A more fitting metaphor of the traditional pedagogy is managing a factory of mechanical workers, where the teacher is the manager and students the workers. The teacher gives instructions and assigns tasks to students each day. The students work as hard as possible to finish the tasks. At the end of the work period, the students are rewarded or punished based on how well they have complied with the instructions and completed the tasks.

It is apparent that the traditional teacher-centered pedagogy needs to be changed. It is also more feasible than ever before to make the change. The change is more than piecemeal tinkering. It is a paradigm shift, a complete rethinking of how teaching and learning are carried out

Kensi Gounden - Ten Vintage Ideas to Spark Innovation in Your Classroom
Kensi Gounden says, Vintage innovation happens when we use old ideas and tools to transform the present. Think of it as a mash-up. It’s not a rejection of new tools or new ideas. Instead, it’s a reminder that sometimes the best way to move forward is to look backward. Like all innovation, vintage innovation is disruptive. But it’s disruptive by pulling us out of present tense and into something more timeless.
This isn’t meant to be nostalgic. There are certainly horrible things in the past that we don’t want to repeat. However, in the ed tech drive toward collective novelty, we often miss out on the classic and the vintage.
According to kensi gounden, here are ten ways you can embrace the vintage in your classroom.
Sketch-Noting
Commonplace Books
Prototyping with Duct Tape and Cardboard
Apprenticeships
The Natural World
Play
Socratic Seminars
Games and Simulations
Experiments
Manipulatives
A garden is valuable but students can videochat with an expert at a greenhouse. It’s powerful to bring in World War II soldiers to talk face-to-face about their experiences. There’s something amazing about the vintage element of human connection.
If you need more help regarding vintage innovation you can contact kensigounden, he will definately help you in acieving your goals.

In this talk, I tell the story of how, when I was first a manager at New York Tech, I didn’t feel like a manager at all. And while I liked the idea of being in charge, I went to work every day feeling like something of a fraud. Even in the early years of Pixar, when I was the president, that feeling didn’t go away. I knew many presidents of other companies and had a good idea of their personality characteristics. They were aggressive and extremely confident. Knowing that I didn’t share many of those traits, again I felt like a fraud. In truth, I was afraid of failure. Not until about eight or nine years ago, I tell them, did the imposter feeling finally go away. I have several things to thank for that evolution: my experience of both weathering our failures and watching our films succeed; my decisions, post–Toy Story, to recommit myself to Pixar and its culture; and my enjoyment of my maturing relationship with Steve and John. Then, after fessing up, I ask the group, “How many of you feel like a fraud?” And without fail, every hand in the room shoots up. As managers, we all start off with a certain amount of trepidation. When we are new to the position, we imagine what the job is in order to get our arms around it, then we compare ourselves against our made-up model. But the job is never what we think it is. The trick is to forget our models about what we “should” be. A better measure of our success is to look at the people on our team and see how they are working together. Can they rally to solve key problems? If the answer is yes, you are managing well.

For that particular session, everyone said they picked it because of the word entitled in the descriptor. They’d all encountered people who acted entitled at Pixar—people who insisted on having their own piece of equipment, even if it could be shared, or who groused that they couldn’t bring their dogs to work. “This is a job,” one animator said. “A great job. We are well paid. These people need to wake up.” What was most striking to those in attendance at the “Great Workplace” session was how much they had in common. The Systems guy told a story about answering a frantic call for tech support. He rushed over to assess the problem, only to be told by the aggrieved artist that the machine should be fixed during lunch—because that’s when it would be most convenient for her. “I need to eat lunch, too,” he told the group, as everyone nodded their heads. The chef told a similar story about a last-minute request to cater a working lunch that came without any acknowledgement of the hassle (and hustle) it would require of her staff.

They saw me as an “Important Manager” at an “Important Company,” whereas the colleagues who’d started out with me at New York Tech just saw me as Ed. As my position changed, people became more careful how they spoke and acted in my presence. I don’t think that my actions changed in a way that prompted this; my position did. And what this meant was that things I’d once been privy to became increasingly unavailable to me. Gradually, snarky behavior, grousing, and rudeness disappeared from view—from my view, anyway. I rarely saw bad behavior because people wouldn’t exhibit it in front of me.

We use the term edtech (educational technology) rather than tech (technology) purposefully. First and foremost, we are educators. An edtech coach is not IT (instructional technology). Our job is not to fix printer settings or to order new light bulbs for projectors. YouTube videos can teach you how to use a technology tool. An organic edtech coach focuses on building and guiding: building relationships with educators of all levels, and guiding them in designing learning experiences that accelerate student growth toward academic goals.

An effective technology advocate is someone who possesses strong communication skills and who has the respect of his or her colleagues. The technology advocate needs to be able to communicate with both the Office of Technology & Information Systems and their colleagues about various technology projects and plans. The building technology advocate will facilitate communication between your department and the staff at his or her building. A technology advocate does not need to be the most tech-savvy person in the building, but a good understanding of technology is vital for success in the position.

Skinner’s teaching machine might look terribly out-of-date, but I’d argue that this is the history that still shapes so much of what we see today. Self-paced learning, gamification, an emphasis on real-time or near-real-time corrections. No doubt, ed-tech today draws quite heavily on Skinner’s ideas because Skinner (and his fellow education psychologist Edward Thorndike) has been so influential in how we view teaching and learning and how we view schooling. So much B. F. Skinner. So little Seymour Papert. So little Alan Kay. I'd argue too that this isn’t just about education technology. There’s so much Skinner and so little Kay in “mainstream” technology too. Think Zynga, for example.

What alternatives can we build? What can we imagine? Can we envision a future of learner agency, of human capacity, of equity, of civic responsibility, of openness for example? I called this talk “Un-Fathom-able,” thumbing my nose I confess at the failures of Fathom and what I think we may soon see as the failure of Coursera. I called this talk “Un-Fathom-able” too because I fear that there’s much in ed-tech that we’ve failed to explore – partly, I would argue, that’s because we have failed to learn and to reflect on the history of ed-tech. It’s easy to blame technologists, I suppose. But I think all this runs deeper than that. There’s been a failure of imagination to do something bold and different, something that, to borrow Papert’s phrasing, unlocks “powerful ideas” in learners rather than simply re-inscribing powerful institutional mandates. We can’t move forward until we reconcile where we’ve been before.

Linus: Okay sorry, what is this called ? Scotty: "Huaqiangbei" *laughs* Linus: fantastic, alright so i'm here at Scotty: "Huaqiangbei" Linus: yeah perfect thank you, with Scotty From 'Strange Parts', so I'm "getting me some strange parts" In China Which is actually exactly what we're doing So, in this, like, gigantic tech mall-thing They have everything from components like switches To.. Computer parts, to drones, to cryptocurrency-crap Mobile phones.. Pretty much you name it, they got it here. So I don't really have any objective, other than go shopping and see exactly what it is That I can buy with my little stack of 'Canadian Rubles' here. So, uhh.. Wish me luck. And hopefully that's not for me. Scotty: No, I think we're good. Big fun buttons we could press And if we could have just walked into a mall and bought them That would have made my Christmas. Scotty: The cool thing about here, particularly for buttons, is you can actually come in and touch them, right. So, like, the button-feel is super important Linus: Oh my god, I already found something I need. Entire bags of like, motherboard standoffs. I was trying to buy just a bag of computer screws Only place I could find for it was eBay Pricing was just totally unreasonable. Scotty: Yeah and it will be very reasonable here. Linus: Smartwatches, totally 100% real Beats. Scotty: These are probably, like, semi-real Linus: Semi-real? Scotty: Yeah, like refurb-ed type. Linus: Right, okay. Wow. This place is enormous. Scotty: It's crazy, right? This is probably one of twenty buildings Linus: Honestly, it's overwhelming. Scotty: Yeah. Linus: Okay, so here's stuff I mostly recognize. Scotty: "Right!" Linus: There's like A bunch of mining gear.. Like Antminers and.. What else do they got? Mining Power supplies ROG.. Something something Looks like Very similar SKU's Linus: I'm just looking. Why “Pixar”? The name emerged from a back-and-forth between Alvy and another of our colleagues, Loren Carpenter. Alvy, who spent much of his childhood in Texas and New Mexico, had a fondness for the Spanish language, and he was intrigued by how certain nouns in English looked like Spanish verbs—words like “laser,” for example. So Alvy lobbied for “Pixer,” which he imagined to be a (fake) Spanish verb meaning “to make pictures.” Loren countered with “Radar,” which he thought sounded more high-tech. That’s when it hit them: Pixer + radar = Pixar! It stuck.

Their [personal digital assistants] siren voices are living proof of our times - that our mind is software, running on the computer that is our brain. Consciousness is just a couple of clever hack away. We are only meat machines, no better, and increasingly, worse, than computers. According to the more triumphalist voices in the tech industry, we should revel in our soon-to-come obsolescence; we should be grateful that Homo Sapiens will have served as a bridge between biology and the inevitable next step in evolution, superintelligence. Smart money in Silicon Valley thinks so, op-ed pieces proclaim it to be so, and sleek sci-fi flicks reinforce this poor man's Nietzschean ideology.
Mind-as-software is the dominant mythos of liquid modernity, of our hyper-individualized, glove-trotting, technology-worshipping culture. It is the one remaining mythos of an age that believes itself immune to mythology. An age whose elite is witnessing with incomprehension and indifference the dying struggle of the once all-powerful mythos that sustained the West for two millennia - Christianity.

Misrepresentation leads to permanent bans.
Microsoft: Requires active institutional affiliation. Fake claims void credits and may trigger audits.
Adobe: Reserves the right to request proof (e.g., enrollment letter). Fraud = account termination + billing for full price.
Using a bought .edu email is fraud, not a hack.
2. Account Theft & Recovery
Most “sold” edu emails are:
Stolen from real students (via phishing or data breaches)
Created using fake enrollment at diploma mills (later revoked)
Shared by current students for profit (and later reclaimed)
The original owner—or the school—can revoke access at any time, wiping your data and tools.
3. Scams Are Rampant
The .edu email black market thrives on Telegram, Reddit, and shady websites. Common scams:
Sellers provide inactive or fake addresses that fail verification
“Lifetime access” claims are lies—most accounts expire in weeks
Payment (often in crypto) is non-refundable
No regulation. No accountability.
4. Legal and Academic Consequences
In the U.S., fraudulently obtaining educational benefits can violate:
The Computer Fraud and Abuse Act (CFAA)
Institutional honor codes (if linked to a real school)
Terms of federal education networks
While rare, legal action is possible—especially for bulk or commercial misuse.
5. Security & Privacy Exposure
Purchased accounts often come with:
Saved passwords or session cookies
Access to university portals (grades, financial aid, Wi-Fi)
Malware or spyware embedded in cloud storage
You’re not just buying an email—you’re inheriting someone else’s digital life.
Can You Legitimately Get an Edu Email Without Being a Traditional Student?
Yes—through official, low-cost educational pathways:
1. Enroll in a Community College or Online Course
Many U.S. community colleges offer affordable, short-term courses (as low as $40–$100) that grant full .edu access. Examples:
Foothill College (California)
Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA)
Coursera/edX partner programs with verified certificates
Even a single 1-credit course often qualifies you for student benefits for 6–12 months.
2. Join Coding Bootcamps with .Edu Partnerships
Some bootcamps (e.g., Lambda School, Kenzie Academy) issue .edu emails through partner institutions. Verify legitimacy before enrolling.
3. Use Alternative Student Verification Services
Platforms like SheerID (used by Amazon, Spotify) accept:
Official enrollment letters
Class schedules
Student ID cards
You don’t always need a .edu address—just proof of enrollment.
4. Leverage Free Developer Programs
If you’re a developer, consider:
GitHub Free Tier (most features available without Student Pack)
Google Cloud Free Tier
AWS Educate (open to learners worldwide, no .edu required)
Many “student-only” tools have robust free alternatives.
Ethical Considerations: Why Integrity Matters
Using a fake .edu email isn’t a victimless act. It:
Deprives real students of limited program resources
Undermines trust in academic verification systems
Normalizes fraud in tech and education
