Such a personality and such a blunder, I could not ignore it, even though I am sure it was not a deliberate intention. António Guterres’s written and video message executed the Muslim world as a community; it is still a question: does the United Nations consider Muslims a community or separate nations? I commented on that message: Please note that the Muslim world is not a community; a community is a small group of people. Do you think Muslim nations, with an estimated total of approximately 1.9 billion, the majority in 49 countries, are a community? I know it is very tough to bear the truth, and that’s why most of my writings face illegitimate restrictions in civilized societies where press and speech freedom matter. It is a question: how much truth is in it?

Het is zomer. We vieren Eid al-Fitr, het Suikerfeest, zonder baba. Het is de eerste keer dat ik me echt eenzaam voel in mijn ei-gen land. Niet alleen omdat baba er niet is. Ik weet dat hij veilig is in België en daar een nieuw en beter leven voor ons zoekt. Ik voel me eenzaam omdat ik voel en zie dat mama verdrietig is en omdat ze er niet over praat. Ik voel me eenzaam omdat mijn broers, en zeker de kleine Yasmina, uitkijken naar het Suikerfeest. Soms denk ik dat zij baba niet missen, maar ik weet dat het geen echt feest zal zijn zonder hem.

11 mei 2021 Morgen is het Eid al-Fitr, het einde van de ramadan. Ik zal blij zijn als de vasten afgelopen is. Niets eten of drinken van zonsopgang tot zonsondergang... Ik hoef de ramadan niet te volgen, maar ik doe het wel. Baba en mama ook, en Hossein, maar die heeft het niet lang volgehouden Waarom ik de ramadan volg? Ik weet het niet precies.
