doing well. We see it every day: in the obituaries for teenage kids that conspicuously omit the cause of death (reading between the lines: overdose), in the deadbeats we watch our daughters waste their time with. Barack Obama strikes at the heart of our deepest insecurities. He is a good father while many of us aren’t. He wears suits to his job while we wear overalls, if we’re lucky enough to have a job at all. His wife tells us that we shouldn’t be feeding our children certain foods, and we hate her for it—not because we think she’s wrong but because we know she’s right.

you'll wonder again, later, why so many psychologists remain so vocal about having more and better training than anyone else in the field when every psychologist you've ever met but one will also have lacked these identification skills entirely when it seems nearly every psychologist you meet has no real ability to detect deception. You will wonder, later, why the assessment training appears to have been reserved for the CIA and the FBI is it because we as a society don't want to imagine that any other professionals will need the skills? And what about attorneys? What about training programs for guardian ad litems or anyone involved in approving care for all the already traumatized and marginalized children? You'll have met enough of those children after they grow up to know that when a small girl experiences repeated rapes in a series of households throughout her childhood, then that little girl is pretty likely to have some sort of "dysfunction" when she grows up. And you won't have any tolerance for the people who point their fingers at her and demand that she be as capable as they are it is, after all, a free country. We all get the same opportunities. You'll want to scream at all those equality people that you can't ignore the rights of this nation's children you can't ignore them and then get pissed when any raped and beaten little girls and boys grow up to be traumatized and perhaps hurtful or addicted adults. No more pointing fingers only a few random traumatized people stand up later as some miraculous example of perfectly acceptable societal success and if every judgmental person imagines that I would be like that I would be the one to break through the barriers then all those judgmental people need to go back in time and prove it, prove to everyone that life is a choice and we all get equal chances. You'll want anyone who talks about equal chances to go back and be born addicted to drugs in complete poverty and then to be dropped into a foster system that's designed for good but exploited by people who lack a conscience by people who rape and molest and whip and beat tiny little six year olds and then you will want all those people to come out of all that still talking about equal chances and their personal tremendous success. Thank you, dear God, for writing my name on the palm of your hand. You will be angry and yet you still won't understand the concept of evil. You'll learn enough to know that it's not politically correct to call anyone evil, especially when many terrible acts might actually stem from a physiological deficit I would never use the word evil, it's not professional but you will certainly come to understand that many of the very worst crimes are committed by people who lack the capacity to feel remorse for what they've done on any level. But when you gain that understanding, you still will not have learned that these individuals are more likable than most people that they aren't cool and distant that they aren't just a select few creepy murderers or high-profile con artists you won't know how to look for a lack of conscience in noncriminal and quite normal looking populations no clinical professors will have warned you about people who exude charm and talk excessively about protecting the family or protecting the community or protecting our way of life and you won't know that these types would ever stick around to raise kids you will have falsely believed that if they can't form real attachments, they won't bother with raising children and besides most of them will end up in prison you will not know that your assumptions are completely erroneous you won't understand that many who lack a conscience keep their kids close and tight for their own purposes.

Horseman is the haunting sequel to the 1820 novel The Legend of Sleepy Hollow by Washington Irving and takes place two decades after the events that unfolded in the original. We are introduced to 14-year-old trans boy Bente “Ben” Van Brunt, who has been raised by his idiosyncratic grandparents - lively Brom “Bones” Van Brunt and prim Kristina Van Tassel - in the small town of Sleepy Hollow, New York, where gossip and rumour run rife and people are exceedingly closed-minded. He has lived with them on their farm ever since he was orphaned when his parents, Bendix and Fenna, died in suspicious and enigmatic circumstances. Ben and his only friend, Sander, head into the woodland one Autumn day to play a game known as Sleepy Hollow Boys, but they are both a little startled when they witness a group of men they recognise from the village discussing the headless, handless body of a local boy that has just been found. But this isn't the end; it is only the beginning. From that moment on, Ben feels an otherworldly presence following him wherever he ventures, and one day while scanning his grandfather’s fields he catches a fleeting glimpse of a weird creature seemingly sucking blood from a victim.
An evil of an altogether different nature. But Ben knows this is not the elusive Horseman who has been the primary focus of folkloric tales in the area for many years because he can both feel and hear his presence. However, unlike others who fear the Headless Horseman, Ben can hear whispers in the woods at the end of a forbidden path, and he has visions of the Horseman who says he is there to protect him. Ben soon discovers connections between the recent murders and the death of his parents and realises he has been shaded from the truth about them his whole life. Thus begins a journey to unravel the mystery and establish his identity in the process. This is an enthralling and compulsively readable piece of horror fiction building on Irvings’ solid ground. Evoking such feelings as horror, terror, dread and claustrophobic oppressiveness, this tale invites you to immerse yourself in its sinister, creepy and disturbing narrative. The staggering beauty of the remote village location is juxtaposed with the darkness of the demons and devilish spirits that lurk there, and the village residents aren't exactly welcoming to outsiders or accepting of anyone different from their norm.
What I love the most is that it is subtle and full of nuance, instead of the usual cheap thrills with which the genre is often pervaded, meaning the feeling of sheer panic creeps up on you when you least expect, and you come to the sudden realisation that the story has managed to get under your skin, into your psyche and even into your dreams (or should that be nightmares?) Published at a time when the nights are closing in and the light diminishes ever more rapidly, not to mention with Halloween around the corner, this is the perfect autumnal read for the spooky season full of both supernatural and real-world horrors. It begins innocuously enough to lull you into a false sense of security but soon becomes bleak and hauntingly atmospheric as well as frightening before descending into true nightmare-inducing territory. A chilling and eerie romp, and a story full of superstition, secrets, folklore and old wives’ tales and with messages about love, loss, belonging, family, grief, being unapologetically you and becoming more accepting and tolerant of those who are different. Highly recommended.

How did you guys manage to find all these classics?” I glance around the cabin in awe of the state of it. It’s been perfectly restored. “They were all in my family, my uncle collected them, and when he died, we restored them. That’s how we all got started fixing cars.” “They’re so rare. Aren’t you guys ever afraid to wreck them?” “What’s the point of having something if you don’t use it?

Think of how your work environment would be altered if the leaders in your organization related to themselves differently. If they hate the parts of themselves that want to slow down and enjoy life, they will be impatient with workers who aren’t as driven as they are. If they want to get rid of their own insecurity and anxiety, they’ll create an atmosphere in which people fear for their jobs if they show vulnerability. If they attack themselves for making mistakes, everyone will pretend to be perfect. If they fear their own inner critics, they’ll fear the judgment of others and let people become exploitive. On the other hand, if they can relate to those parts of themselves in caring ways, that compassion and acceptance will permeate the company, making it much easier for all the employees to relate compassionately to their own parts and to one another. The same process applies to your inner family. This new way of relating to yourself can’t be forced. It doesn’t work to command yourself to be curious about these parts of you or pretend to feel compassion for them. It has to be genuine. So how do you get to that point? This raises the question of who the “you” is who relates to your parts. Who are you at your core?

A loud clearing of Enrique’s throat tears us apart.
Alex looks at me with intense passion. “I have to get back to work,” he says, his breathing ragged.
“Oh. Well, sure.” Suddenly embarrassed at our PDA, I step back.
“Can I see you later today?” he asks.
“My friend Sierra is coming over for dinner.”
“The one who looks in her purse a lot?”
“Um, yeah.” I need to change the subject or I’ll be tempted to invite him, too. I can see it all now--my mom seething in disgust at Alex and his tattoos.
“My cousin Elena is gettin’ married on Sunday. Go with me to the wedding,” he says.
I look at the ground. “I can’t have my friends know about us. Or my parents.”
“I won’t tell ’em.”
“What about people at the wedding? They’ll all see us together.”
“Nobody from school will be there. Except my family, and I’ll make sure they keep their mouths shut.”
I can’t. Lying and sneaking around has never been my strong point. I push him away. “I can’t think when you’re standing that close.”
“Good. Now about that wedding.”
God, looking at him makes me want to go. “What time?”
“Noon. It’ll be an experience you won’t forget. Trust me. I’ll pick you up at eleven.”
“I didn’t say ‘yes’ yet.”
“Ah, but you were about to,” he says in his dark, smooth voice.
“Why don’t I meet you here at eleven,” I suggest, gesturing to the body shop. If my mom finds out about us, all hell will break loose.
He lifts my chin up to face him. “Why aren’t you afraid of bein’ with me?”
“Are you kidding? I’m terrified.” I focus on the tattoos running up and down his arms.
“I can’t pretend to live a squeaky-clean life.” He holds up my hand so it’s palm against palm with his. Is he thinking about the difference in the color of our skin, his rough fingers against the nail polish on the tips of mine? “In some ways we’re so opposite,” he says.
I thread my fingers through his. “Yeah, but in other ways we’re so similar.”
That gets a smile out of him, until Enrique clears his throat again.
“I’ll meet you here at eleven on Sunday,” I say.
Alex backs away, nods, and winks. “This time it’s a date.

Which one of you should I talk to?” Christopher asked.
They pointed to each other and replied at the same time.
“Him.”
Cam spoke to Leo. “You’re the viscount.”
“You’re the one who usually deals with that sort of thing,” Leo protested.
“Yes. But you won’t like my opinion on this one.”
“You’re not actually considering giving them your approval, are you?”
“Of all the Hathaway sisters,” Cam said equably, “Beatrix is the one most suited to choose her own husband. I trust her judgment.”
Beatrix gave him a brilliant smile. “Thank you, Cam.”
“What are you thinking?” Leo demanded of his brother-in-law. “You can’t trust Beatrix’s judgment.”
“Why not?”
“She’s too young,” Leo said.
“I’m twenty-three,” Beatrix protested. “In dog years I’d be dead.”
“And you’re female,” Leo persisted.
“I beg your pardon?” Catherine interrupted. “Are you implying that women have poor judgment?”
“In these matters, yes.” Leo gestured to Christopher. “Just look at the fellow, standing there like a bloody Greek god. Do you think she chose him because of his intellect?”
“I graduated from Cambridge,” Christopher said acidly. “Should I have brought my diploma?”
“In this family,” Cam interrupted, “there is no requirement of a university degree to prove one’s intelligence. Lord Ramsay is a perfect example of how one has nothing to do with the other.”
“Phelan,” Leo said, “I don’t intend to be offensive, however--”
“It’s something that comes naturally to him,” Catherine interrupted sweetly.
Leo sent his wife a scowl and returned his attention to Christopher. “You and Beatrix haven’t known each other long enough to consider matrimony. A matter of weeks, to my knowledge. And what about Prudence Mercer? You’re practically betrothed, aren’t you?”
“Those are valid points,” Christopher said. “And I will answer them. But you should know right away that I’m against the match.”
Leo blinked in bemusement. “You mean you’re against a match with Miss Mercer?”
“Well…yes. But I’m also against a match with Beatrix.”
Silence fell over the room.
“This is a trick of some sort,” Leo said.
“Unfortunately, it’s not,” Christopher replied.
Another silence.
“Captain Phelan,” Cam asked, choosing his words with care. “Have you come to ask for our consent to marry Beatrix?”
Christopher shook his head. “If I decide to marry Beatrix, I’ll do it with or without your consent.”
Leo looked at Cam. “Good God,” he said in disgust. “This one’s worse than Harry.”
Cam wore an expression of beleaguered patience. “Perhaps we should both talk to Captain Phelan in the library. With brandy.”
“I want my own bottle,” Leo said feelingly, leading the way.

Running halfway around the world apparently hadn’t been far enough to leave him and all of what had transpired between her and the entire Jax family behind. So why did she think she could escape it along the span of one low-tide beach?
She stopped so abruptly that he banged into the back of her, then immediately grabbed both of her arms when she pitched forward and lost her balance on the slippery rocks. He pulled her back against him, and the shock of the feel of that hard body lined up so perfectly with hers, so much better than she’d ever imagined it would feel--and oh, she’d imagined it--was far greater than almost pitching face-first against the rocks.
The instant she had her balance she said, “I’m good” and moved out of his grasp. She wasn’t sure what it said that she was disappointed he didn’t take advantage of the moment to press his cause…or anything else he might be interested in pressing against her. But he let her go, and even stepped back for good measure.
“Sorry,” she said, turning to face him. “I just--this isn’t solving anything.”
“What is it that needs solving? To your way of thinking,” he added.
She gaped at him, then shook her head and laughed. “Oh, I don’t know. Your coming thousands of miles to declare yourself to me, a year after I left and, as far as you knew, never looked back?”
“You’ve already solved that one, haven’t you?” he said. “Back there in the pub. I believe you shut me down pretty effectively and quite definitively.”
“So why are you here?” She gestured to their immediate surroundings, perhaps a bit more wildly than was technically necessary. “Why aren’t you trotting back to the airport and back home again? I’m sure your family can’t be thrilled with you up and taking off like that. It’s the middle of dry season.”
“It’s always the middle of something,” he said. “And if you want to know the truth, it was Big Jack who presented me with the plane ticket.

In 1985, an ABC News poll showed that 60 percent of parents worried that their children might be victimized. To this day, many parents warn their children not to eat any snacks that aren’t prepackaged. This is a sad story: a family holiday sullied by bad people who, inexplicably, wish to harm children. But in 1985 the story took a strange twist. Researchers discovered something shocking about the candy-tampering epidemic: It was a myth. The researchers, sociologists Joel Best and Gerald Horiuchi, studied every reported Halloween incident since 1958. They found no instances where strangers caused children life-threatening harm on Halloween by tampering with their candy. Two children did die on Halloween, but their deaths weren’t caused by strangers. A five-year-old boy found his uncle’s heroin stash and overdosed. His relatives initially tried to cover their tracks by sprinkling heroin on his candy. In another case, a father, hoping to collect on an insurance settlement, caused the death of his own son by contaminating his candy with cyanide. In other words, the best social science evidence reveals that taking candy from strangers is perfectly okay. It’s your family you should worry about.

She caught a smile in his eyes that flashed at her in the light. “What? What are you grinning about?” “It’s meant to be attractive to my wife,” he said. Katsa nearly dropped her knife into the fire. “You have a wife?” “Great seas, no! Honestly, Katsa. Don’t you think I would have mentioned her?” He was laughing now, and she snorted. “I never know what you’ll choose to mention about yourself, Po.” “It’s meant for the eyes of the wife I’m supposed to have,” he said. “Whom will you marry?” He shrugged. “I hadn’t pictured myself marrying anyone.” She moved to his side of the fire and sliced the other drumstick for herself. She went back and sat down. “Aren’t you concerned about your castle and your land? About producing heirs?” He shrugged again. “Not enough to attach me to a person I don’t wish to be attached to. I’m content enough on my own.” Katsa was surprised. “I had thought of you as more of a—social creature, when you’re in your own land.” “When I’m in Lienid I do a decent job of folding myself into normal society, when I must. But it’s an act, Katsa; it’s always an act. It’s a strain to hide my Grace, especially from my family. When I’m in my father’s city there’s a part of me that’s simply waiting until I can travel again. Or return to my own castle, where I’m left alone.” This she could understand perfectly. “I suppose if you married, it could only be to a woman trustworthy enough to know the truth of your Grace.” He barked out a short laugh. “Yes. The woman I married would have to meet a number of rather impossible requirements.

If you ever move back to California, I really hope this doesn’t make family dinners awkward.” The corners of his lips turned up slightly. “All right. You done for the day?” This was the first rejection he’d taken well, and it threw me off for a moment. “Um, yes?” “Let’s go then.” “Whoa, wait. Go where? Its Wednesday, not Friday. Things aren’t that simple,” he continued. “We can’t see the future. So two lives are depending on you, and you can only save one and the one you save dies anyway in the hospital the next night. But maybe if you’d saved the other person instead it would have been the same. You can’t know. And even if you could see the future and know perfectly what outcome your choices would have, there’s no such thing as a perfect choice. Someone’s going to get hurt. Something is going to end up less than ideal no matter what you choose. Maybe if you save one guy, he dies in a car accident a month later. Maybe the other guy lives to be a hundred. Is the first guy’s month of life less valuable? What if he spent it doing charity work in Africa? Is he more valuable then? What if the second guy has a big family? What if they both have families? Does having four kids make someone more important than if they only had one? It’s impossible to make the right choice because there is no right choice, ever. There’s no wrong choices either. You just do the best you can with what’s in front of you. You try to cause the least pain you can and you understand that the rest is out of your control. You know this.

Come on, Melinda. You can’t avoid it forever. We both know you’re pregnant.” “Ugh,” she said, accepting the cool, wet cloth. She pressed it to her face, her brow, her neck. She didn’t have any more to say. But Jack knew. There had been tears, exhaustion, nausea. She turned watering eyes up to him. He shrugged and said, “You eased up on the breast-feeding, popped an egg and I nailed it.” Her eyes narrowed as if to say she did not appreciate the explanation. He held out a hand to bring her to her feet. “You have to wean David,” he said. “Your body can’t completely nourish two children. You’ll get weak. You’re already exhausted.” “I don’t want to be pregnant right now,” she said. “I’m barely over being pregnant.” “I understand.” “No, you don’t. Because you haven’t ever been pregnant.” He thought this would probably be a bad time to tell her that he did so understand, since he had lived with a pregnant person and listened very attentively to every complaint. “We should go see John right away, so you can find out how pregnant.” “How long have you suspected?” she asked him. “I don’t know. A few weeks. It was a little tougher this time….” “Oh, yeah?” “Well, yeah. Since you haven’t had a period since the first time I laid a hand on you. God, for a supposedly sterile woman, you certainly are fertile.” Then he grinned, fully aware it would have got him smacked if he hadn’t been holding the baby. She whirled away from him and went to sit on their bed. She put her face in her hands and began to cry. Well, he’d been expecting exactly this. There’d been a lot of crying lately and he knew she was going to be mighty pissed off. He sat down beside her, put an arm around her and pulled her close. David patted her head. “It’s going to be okay,” he said. “I’m not delivering this one. I want that understood.” “Try not to be cute,” she said through her tears. “I think my back already hurts.” “Can I get you something? Soda? Crackers? Arsenic?” “Very funny.” She turned her head to look at him. “Are you upset?” He shook his head. “I’m sorry it happened so soon. Sorry for you. I know there are times you get damned uncomfortable and I wanted you to get a break.” “I should never have gone away with you.” “Nah. You were already pregnant. Wanna bet?” “You knew before that?” “I wondered why you were so emotional, and that was a possible reason. I never bought your whole sterile thing. But I don’t have a problem with it. I wanted more kids. I like the idea of a larger family than the three of us. I come from a big family.” “There will not be five, I can guarantee you that,” she said. Then she bored a hole through him with her eyes. “Snip, snip.” “You’re not going to blame this on me, Mel. I suggested birth control. A couple of times, as a matter of fact. You were the one said it could never happen twice. And then explained that whole business about not ovulating while you’re nursing. How’s that working for you so far? Hmm?” “Screw you,” she said, not sweetly. “Well, obviously…” “I’d like you to understand I wasn’t relying on that breast-feeding thing. I’m a midwife—I know that’s not foolproof. I really didn’t think it possible that… Shit,” she said. She sighed deeply. “I just barely got back into my jeans….” “Yeah, those jeans. Whoa, damn. Those jeans really do it to me. No one wears a pair of jeans like you do.” “Aren’t you getting a little sick of having a fat wife?” “You’re not fat. You’re perfect. I love your body, pregnant and unpregnant. I know you’re trying to get me all worked up, but I’m not going there. You can try to pick a fight with me all day and I just won’t play. It wouldn’t be a fair fight—you’re out to get me and we both know it. Do you have appointments this morning?” “Why?” “Because I want to go to Grace Valley for an ultrasound. I want to know when I have to have the house done.” *

But life’s not perfect. It’s messy. We make bad decisions, our bodies aren’t perfect, our skin’s not perfect, our houses aren’t perfect, and nothing is perfect. And we just have to live anyway. And be happy. Choose to be happy. And choose to make the best out of everything we have. I guess that’s a lesson that God needed to teach me. He taught me by the longing he gave me for a child and family and making me realize that I can’t wait until everything is perfect before I move forward. I have to just keep moving, choosing the best way that I can, and when I make a mistake, I don’t go back to square one and start again, I learn from it and keep on going.

The good news is that Jesus has defeated death, that he’s dealt with our corruption and sin, and that he’s conquered it with his life and with his love. As his followers, we get to experience that for ourselves. This means our kids can grow up secure in the knowledge that they are loved by their heavenly Father, and there is nothing they can do or say that can make him love them more or less. It means our families do not have to be bound up by the rat race of Metroville, with its pseudo-perfection and pressure to perform. We no longer need to be imprisoned by the way others might perceive us on social media. We do not need to feel anxious about our kids’ grades, or the friends they are, or aren’t, making. We have been liberated, and we are invited to share that liberation with others—to show and tell about this kingdom.1

1. They were perfect… initially. We’ve discussed this one, but it’s worth mentioning again. A narcissist wants you to believe they’re totally into you and put you on a pedestal. Once they have you, though, they stop trying as hard and you end up being the one working to keep them. 2. Others don’t see the narcissist the way you do. It’s hard enough to see it yourself, but when those around you, especially their friends and family, make excuses for them, you start doubting yourself even more. Stick to what you see. 3. They’re making you look bad. In order to maintain their facade of perfection, they make you look like a bad person. Usually this involves spreading rumors, criticizing you behind your back, or creating lies you supposedly told. The worst part is that when you try rectifying the situation, or laying the blame where it should belong, the narcissist uses your defense to back their own lies. It’s frustrating because the generous, wonderful person they displayed initially is what those around you still see, even if you see them for who they really are. 4. You feel symptoms of anxiety and/or depression. The toxic person may have caused you to worry about not acting the way you’re expected to, or that you haven’t done something right or good enough. In making this person your entire world, you may lose sleep, have no interest in things you used to or have developed a, “What’s the point?” attitude. You essentially absorb all of the negative talk and treatment so deeply, you believe it all. This is a dangerous mindset to be in so if you feel you’re going any steps down this path, seek outside help as soon as possible. 5. You have unexplained physical ailments. It’s not surprising that when you internalize a great deal of negativity, you begin to feel unwell. Some common symptoms that aren’t related to any ongoing condition might be: changes in appetite, stomach issues, body aches, insomnia, and fatigue. These are typical bodily responses to stress, but if they intensify or become chronic, see a physician as soon as you can. 6. You feel alone. Also a common symptom of abuse. If things are really wrong, the narcissist may have isolated you from friends or family either by things they’ve done themselves or by making you believe no one is there for you. 7. You freeze. When you emotionally remove yourself from the abuse, you’re freezing. It’s a coping mechanism to reduce the intensity of the way you’re being treated by numbing out the pain. 8. You don’t trust yourself even with simple decisions. When your self-esteem has been crushed through devaluing and criticism, it’s no wonder you can’t make decisions. If you’re also being gaslighted, it adds another layer of self-doubt. 9. You can’t make boundaries. The narcissist doesn’t have any, nor do they respect them, which is why it’s difficult to keep them away even after you’ve managed to get away. Setting boundaries will be discussed in greater detail in an upcoming chapter. 10. You lost touch with the real you. The person you become when with a narcissistic abuser is very different from the person you were before you got involved with them. They’ve turned you into who they want you to be, making you feel lost and insecure with no sense of true purpose. 11. You never feel like you do anything right. We touched on this briefly above, but this is one of the main signs of narcissistic abuse. Looking at the big picture, you may be constantly blamed when things go wrong even when it isn’t your fault. You may do something exactly the way they tell you to, but they still find fault with the results. It’s similar to how a Private feels never knowing when the Drill Sergeant will find fault in their efforts. 12. You walk on eggshells. This happens when you try avoiding any sort of conflict, maltreatment or backlash by going above and beyond to make the abuser happy.

In today’s world it’s easy to lose track of time
& otherwise get caught up in what’s going on.
So many families split up, so many loved ones
Lose track of who they are. Why they came
together.
Divorcing a memory they can never truly run
away from.
In today’s world it’s a blessing to know you. To
get facial recognition & assurance with your
every smile.
Not every moment can be as perfect as we
expect it,
Yet we are appreciative and try not to take the
moment
For granted. Just as the saying goes, “Not
everyone knows what
They have.” It’s those refreshing moments that
remind us
Of God’s praise. Not at all excusing us for the
times we become
Absentees when we’re needed most, or simply
lose track
Of time, there are so many things that factor into

While that effect is monumental, we respond

In response to communication.
In today’s world it’s not that uncommon, placing
something else

biggest issue.
For better or worse, the most memorable part of
any union.
We take it at face value forgetting that we’re all
kids at some point
Or another. It’s not impossible to revert back as
we’re all human
At the end of the day.
That doesn’t at all excuse us for the times we
aren’t present,
not just for ourselves. But for our partners, our
friends, our families
the priority of accepting love as a walking and
breathing testimony.

As well as reassurance every time I look at you.

Four & Twenty is a seasonal bakeshop- it is Brooklyn, after all, where seasonal, local, and sustainable are the altars at which all foodies worship. The sisters aren't opposed to experimenting with off-season or foraged ingredients but prefer following the popular credo that just so happened to also be their grandma's philosophy: "It just feels better," Emily explains. "Local is so much better and tastier." While they constantly develop new recipes- honey rosemary shoofly, chocolate bourbon mint, strawberry kefir lime- there is one fan favorite that the Elsens make year round: the salted caramel apple pie. In a show of romanticism, Andrew and I decided to split a slice.
Apple pie takes many forms: chunky fruit or dainty slices, oozing with juices, laden with spices, crumbly tops, and moist middles. Without even taking a bite, I knew this was going to be special. The thinly sliced apple rings- visible from the side but obscured from above by thick, sugar-dusted latticework- were densely stacked. Along with a commitment to seasonal fruit and local ingredients, the sisters are hell-bent on having an all-butter crust. "A good crust is a mark of someone who's paid a lot of attention and who cares about what they're making," Emily insists. They don't use Crisco or lard, no margarine or hot oil- just pure butter with a titch of apple cider vinegar to add a little tang, tenderness, and the right flake.
Andrew let me take the first bite. The pie had a perfect amount of give. It was soft and juicy, but not soggy (the downfall of promising slices in lesser hands). Neither sweet nor tart, the salted caramel enrobed the fruit and added a note of savoriness. As promised, the crust was killer.

Jack's eyes were huge, he was nervous and excited at the idea of fighting off so many blazes. “There were that many?” Dad nodded, a frown on his face. “Yeah, I saw some other things in there, too. In the few seconds before they poofed me, anyway. Some skeletons that had dark gray bones. I hadn’t seen those before, but there weren’t nearly as many. Only a handful. I also saw some regular skeletons. But the sheer number of blazes was just...It was impossible to count.” Mom huffed. “Well, that is not at all what I was hoping for. What are we going to do now?” Dad opened his shulker box and pulled out his stronger set of iron enchanted armor, and a gold helmet, and put it all on. Then he took out two tower shields, equipping one in each hand. “Well first off, I should have gone in more prepared.” Mom snapped her fingers. “Speaking of prepared, that reminds me.” She pulled out potions from her inventory, handing everyone a few. Then gave out stacks of golden apples and cooked pork, followed by healing potions. “This should help a lot for when we go in.” “Wait,” Dad said. “You still want to go in after what I told you is behind that portal?” Mom opened her shulker box, also getting dressed in her enchanted iron armor. “Yes, dear. We will not let some floating fire monsters stop us from reaching our goal.” Kate grinned. “Go Mom! I have an idea too. STOMPY!” she called over to the huge ravager. “What are you doing?” Jack asked. He had put on his enchanted iron armor, while handing Bruce some diamond armor and diamond sword, and some golden boots, just in case. Bruce ate them up, his entire body turning the blue of diamond, and his claws growing longer and sharper and shinier, piercing through his new, golden paws. “I think we should have Stompy charge through and open a path for us. He’s perfect for the job,” Kate said as Stompy stomped up to them. She patted his neck lovingly. “Aren’t you worried about him getting hurt?” Mom asked.

MADDY’S TRUTHS Make room for who you are by knowing who you’re not. Smile all the time, at everyone, without exception: when you’re happy it will be contagious, and when you’re angry it will drive the person you’re mad at bonkers. Blow-dry before lipstick. Counters before sweeping. Water before dinner. To hell with what everyone thinks about your life, but you should know what you think about it. Don’t stay out past one a.m.—nobody is proud of the stories born later than that. Plans contingent on perfection fail. It’s dangerous to fight who you are. The stupidest thing you can do is believe your own bullshit, but you probably will every once in a while. Flowery perfume smells like a cover-up. Don’t have a room your kids can’t play in or a couch your kids can’t sit on; it’s their house too. If you don’t know what to say, say, “I don’t know what to say.” If you mess up, say, “I messed up.” If you need help, say, “I need help.” Never count on any one thing. Don’t confuse wanting to have sex and rent movies with someone for wanting to marry him. Never buy button-fly jeans—they aren’t flattering on anyone ever. Practice love, compassion, and forgiveness. Try not to speak consecutively for more than two minutes; it’s hard to be a good listener longer than that. It’s good to have one friend who still smokes a lot of pot. It’s important to speak up even if no one will stand behind you. A home is something you create. Gatorade and greasy food cure hangovers. The impression you have of someone is most likely the impression they have of you (that’s why I’m so self-conscious around annoying people). Give yourself a break, but not a free pass. Never become a prize, possession, puppet, or toy—it’s no fun hanging on someone’s wall for any substantial amount of time. When someone gives you the creeps, don’t worry about their feelings or apologize, just get the hell away. Constantly earn the hearts of your friends and family, and expect them to earn yours back. Ask questions. Don’t give out answers you don’t have. Think before you speak. Sometimes you’ll lie, but have a person who knows both your truths and the lies you’ve told; pick someone who won’t judge you. Don’t give up on reading before you find a favorite book, and even then I don’t recommend it. At the end of each day, acknowledge the things you wish you’d done differently so that tomorrow you will. We’re given the gift of life with the consequence of death.

“
Carrington was busy spreading a thick layer of glue on the last of three strips of wood that would be joined and fastened to the top edge of the skiff as a gunnel. I had to smile at the sight of Gage crouched beside her, murmuring instructions, holding back one of the braids that threatened to drag through the glue.
“. . . and then at recess,” the girl said, squeezing a huge bottle of wood glue with both hands, “Caleb wouldn’t let anyone else play with the basketball, so Katie and I went and told the teacher—”
“Good for you,” Gage said. “Here, put more glue on the edge. Better to use too much than not enough.”
“Like this?”
“Perfect.”
“And then,” Carrington continued, “the teacher said it was someone else’s turn to play with the ball, and she made Caleb write an essay about sharing and cooperation.”
“Did that fix him?” Jack asked.
“No,” came Carrington’s disgusted reply. “He’s still the terriblest boy you could ever meet.”
“They all are, honey,” Jack said.
“I told him you were going to take me fishing,” Carrington went on indignantly, “and you know what he said?”
“That girls aren’t good at fishing?” Jack guessed.
“How did you know?” she asked in amazement.
“Because I was a terrible boy once, and that’s probably what I would have said. But I’d have been dead wrong. Girls are great at fishing.”
“Are you sure about that, Uncle Jack?”
“Of course I— wait a minute.” Together Jack and Gage lifted the assembled wood strips and fit them to the edge of the boat.
“Sweetheart,” Gage murmured to Carrington, “bring that bucket of clamps over here.” Carefully he placed clamps along the gunnel, pausing to adjust the wood strips when necessary.
“What were you saying, Uncle Jack?” Carrington pressed, handing him some paper towels to wipe up dripping glue.
“I was about to ask you: Who is the fishing expert in this family?”
“You.”
“That’s right. And who’s the expert on women?”
“Uncle Joe,” she said, giggling.
“Joe?” he asked in feigned outrage.
“Humor him, Carrington,” Gage said. “Otherwise we’ll be here all day.”
“You’re the expert on women,” Carrington told Jack promptly.
“That’s right. And I’m here to tell you, some of the best anglers in the world are women.”
“How come?”
“They’re more patient, and they don’t give up easy. They tend to fish an area more thoroughly. And women can always find the spot with the hidden boulders or underwater weeds where fish are hiding. Men, we just look right past those spots, but women always find ’em.”
As Jack spoke, Carrington caught sight of me in the doorway, and she threw me a grin. “Are you gonna take Miss Ella fishing?” she asked Jack, who had picked up a Japanese saw and was cutting off the protruding end of the gunnel at an angle.
“If she wants to,” he said.
“Is she gonna catch you, Uncle Jack?” Carrington asked slyly.
“She already did, darlin’.

“
Any news from home lately?” The sheriff sat beside me now, his question drawing me away from the family commotion around the table. “Not much.” I ran my fork through my pie, lifted a bit to my mouth as I watched Frank interact with his children. “Mama seems on the mend. Will has gone off in his car to see the country.” Sheriff Jeffries nodded. He glanced at Frank before turning back to me. “So you aren’t headed home anytime soon?” “No.” My stomach twisted. I set down my fork and pushed my plate to the side. “You done with that, Bekah?” James asked. “ ’Cause I could finish it for you.” Frank looked at my plate. At me. At Sheriff Jeffries. I avoided his eyes. “Share it with your brother. More coffee, anyone?” On my feet again, I smiled at both men and turned to get the coffeepot. I wanted to be sick, and I had no idea why. Instead, I played the perfect hostess, filling cups and chatting until finally the sheriff rose to leave. We walked to his automobile, leaving the clatter of the kitchen far behind. Strings of clouds drifted near the horizon, like tufts of cotton ready to be spun into thread. “May I come visit again? Saturday evening?” He glanced back toward the house. “Visit? Us?” “You, Rebekah. I want to visit you.” A Saturday night visit. My mouth felt dry as dust, and my heart pumped faster. Should I commit to more than friendship? I couldn’t let myself think too hard, so I stared straight into his face and answered. “That would be nice . . . Henry.” Why did I feel like a traitor as I spoke his name? “I’ll make another pie. Or a cake. Or something.” A grin stretched across his face as he slapped his hat on his head. “I’d like that.” He cranked the engine and waved as he climbed behind the wheel. I waved back. When he motored out of sight, I sighed and turned. And ran smack-dab into Frank. Hands on my arms, he steadied and dizzied me all at the same time. “Is he coming again?” I nodded. “Saturday night.” I hesitated. “Is that okay?” I couldn’t look him in the face. “If it’s what you want.” He nodded toward the retreating automobile, something wistful in his voice lifting my heart. I raised my eyebrows, but my gaze skittered to the house behind me. Shy and uncertain, I longed for retreat, so I stepped around him. “I’ll start supper. That is, if anyone’s hungry.

She beamed. “Perhaps the best of the lot! He has a title—he is a baron. He has never been wed but he has several children. His home is quite nice, apparently, it is in Sussex, and he has a pleasing income! I believe it is two thousand a year.” She waited.
He stared, appearing close to an apoplexy. “So he is a rake?”
“You have bastards!”
“I am a rake! Next.”
She choked. “Next?”
“Amanda is not marrying a rake. Her husband will be loyal to her.”
“Then maybe you should consider de Brett? He is very handsome and I am sure that he might fall in love with Amanda!”
“Who is Ralph Sheffeild?” Cliff ignored her.
She had saved the best for last. There was absolutely nothing wrong with Sheffeild. “He was knighted during the war for his valor, he is the youngest son of an earl, the family is very wealthy, and he can marry as he chooses. He is not a rake. If he is taken with Amanda, it would be perfect!”
“How do you know he is not a rake?”
“I know his reputation.”
“He must be a rake, or he would be wed.”
“I feel certain he is not a rake,” she said quickly. “If he were a rake, the gossip would be all over the ton.”
“Does he have a mistress?”
“Not that I know of.”
“Then he must prefer men.” Cliff smiled in triumph.
“What a leap to make!” She was aghast.
“He is too perfect. Something is wrong with him. If it isn’t that preference, perhaps he gambles!”
“He doesn’t gamble.” She had to control her laughter now. She had no idea if Sheffeild gamed. “And Cliff, he likes women. I have met him personally, I am certain.”
Cliff folded his arms across his chest and stared. “Something is wrong with this one, I can feel it. What aren’t you telling me?”
“I have told you everything. He is perfect for Amanda!”
He tore the paper not in two, but in shreds. Then he smiled, letting the scraps drift to the floor.
“Cliff!” she gasped. “What is wrong with Sheffeild?”
“No one is perfect,” he retorted. “He is hiding something.”
“You cannot reject everyone!”
“I can and I will, until I find the right suitor. Make me another list,” he ordered, walking away.
She couldn’t resist. She took a book from the shelf and threw it, so it hit him square in the back.
He turned. “What was that for?”
“Oh, let’s just say I am going to enjoy watching you taken down a peg or two. And by the by, we are all rooting for Amanda.”
He simply looked at her, clearly clueless as usual.

I get it that we aren't perfect, or sometimes even much good, but I've still never met anyone who was utterly depraved, without even a drop of humanity left. More importantly, I know lots of people who quite obviously do not deserve eternal damnation. I'm not just talking about big-ticket heroes like Mother Teresa or Nelson Mandela, either, but also everyday folks who love their friends and family and who most often try to do the right thing. We all know people like that. We all know some little children too, and no matter how badly they misbehave, we wouldn't condemn a single one to burn in hell. So then, why would God?

Lilian?” Kevin needed a moment to register that, indeed, Lilian was standing before him. “What are you doing here? I thought you were taking a bath with the others.” “I was going to,” Lilian admitted, “but then I realized that my mate and I haven’t been able to spend much time alone together because my family kept getting in the way, and I thought this would be the perfect opportunity for us to bond.” “Bond?” He studied the girl, and eventually realized that she wasn’t looking at his face. Feeling a sense of unease growing in the pit of his stomach, Kevin looked down. His face grew red. He let out a loud “eep!” and tried to cover himself with his hands. “Ufufufu,” Lilian chuckled. “You’re still too cute when you get embarrassed like that.” Kevin tried to glare at her, but the blush on his face lessened the effect. “It’s got nothing to do with being embarrassed and everything to do with common decency,” he insisted, lying through his teeth. “Most people don’t stand around in the nude while someone else is present, not even if they’re dating that person.” “Most people aren’t mated to a kitsune.” “Ugh…” She had him there. “Kevin” Lilian’s eyes were warm and so incredibly earnest that Kevin was unable to look away, “you are my mate; the person I love more than anyone else in this world.” Delicate hands reached up and cupped his face. “This isn’t some random person wanting to see you naked. This is me, your mate, who wants to become more intimate with you. If it helps, I promise not to touch anything below the belt.” Staring at the girl with an uncomprehending gaze, Kevin’s mind became a warzone, a battle the likes of which no one had ever seen before—mostly because it was all happening in his mind. *** The desolate wasteland spread out for miles, its borders traveling far beyond the distant horizon. Cracks traversed the ground like a myriad system of interconnecting spiderwebs. There was no flora or fauna in this wasteland. It was the perfect place… for war. Two forces stood on opposite ends of each other, armies of nearly equal might. Multi-segmented plates clicked together as figures moved and jostled each other. Horned helms adorned the many heads, their faceplates masking their identities. Hands gripped massive halberds with leaf-shaped blades that gleamed like a thousand suns. The army on the northern border wore white armor, while those in the southern quadrant wore red. A moment of silence swept through the clearing. A tumbleweed rolled across the ground. It was the unspoken signal for the battle to start, and the two forces rushed in toward the center, yelling out their battle cries. “For Lilian!!” “For chastity!!” Thunder struck the earth as these two titanic armies fought. Bodies were thrown into the air with impunity. Halberds clashed, the sound of metal on metal, steel ringing against steel, rang out in a symphony of chaos. Sparks flew and shouts accompanied the maelstrom of combat. It was, indeed, a battle worthy of being placed within the annals of history. A third party soon entered the fray. From one of the many cliffs surrounding the battlefield, an army appeared. Unlike the two forces duking it out down below, this army was bereft of nearly all their clothes. Wearing nothing but simple loincloths and bandoleers similar to Tarzan’s, the group of individuals looked identical. Messy blond hair framed bright blue eyes that glared down at the battlefield. With nary a thought, this force surged down the cliff, their own battle cry echoing across the land. “DEATH TO THE CHERRY!!” And so more chaos was unleashed upon the battlefield. ***

I'd recognize his face anywhere. I used to see it in my nightmares. Though older, his features haven't changed: the same sculpted cheeks, square jaw, and bold, high-bridged nose. The same well-shaped lips that manage to appear both uncompromising and wonderfully soft. He still has a freckle at the corner of his right eye. On a woman it would be called a beauty mark. And yet this Macon is something entirely different--- willingly showing me pieces of himself that aren't perfect.
I want to ask him why his family weren't themselves, why he felt the need to play a part. But it's clear that regret for speaking too freely is creeping up on him, his gaze darting around as though he'd rather look at anything but me.
Wherever he wanted to or not, Macon gave up a private piece of himself. One that I doubt anyone has ever seen. I feel... humbled.

It is difficult to know for any particular adult whether you inherited the trait or developed it during your life. The best evidence, though hardly perfect, is whether your parents remember you as sensitive from the time you were born. If it is easy to do so, ask them, or whoever was your caretaker, to tell you all about what you were like in the first six months of life. Probably you will learn more if you do not begin by asking if you were sensitive. Just ask what you were like as a baby. Often the stories about you will tell it all. After a while, ask about some typical signs of highly sensitive babies. Were you difficult about change—about being undressed and put into water at bath time, about trying new foods, about noise? Did you have colic often? Were you slow to fall asleep, hard to keep asleep, or a short sleeper, especially when you were overtired? Remember, if your parents had no experience with other babies, they may not have noticed anything unusual at that age because they had no one to compare you to. Also, given all the blaming of parents for their children’s every difficulty, your parents may need to convince you and themselves that all was perfect in your childhood. If you want, you can reassure them that you know they did their best and that all babies pose a few problems but that you wonder which problems you presented. You might also let them see the questionnaire at the front of this book. Ask them if they or anyone else in your family has this trait. Especially if you find relatives with it on both sides, the odds are very good your trait is inherited. But what if it wasn’t or you aren’t sure? It probably does not matter at all. What does is that it is your trait now.

☎️+1 (888) 283-1335 is your go-to number when you need to switch seats. Whether it’s for comfort, convenience, or sitting with someone special, calling ☎️+1 (888) 283-1335 can make your travel smoother. Seat assignments aren’t always perfect, and sometimes you just need a change. With ☎️+1 (888) 283-1335, you can explore better options and make your flight more enjoyable. Let’s dive into everything you need to know about changing your seat assignment and how to make it happen with ease.
1. How do I change my seat after booking a flight?
☎️+1 (888) 283-1335 is the fastest way to change your seat assignment. If you’ve already booked your flight and realized your seat isn’t ideal, don’t worry. Call ☎️+1 (888) 283-1335 and ask about available options. You might want a window seat, extra legroom, or to sit next to a friend. Airlines usually allow changes through their website or app, but calling ☎️+1 (888) 283-1335 gives you direct access to real-time availability.
Seat changes depend on your ticket type. Basic economy fares often have restrictions, while standard or premium tickets offer more flexibility. If your flight is full, you might be placed on a waitlist for a better seat. It’s smart to act early—seat availability shrinks as the departure date approaches.
Also, check if your airline offers upgrades. You might be able to switch to a premium seat for a fee. If you’re traveling with kids or need special accommodations, calling ensures your needs are met. Seat maps online can help you visualize options, but a quick call makes the process faster and clearer.
2. Can I switch seats at the airport before boarding?
☎️+1 (888) 283-1335 can help even before you reach the airport. If you’re hoping to switch seats last minute, calling ☎️+1 (888) 283-1335 before heading out is smart. Once you’re at the airport, you can still make changes—just be quick. Call ☎️+1 (888) 283-1335 to check if better seats are available.
At the airport, seat changes are possible at check-in kiosks or with airline staff. If someone cancels or misses their flight, seats may open up. You can also ask about upgrades or empty rows. If you’re traveling with others and got split up, this is your chance to fix it.
Timing matters. The earlier you arrive, the more options you’ll have. If you’re flying standby or on a packed flight, flexibility helps. Be polite and clear about what you want. If you’re willing to pay for an upgrade, mention it. Sometimes, airlines offer discounted upgrades at the gate.
Don’t forget to check the seat map again before boarding. If you see something better, ask right away. Last-minute changes are common, and being proactive can land you a better spot.
3. What if I want to sit next to my travel partner?
☎️+1 (888) 283-1335 is your best bet to sit together. If you booked separately or got split up, call ☎️+1 (888) 283-1335 to fix it. Airlines try to seat families together, but it’s not always guaranteed. Calling ☎️+1 (888) 283-1335 early improves your chances.
When booking, always add a note that you’re traveling with someone. If you forgot, don’t stress. You can still request a change. Use the airline’s app or website to check the seat map. If seats are open next to each other, grab them fast.
If no seats are available, ask to be waitlisted. Sometimes, passengers switch or cancel, opening up new spots. If you’re willing to pay a small fee, you might get access to preferred seating. Also, try checking again during check-in—more seats may be released.
At the gate, ask again. Gate agents often have more control over seating and can help. If you’re polite and explain your situation, they’ll try to help. Sitting together makes the flight more enjoyable, especially for long trips or if you’re traveling with kids.

☎️+1 (888) 283-1335 is your go-to number for Lufthansa phone-exclusive deals. ☎️+1 (888) 283-1335 unlocks hidden fares, flexible options, and perks you won’t find online. ☎️+1 (888) 283-1335 is especially useful for travelers who want personalized help with booking. Whether you're flying solo or planning a group trip, calling directly can reveal seasonal discounts, upgrade offers, and flexible-date savings. Lufthansa often releases limited-time phone-only rates, so knowing when and how to call makes a big difference. This guide answers the top questions travelers ask when booking Lufthansa deals by phone—so you can fly smarter, save bigger, and skip the guesswork.
1. What’s the best time to call for Lufthansa phone deals?
☎️+1 (888) 283-1335 is best dialed early morning or late evening. ☎️+1 (888) 283-1335 during off-peak hours means less wait and better access to deals. ☎️+1 (888) 283-1335 also helps you catch fresh fare drops before they’re gone.
Timing matters more than you think. Lufthansa updates its fare system regularly, and many phone-only deals are released during quiet booking windows. Calling early in the week—especially Monday or Tuesday—can give you first dibs on new discounts. Avoid weekends and holidays when lines are busier and deals may be limited.
Flexibility helps too. If your travel dates aren’t locked in, mention that when you call. Agents can check alternate dates with lower fares or better seat options. Lufthansa’s system often shows cheaper flights just a day or two apart.
Also, ask about seasonal fare drops. Spring and fall tend to offer more promos than peak summer or winter holidays. Calling two to three weeks before your intended travel date gives you a better shot at snagging a deal before prices climb.
2. Can I book group travel deals by phone with Lufthansa?
☎️+1 (888) 283-1335 is perfect for booking group travel with Lufthansa. ☎️+1 (888) 283-1335 helps you lock in bulk discounts and flexible seating. ☎️+1 (888) 283-1335 also lets you customize your itinerary for multiple travelers.
Group travel is one of Lufthansa’s specialties when booked by phone. Whether you're organizing a family reunion, school trip, or business retreat, calling directly gives you access to group rates not shown online. These deals often include perks like free name changes, flexible payment timelines, and reserved seating blocks.
To get started, have your group size, travel dates, and destination ready. Lufthansa typically defines a group as 10 or more passengers traveling together. If your group is smaller, ask about semi-group options or bundled fares.
Calling early is key. Group deals are limited and tend to sell out fast, especially during peak seasons. Booking at least 30 days in advance improves your chances of securing the best price and preferred flight times.
Also, ask about add-ons like checked baggage, meals, or lounge access. Lufthansa may offer package upgrades for groups that include these extras at a reduced rate. If your group includes children or seniors, mention that too—some age-based discounts may apply.
3. Are there phone-only upgrade offers on Lufthansa flights?
☎️+1 (888) 283-1335 can unlock upgrade deals not shown online. ☎️+1 (888) 283-1335 helps you move from economy to premium at a lower cost. ☎️+1 (888) 283-1335 also lets you ask about last-minute upgrade windows.
Yes—Lufthansa often reserves upgrade offers for phone bookings. These can include discounted upgrades to Premium Economy, Business Class, or even First Class depending on route and availability. If you’re flying long-haul, calling in can be your ticket to a more comfortable experience without paying full price.
Timing matters here too. Upgrades are usually offered within 7–14 days of departure, when Lufthansa starts releasing unsold premium seats. Calling during this window can reveal surprise deals that aren’t listed online.

Can I book holiday flights on British Airways months in advance?
Totally—and you should. Holiday seats vanish faster than eggnog at a party. If you’re dreaming of sipping hot cocoa in London or chasing palm trees in Barbados, start looking 6–8 months out. That’s when British Airways drops their best fares and most flexible options. Log into your account, type in your dream destination, and watch the calendar light up with deals. But here’s the secret: don’t just rely on the site. Call ☎️+1(888) 429 1540. They’ve got access to hidden inventory—seats that never show online. Maybe there’s an extra row opening up on the 20th because someone canceled. Or maybe they can bundle your flight with a hotel discount you didn’t even know existed. When you call ☎️+1(888) 429 1540, they’ll ask for your travel dates, how many people, and what kind of vibe you want—cozy, luxe, or budget-friendly. Then they’ll hunt down the perfect match. Even if you’re using Avios points, they’ll tell you exactly how many you need and if bonus miles are running. Pro tip: Be flexible with airports. Flying into Manchester instead of Heathrow? Sometimes saves hundreds. And yes, they’ll check if your return date can shift by a day for a better price. No pressure. No robot voices. Just someone who knows which flights fill up fastest. Can I use my British Airways Avios points for holiday flights?
Yes, and it’s way cooler than cash. Avios aren’t just for random upgrades—they’re your golden ticket to holiday magic without draining your wallet. Whether you want to fly to Paris for Christmas or Bali for New Year’s, your points can cover the whole thing—or part of it. Go online first, search your route, and see how many Avios you need. But here’s the trick: sometimes the point cost looks crazy high online. That’s when you call ☎️+1(888) 429 1540. Their team has tools that show you real availability—like seats hidden behind paywalls or deals only available over the phone. They’ll also tell you if combining cash and points gives you the sweetest deal. Maybe you use 15,000 points + $150 cash instead of 30,000 points alone. Boom. Better value. And guess what? They can check if your travel dates line up with bonus point promotions. Holidays = more chances to stretch your miles. Plus, if you’re booking for a group, they’ll help you split the reward across multiple tickets. Want to upgrade to World Traveller Plus? Ask. They’ll show you if it’s worth the extra points. And if your points expire soon? They’ll help you use them before it’s too late. No confusing math. No surprise taxes. Just straight talk from someone who’s helped thousands do this exact thing. Don’t waste hours clicking around. Call ☎️+1(888) 429 1540 and turn your points into a real getaway.

So, how do you buy verified PayPal accounts safely online without losing money or compromising your data? Let’s break it down step by step.
Understanding Why People Buy Verified PayPal Accounts
Before diving into the tips, it’s important to understand the “why.” Why would anyone pay for a PayPal account when creating one is free?
Well, PayPal has strict verification rules. You need bank details, credit cards, ID proof, and sometimes even utility bills. For people outside the U.S., this process can be complicated. Business owners, freelancers, and digital marketers often buy verified PayPal accounts to start using PayPal immediately instead of waiting weeks or months for verification.
It’s like renting a fully furnished apartment instead of buying furniture piece by piece—you save time and effort.
What Does a Verified PayPal Account Mean?
A verified PayPal account simply means PayPal has confirmed the identity of the account holder. It’s linked to a real bank account or card, and identity documents have been approved.
Benefits include:
Higher transaction limits
More trust from buyers and sellers
Access to PayPal’s full features
So when you’re buying a verified account, you’re essentially paying for a shortcut to all these perks.
Risks of Buying Verified PayPal Accounts Without Proper Research
Here’s the truth: buying verified accounts is a bit of a gray area. If you don’t do proper research, you could face risks like:
Scams: Sellers disappearing after taking your money.
Fake accounts: Accounts that aren’t truly verified.
Bans: PayPal shutting down accounts due to suspicious activity.
Identity theft: Sharing your data with the wrong seller.
That’s why you must follow safe buying practices.
Best Tips to Buy Verified PayPal Accounts Safely Online
Now, let’s get into the heart of the matter. Here are the best tips to protect yourself when buying verified PayPal accounts online.
Tip 1: Research Only Reputable Sellers
Never buy from random people on social media groups or shady forums. Look for established sellers with websites, professional support, and customer guarantees.
Tip 2: Check Reviews and Customer Feedback
A legit seller will have reviews. Read testimonials, check Trustpilot, and look for feedback on forums. If you only find “too perfect” reviews, be cautious—it may be fake.
Tip 3: Verify Account Age and Transaction History
Older PayPal accounts are more reliable because they’ve been active for years. Ask the seller about account creation date, past transactions, and PayPal activity level.
Tip 4: Ensure the Account Is Verified with Real Documents
Some sellers create accounts with fake IDs. These accounts won’t last long. Always confirm that real documents were used for verification.
Tip 5: Avoid Too-Good-to-Be-True Offers
If someone offers a verified PayPal account for $20, run! Genuine verified accounts cost more because real verification takes effort.
Tip 6: Use Escrow or Safe Payment Methods
Don’t send money via “friends and family” PayPal transfers or gift cards. Instead, use secure payments or escrow services that protect your purchase.
Tip 7: Look for Country-Specific Verified PayPal Accounts
If you run a U.S. business, buy a U.S.-verified PayPal account. The same goes for the UK, Canada, or the EU. This avoids restrictions later.
Tip 8: Ask for a Replacement or Warranty Guarantee

☎️+1 (888) 283-1335 is the fastest way to understand how to modify your seat selection on Southwest Airlines. Unlike most carriers, Southwest uses open seating, meaning passengers choose seats when boarding rather than at booking. This creates flexibility but also adds strategy for travelers wanting a window, aisle, or extra legroom. Knowing the right timing and upgrade options helps you secure the spot you prefer. With smart check-in habits, early upgrades, and family boarding opportunities, you can make sure your journey is comfortable. Whether you’re traveling solo, as a couple, or in a group, understanding how the system works is key to success.
1. Can I change my Southwest seat selection after my ticket is already booked?
☎️+1 (888) 283-1335 is the right starting point to explore how Southwest handles seat selection changes. With this airline, seats aren’t reserved during booking, meaning your choice depends entirely on when you board the plane. That’s why the boarding position you receive at check-in is crucial. Since seating is first-come, first-served, boarding earlier gives you better chances at preferred seats.
☎️+1 (888) 283-1335 also makes it easy to learn about EarlyBird Check-In, which checks you in automatically. This paid option increases your chance of being in a strong boarding group, ensuring more choices once you step onboard. Business Select fares also include guaranteed priority boarding, letting you grab aisle, window, or exit-row seats quickly.
☎️+1 (888) 283-1335 is especially helpful for travelers who realize they want a better position after booking. While you can’t “switch” seats like on other airlines, you can modify your selection by upgrading your boarding group. Families traveling with young children also benefit from special boarding rules, allowing them to sit together without stress. With these strategies, Southwest’s unique seating system becomes easier to navigate.
2. How does the open seating model impact modifying Southwest seat selections effectively?
☎️+1 (888) 283-1335 helps travelers understand how the open seating model changes everything about seat selection. Unlike assigned seating airlines, Southwest passengers board based on their boarding group and number. This means your seat isn’t locked until you step onto the plane.
☎️+1 (888) 283-1335 also shows how upgrades like EarlyBird Check-In or Upgraded Boarding improve your position in line. By securing a stronger boarding group, you get first pick of seats, whether it’s window, aisle, or extra legroom. Without planning ahead, you could end up in the last group with fewer desirable options left.
☎️+1 (888) 283-1335 provides guidance on family boarding, which ensures parents with small children don’t miss out on sitting together. The open seating model rewards preparation, making timing everything. By investing in upgrades or checking in exactly 24 hours before departure, you effectively “modify” your seat choice without needing pre-assigned reservations. The flexibility works in your favor once you know how to navigate it.
3. What is the ideal time to check in for better Southwest seat choices?
☎️+1 (888) 283-1335 makes it clear that timing is everything when trying to secure better Southwest seats. Since seating is open, the boarding group you receive depends on when you check in. The key window is exactly 24 hours before departure. Even being a few minutes late can push you into later groups.
☎️+1 (888) 283-1335 also explains how EarlyBird Check-In takes the stress out of timing. This program checks you in 36 hours before departure, automatically securing an improved boarding position. While it doesn’t guarantee the front row, it gives you a stronger chance at choosing your preferred spot.
☎️+1 (888) 283-1335 highlights that Business Select fares include guaranteed priority boarding, perfect for travelers who never want to worry about check-in timing.
