Your Krishna Paramatma said one thing there and here he says something quite opposite. How can these two be reconciled?' Take for instance this one idea. It is supposed that such a lengthy discourse was given by Lord Krishna, isn't that true? Where? On the battlefield. When? After Dharma, Kaurava, and Satyaki had sounded their war conches! Just when the battle was about to commence! If Krishna went on with a long sermon to Arjuna on the battlefield, what did the others do? Did they sleep? Go home and return when the sermon was over? It sounds unbelievable. This Krishna said, "The atma does not die." He said that the atma or the soul alone is real and not the body. He said, 'You are not the one that is actually going to kill.' 'Do your duty,' he said, 'Don't seek the fruits thereof.' Now, think of all those statements. It was the same Krishna who also said, 'If you die in the battle in an attempt to kill your enemy, you will go to heaven.' But he himself told you not to yearn for the fruits of your actions! He told you that passion and anger are evil. He asked Arjuna to kill his enemy. He stated that the body was an illusion. Yet, it was he who ordered the destruction of the enemy's body. Nothing can stain the soul—that was what he said. 'If you don't carry on the war, you are going to suffer ignominy' he also declared. It is hard to swallow all these contradictory statements. They really are clever words; but I cannot believe them.
