Muhammad’s numerous wives have occasioned a good deal of prurient interest in the West, but it would be a mistake to imagine the Prophet basking decadently in sensual delight, like some of the later Islamic rulers. In Mecca, Muhammad had remained monogamous, married only to Khadija, even though polygamy was common in Arabia. Khadija was a good deal older than he, but bore him at least six children, of whom only four daughters survived. In Medina, Muhammad became a great sayyid (chief), and was expected to have a large harem, but most of these marriages were politically motivated.

While the exact changes Muhammad made to this tradition are far too complex to discuss in detail here, it is sufficient to note that women in the Ummah were, for the first time, given the right both to inherit the property of their husbands and to keep their dowries as their own personal property throughout their marriage. Muhammad also forbade a husband to touch his wife’s dowry, forcing him instead to provide for his family from his own wealth. If the husband died, his wife would inherit a portion of his property; if he divorced her, the entire dowry was hers to take back to her family. As one would expect, Muhammad’s innovations did not sit well with the male members of his community. If women could no longer be considered property, men complained, not only would their wealth be drastically reduced, but their own meager inheritances would now have to be split with their sisters and daughters—members of the community who, they argued, did not share an equal burden with the men. Al-Tabari recounts how some of these men brought their grievances to Muhammad, asking, “How can one give the right of inheritance to women and children, who do not work and do not earn their living? Are they now going to inherit just like men who have worked to earn that money?” Muhammad’s response to these complaints was both unsympathetic and shockingly unyielding. “Those who disobey God and His Messenger, and who try to overstep the boundaries of this [inheritance] law will be thrown into Hell, where they will dwell forever, suffering the most shameful punishment” (4:14). If Muhammad’s male followers were disgruntled about the new inheritance laws, they must have been furious when, in a single revolutionary move, he both limited how many wives a man could marry and granted women the right to divorce their husbands.

This was very troubling. It made me think of Mina’s father, a supposed Muslim, selling his own daughter to another man to become a wife and slave. But Islam teaches that a man must not touch a woman without her consent. Mina didn’t consent to be a wife. None of this made any sense to me, the more I thought about it. I talked to Shakila, and she told me that rape and murder are sins in Islam. I understood that well, but still everything I’d seen with my own eyes, the way Mina was treated, filled me with doubts. Science must become religious and religion scientific. This double evolution, already in preparation, would finally and forcibly bring about a reconciliation of Science and Religion on esoteric grounds. The work will not progress without considerable difficulty at first, but the future of European Society depends on it. The transformation of Christianity, in its esoteric sense would bring with it that of Judaism and Islam, as well as a regeneration of Brahmanism and Buddhism in the same fashion, it would accordingly furnish a religious basis for the reconciliation of Asia and Europe.

The call for justice was a protest as fierce as those of the biblical prophets and of Jesus, and the similarity of the call was no coincidence. As with early Judaism and early Christianity, early Islam would be rooted in opposition to a corrupt status quo. Its protest of inequity would be an integral part of the demand for inclusiveness, for unity and equality under the umbrella of the one god regardless of lineage, wealth, age, or gender. This is what would make it so appealing to the disenfranchised, those who didn't matter in the grand Meccan scheme of things, like slaves and freedmen, widows and orphans, all those cut out of the elite by birth or circumstance. And it spoke equally to the young and idealistic, those who had not yet learned to knuckle under to the way things were and who responded to the deeply egalitarian strain of the verses. All were equal before God, the thirteen-year-old Ali as important as the most respected graybeard, the daughter as much as the son, the African slave as much as the highborn noble. It was a potent and potentially radical re-envisioning of society. This was a matter of politics as much as of faith. The scriptures of all three of the great monotheisms show that they began similarly as popular movements in protest against the privilege and arrogance of power, whether that of kings as in the Hebrew bible, or the Roman Empire as in the Gospels, or a tribal elite as in the Quran. All three, that is, were originally driven by ideals of justice and egalitarianism, rejecting the inequities of human power in favor of a higher and more just one. No matter how far they might have strayed from their origins as they became institutionalized over time, the historical record clearly indicates that what we now call the drive for social justice was the idealistic underpinning of monotheistic faith.

Virgins, however, are to be forcibly married to the soldiers who have slaughtered their families. The Koran 4:3 is quite clear that a man should take multiple wives: ‘Marry of the women, who seem good to you, two or three or four; and if you fear that you cannot do justice (to so many) then one (only) or (the captives) that your right hands possess.’ In other words, you can do what you like with female infidels, with the womenfolk in the country which you have invaded.

While the establishment of the Wahhabi school of thought created an intellectual form of anti-Shia ideology, it is probable that this philosophy would have remained isolated in the political backwater of the Nejd Sultanate (the core of modern Saudi Arabia) if not for the fall of the Ottoman Empire and the final abolition of the Caliphate. The Ottomans had claimed to be Caliphs of the Muslim world since 1453, the same year that they conquered Constantinople (Istanbul) from the Byzantine Empire, and they ruled over a considerable portion of the world's Sunnis, as well as the shrine cities of Mecca, Medina and Jerusalem.  After 1876, the Sultans had placed particular emphasis on their role as Caliphs in order to bolster their global position by asserting their Empire's "Muslim” character, and while this was never universally accepted by all Sunnis or Shias, Sunni Muslims everywhere at least could say that there was a government that claimed to represent the form of rule established by the Prophet and that provided legitimacy and continuity.

All his daughters witnessed Islam, embraced it, and emigrated to Madinah.

The poet-king al-Mutamid was exiled to Morocco. When Cordoba fell to the invaders, his daughter-in-law Princess Zaida fled to Alfonso, who made her his concubine before converting her to Christianity and marrying her as Queen Isabella. In 2018 newspapers claimed that the British queen Elizabeth II was descended from the Prophet Muhammad, citing Zaida as her ancestor. Zaida had two daughters; one, Elvira, married Roger, the Hauteville count of Sicily; the other, Sancha, is the progenitor of a line of royalty, via Richard earl of Cambridge and Mary queen of Scots, to George I. It is a link between Islam and Christendom from a more cosmopolitan time. Al-Mutamid was descended from the Arab kings, the Lakhm of Iraq – royalty older than the Prophet but not related to him – and al-Mutamid was Zaida’s father-in-law, not her father. There is no evidence Zaida, let alone Elizabeth II, was descended from Muhammad.

In 1178, the eighteen-year-old Tamara was crowned co-ruler alongside her embattled father Giorgi III, who married his other daughter Rusudan to a Komnenos prince. In the Latin west, most women in power were swiftly deposed by magnates, but influenced by the Constantinopolitan tradition of empresses, Tamara at least had a template. Queen at twenty-four on the death of her father, Tamara manoeuvred carefully to appease rebellious potentates who resented feminine power, but in 1185 she was forced to marry a Russian prince descended from Rurik, Yuri of Vladimir-Suzdal. The heyday of Rus was long gone. The Rurikovichi feuded constantly as they struggled to rule the most powerful principalities. Yuri got lucky, becoming king of Georgia, but Tamara was king of kings. She loathed the oafish Yuri, who, ‘when drunk, showed his Scythian habits; utterly debauched and depraved, he even embraced sodomitic behavour’. In 1187, she accused him of unnatural vices, divorced him and exiled him to Constantinople. Liberated from the patriarchy of clergymen and barons, she now married – unusually, for love – her attractive, intelligent cousin David Soslam, an Ossetian prince whom she had known all her life. Faced with Islamic resurgence, she formed an alliance with Saladin, then unleashed her husband David against the Turkic rulers of eastern Türkiye and western Iran. When she was challenged by a Seljuk prince, she told him, ‘You rely on gold and numerous warriors, I on God’s power.’ Her coins, in Arabic and Georgian, just read: ‘Champion of the Messiah’.

WHAT ABOUT THE RAPTURE?            A minister friend upon hearing about the Daughter of Babylon prophecies as applied to America asked, “But won’t we all be gone in the Rapture?” If only it were so. The Daughter of Babylon prophecies are all world events that will happen before the following prophetic events:            a.) the rise of the Antichrist and False Prophet;          b.) the second peace treaty with Israel;          c.) the Rapture of the Church;          d.) the seven year Tribulation period;          e.) the Second Coming of Christ.

The three future occurrences that scripture tells us we should be expecting and watching for are:                   1.) Israel will truly be “at peace” for the first time since its founding in 1948;            2.) The Daughter of Babylon will severely persecute many of God’s people;            3.) The Daughter of Babylon will betray Israel, by not coming to its defense when a Russian-Muslim coalition invasion of Israel occurs, causing many in Israel to die.

The historic importance of the Khidr story is unfortunate, given another lesson that emerges from it in Islamic tradition: don’t kill children, unless you know they’re going to grow up to be unbelievers. One early Muslim, Najda, recalled, “The Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) used not to kill the children, so thou shouldst not kill them unless you could know what Khadir had known about the child he killed, or you could distinguish between a child who would grow up to be a believer (and a child who would grow up to be a non-believer), so that you killed the (prospective) non-believer and left the (prospective) believer aside.”26 This interpretation may help to explain the persistent phenomenon of honor killing in Islamic countries and even among Muslims in the West, in which a Muslim kills a daughter or other relative who has “shamed” him by engaging in allegedly un-Islamic activity, such as dating a non-Muslim boy or adopting Western clothing. Muslims who take the Koran literally can find a justification in this passage for such acts by claiming his victim was turning into an unbeliever.

Therefore, moving to a nation that today has a resident Muslim population will most likely result in living in a fully Muslim nation, soon after the fall of the Daughter of Babylon, along with Jihadists who believe that Christians and Jews must “revert” to Islam, or be decapitated. Not a good choice.

How does this tie into the Biblical prophecies concerning the Daughter of Babylon? First, the Daughter of Babylon, as is seen in scripture, will fall because of its treachery in failing to support Israel, leading to the shedding of blood of many Israelites. Jeremiah says about the Daughter of Babylon in 51:49: “Babylon must fall because of Israel’s slain, just as the slain in all the earth have fallen because of Babylon.” Is the second part of this verse a reference to America’s role in leading the world towards acceptable and legalized abortion practices? Multiply over forty million abortions worldwide each year by the years since 1973. Over a billion babies in the world have died, in part, because of America’s ‘leadership’ in promoting abortion globally. What a gruesome legacy. Who else better deserves the title of ‘Mother of Abominations’?

It is not unreasonable to assume that the amount of blood shed will be tied to the numbers of the innocent unborn who were aborted in and allowed by the Daughter of Babylon.

Remember that God says in Numbers 35:33 that “atonement cannot be made for the land on which blood has been shed, except by the blood of the one who shed it.” When the accounting for the blood of the slain innocent fifty five million aborted Americans happens, the accounting will likely take at least fifty five million non-innocent Americans, who could have stopped the slaughter, but who decided instead to look the other way. Is God likely, as we have done, to look the other way, and not stop the attack on America? “‘When I called, they did not listen; so when they called, I would not listen’, says the Lord Almighty.” (Zechariah 7:13).          It’s not necessary to believe America is the Daughter of Babylon to believe that God will keep His word and demand America must make an accounting for the blood of fifty five million babies killed by abortion and that the accounting will be demanded from those who shed/allowed the shedding of the blood. God either means what He said, or He doesn’t.

As we have seen from scripture, once Israel is at peace, Russia, Iran and their Muslim allies, will try to wipe out Israel, but God will miraculously intervene, with no help from Israel’s military treaty partner, the Daughter of Babylon. The invaders will be destroyed, with destruction back in the homelands of Russia and Iran. Israel, though bloodied, will still stand (Ezekiel 38 and 39). So much for the first peace treaty.

Many who don’t face martyrdom for their faith will likely turn from their faith because they want to ‘join the winning team.’ The conversion to Islam by westerners following the 9/11 attacks has been documented. (Islam Attracts Converts by the Thousands, New York Times, October 22, 2001). This phenomenon would only increase if an entire nation falls, instead of just falling buildings. There will be millions of believers in the world after America falls. Many of these will have heeded God’s several warnings in the Bible to flee from the Daughter of Babylon to save their lives. But there will also be many nominal “Christians” in the world in the end times who will fall away from their faith, just as Jesus and Paul said they will. The future Jihadist destruction of the Daughter of Babylon is a more than plausible explanation for why so many will depart the faith, and fall away, in the end times.

Women are inherently crooked? Certainly some Muslim clerics think so—or at least, they do not believe in legal equality for women. Bangladeshi Islamic cleric Mufti Fazlul Haq Amini read the same Koran that Tony Blair found so progressive and yet complained about attempts in his native country to establish equal property rights for women. The problem? That would be “directly against Islam and the holy Koran.”7 And where do Muslims get such ideas? They stem from the overall inferior status of women promulgated in the Koran, which specifically refutes the notion that women have as much basic human dignity as men. To the contrary, Allah says men are superior. When giving regulations for divorce, Allah stipulates that women “have rights similar to those (of men) over them in kindness.” Similar, but not identical, for “men are a degree above them” (2:228). Far from mandating equality, the Koran portrays women as essentially possessions of men. The Koran likens a woman to a field (tilth), to be used by a man as he wills: “Your women are a tilth for you (to cultivate) so go to your tilth as ye will” (2:223). And in a tradition Muhammad details the qualities of a good wife, including that “she obeys when instructed” and “the husband is pleased to look at her.”8 The Koran decrees women’s subordination to men in numerous other verses:            •    It declares that a woman’s legal testimony is worth half that of a man: “Get two witnesses, out of your own men, and if there are not two men, then a man and two women, such as ye choose, for witnesses, so that if one of them errs, the other can remind her” (2:282).            •    It allows men to marry up to four wives, and also to have sex with slave girls: “If ye fear that ye shall not be able to deal justly with the orphans, marry women of your choice, two or three or four; but if ye fear that ye shall not be able to deal justly (with them), then only one, or (a captive) that your right hands possess, that will be more suitable, to prevent you from doing injustice” (4:3).            •    It rules that a son’s inheritance should be twice the size of that of a daughter: “Allah (thus) directs you as regards your children’s (inheritance): to the male, a portion equal to that of two females” (4:11).            •    It allows for marriage to pre-pubescent girls, stipulating that Islamic divorce procedures “shall apply to those who have not yet menstruated” (65:4).

Those whose First and Second Amendment rights are taken from them won’t like it and will most likely fight back, leading to the “violence in the land” that Jeremiah describes. These future events will lead, in part, to the government of the Daughter of Babylon’s persecution of God’s people. One significant result? Many under persecution will flee the nation.

When the family of Pharaoh found him in the river by the tree, Pharaoh called him Musa. Mu is water in Coptic and sha is tree. He named him by where he found him, for the ark stopped by the tree in the river. Pharaoh wanted to kill him. His wife, speaking by divine articulation in what she said to Pharaoh about Musa since Allah had created her for perfection as Allah said about her when He testified that she and Maryam, daughter of 'Imran, have the perfection which men have (8) - said, "he may be a source of delight for me and for you." (28:9) She would be consoled by him with the perfection which she received as we have said. The consolation of Pharaoh was with the belief Allah gave him when he was drowning. So Allah took him pure and purified. There was no impurity in him since He took him in his belief before he had acquired any wrong actions. Islam effaces what was before it. He made him a sign of His concern so that none might despair of the mercy of Allah, for "no one despairs of solace from Allah except for the unbelievers." (12:87) If Pharaoh been of those who despair, he would not have embarked on belief. Musa, peace be upon him, was, as the wife of Pharaoh said, "a source of delight for me and for you. Do not kill him. It may well be that he will be of use to us." That is what happened. Allah gave them use of Musa, although they were not aware that he was a prophet who would destroy the kingdom of Pharaoh and his family.

Under Muslim law, a man's freedom to divorce his wife is justified in the Koran. This system of the threat of divorce looming over a woman's security is most unsettling to women in my land. It is intolerable that many men stretch this ruling to the utmost of its flexibility, demanding divorce for the most trivial causes, ending with the continuous social degradation of their women. Women do not have the same options, since a divorce in a woman's favour is given only after a thorough investigation into her life. More often than not, women will not be allowed to divorce, even when there is just cause. This female lack of freedom so enjoyed by males creates onesided, often cruel methods of male control and power over their women. The words of divorce slip most easily off the tongue of a man who wishes to punish his wife, 'I divorce thee', or 'I dismiss thee', sending the woman into exile from her married home, often without her children.

Then I brought up the obvious, that the physical vulnerabilities of a woman can be traced to that most important function of human accomplishments, the absorption of her strength in carrying, nursing and rearing children. I have always known that this one fact doomed females to a subordinate status in all societies. Instead of attaining honour for being producers of life, we are penalized! To my mind, this fact is the scandal of civilization!

America has been blessed materially beyond all other nations. God has called on our blessed nation for decades to come back to Him. Each year, each day, we have ignored His loving entreaties to repent and be healed. So, what should He do? Cancel His call to repentance? Overlook fifty five million slain innocent children? Ignore America’s betrayal of Israel, when it happens? He actually covered this question in two of the Daughter of Babylon prophetic verses in Jeremiah:             “Babylon will suddenly fall and be broken. Wail over   her! Get balm for her pain; perhaps she can be healed.               ‘We would have healed Babylon, but she cannot be           healed; let us leave her and each go to his own land,    for her judgment reaches to the skies, it rises as high as          the clouds.’ ” (Jeremiah 51:8-9)

I also began writing letters to the editor in response to news coverage or issues of the day; one of them, about Islam and women, was even published in the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung. After it ran, somebody from the neighborhood called my mother. “Tell your daughter to stay out of politics,” she said. But I was adamant that as a young woman and the daughter of guest workers I had a voice, too.

- We will have two weddings, my daughter's wedding and your wedding.. - Did you hit your head or something? We spoke that night and i remember telling you that I thank god my marriage is not soon! - Yes, I remember, then I thought about it and said to myself, why shouldn't you suffer too?!

What the reference to Babylon the Great riding on a beast with seven mountains, could refer to instead, however, is the fact that the earth has seven major land masses, or continents, containing various heights of mountains: Europe, Africa, Asia, North America, South America, Australia and Antarctica, each rising up out of the depths of the seas. Since the Daughter of Babylon/Babylon the Great is described as the end times ‘hammer of the whole earth,’ its depiction as riding on, or having power or authority over, the seven continents of the earth makes sense. No prior world empire could make this claim. The Bible only describes one entity, Babylon the Great, as riding upon the back of the whole world. Only America can claim such sweeping influence over the globe. In addition, since Revelation 17:3 and 17:7 refer to Babylon the Great sitting upon or riding on a beast, a dominant position of Babylon the Great is clearly being depicted.

Therefore, arguing that a modern day Daughter of Babylon arising again in Iraq will be destroyed because ancient Babylon conquered Jerusalem over 2,600 years ago, ignores the fact that God tells us in His inspired Word that He has already punished ancient Babylon for what it did to Israel.

Jeremiah has given us a major identity clue when he tells us that the Daughter of Babylon is a melting pot of “mingled” people. This clue wouldn’t apply to Ancient Babylon nor to a global Church denomination, even if it has members in many nations. The word Jeremiah used is translated as “mingled”, which doesn’t apply to scattered persons in many nations.

Jeremiah 51:13 provides another critical clue of the identity of the Daughter of Babylon: “You who live by many waters and are rich in treasures, your end has come, the time for you to be cut off.” Ancient Babylon, a quick review of a map will confirm, did not live by many waters, just the River Euphrates.

The statement in Jeremiah 51:13 that the Daughter of Babylon will “live by many waters” is similar to the statement in Revelation 17:1 that Babylon the Great “sits on many waters.” John later, in Revelation chapter 17, says the Angel who gave John the prophecies that he recorded, also told him “the waters you saw, where the prostitute (Babylon the Great) sits, are peoples, multitudes, nations and languages” (Revelation 17:15). By the same symbolism, “live by” and “sit on” many waters, we have two insights into the Daughter of Babylon: a.) the nation will be physically located “by many waters,” and b.) the nation will sit on, or be over in strength and authority, the many nations of the world.

Revelation Chapter 18 details the many goods which are sold through the Daughter of Babylon’s ports. The lengthy list appears in Revelation 18:11-13. Take any one of those goods listed by John two thousand years ago and ask this question: is any other nation the center for world trade in those commodities, except for the United States? Where else does one find exchanges as important as the New York Stock Exchange, the American Stock Exchange, the New York Mercantile Exchange, the New York Cotton Exchange, the Chicago Board of Trade, the Chicago Mercantile Exchange and numerous other exchanges for currency, coffee, sugar, tea, cocoa, soybeans, oats, wheat, cattle, hogs, lumber, diamonds, iron, ivory, marble, spices, cosmetics, steel, tin, zinc, rubber, etc. Those exchanges, through which the world’s commerce is passed daily, are all located in one country. They’re not in Iraq, nor in Rome.

In the balance of verse 51:7, though, Jeremiah gives us a further insight into the influence of the Daughter of Babylon on the people of the world:            “Intoxicating all the earth, the nations have drunk of her wine; therefore the nations are going mad.

tells us that the timing of the destruction of the Daughter of Babylon, which he sets forth in great detail in Jeremiah 50 and 51, will be after Israel is back in the land of Israel (Jeremiah 50:4,5), which officially occurred in 1948. From the dispersion of Israel in 132 AD until 1948 there could be no destruction of the Daughter of Babylon, because there was no nation of Israel.  But not all Jewish people live in Israel. Interestingly, God gives His Jewish people the same warning to flee from the Daughter of Babylon that He gives believers in His Son. Thus, the Daughter of Babylon must have a significant Jewish population.

light of the fact that America is the home of the second largest number of descendants in the world of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, God’s warnings to Zion to flee the Daughter of Babylon, along with the other seven warnings for Christians to flee, certainly appear to be His compassionate call on his people to avoid coming destruction and death. No other nation has as many Jewish residents as America. Though there are Catholics of Jewish heritage, the warnings addressed to Jews to flee from the Daughter of Babylon can’t really be made to apply to a denomination. On their face they are warnings to flee a nation, not a Church.

As we have just read, the betrayal of Israel is the ultimate reason given in scripture for the destruction of the end times “Mother of Abominations” nation, also labeled the Daughter of Babylon. Scripture discloses to us that this rich, powerful, influential, fallen end times nation will also persecute God’s people.

The Daughter of Babylon prophecies are all world events that will happen before the following prophetic events:            a.) the rise of the Antichrist and False Prophet;          b.) the second peace treaty with Israel;          c.) the Rapture of the Church;          d.) the seven year Tribulation period;          e.) the Second Coming of Christ.            The Daughter of Babylon will be removed from the world stage before the above listed prophetic events. In fact, it is the removal of this rich, powerful and influential end times nation that precipitates and leads to the rise of the Antichrist (see Chapter 12 for details). Until the rise of the Antichrist there won’t be a second peace treaty with Israel, nor the seven year Tribulation period which starts with the signing of the treaty. Thus, though escaping the destruction of America by way of a heavenly Rapture would be much preferable to living through it, scripture doesn’t support that option. God’s people, as throughout history, will live in perilous times, with accompanying persecution.

Clearly, He tells His own, Christians and Jews, to flee from the rich, powerful nation he calls the Daughter of Babylon, in order to preserve their lives from the coming destruction that the nation will have invited upon itself.

Jeremiah’s Chapters 50 and 51, which are devoted to the end times Daughter of Babylon, prophesy that the failure of the Daughter of Babylon to come to Israel’s defense when it is attacked, is the reason for God’s vengeance on the betraying nation:            “Since this is the vengeance of the LORD, take vengeance on her;     do to her as she has done to others.” (Jeremiah 50:15)            ‘The LORD has vindicated us; come, let us tell in Zion            what the LORD our God has done.’ (Jeremiah 51:10)            “Before your eyes I will repay Babylon and all who live         in Babylonia for all the wrong they have done in Zion,”         declares the LORD.

Nimrod was the founder of Babylon and of the black arts. “Nimrod had his people build a number of ziggurats (temple-towers) for religious purposes. These were claimed to be staircases from earth to heaven, and were used for satanic worship and occultic initiation. The

has 4.5% of the world’s population. Americans consume 19% of the world’s energy and 22% of the world’s total annual output of goods and services. How does God view the Daughter of Babylon’s living standards?            “You who live by many waters and are rich in treasures…” (Jeremiah 51:13)            “…the merchants of the earth grew rich from her excessive luxuries” (Revelation 18:3)            “Give her as much torture and grief as the glory and luxury she gave herself.” Revelation 18:7

The Daughter of Babylon verses prophesy a destroyed nation with an impotent military (Jeremiah 50:23; 30; 36; 51:3), unable to act after its massive national destruction.

Finland and England partially legalized abortion, under strictly limited circumstances, before Roe v. Wade, almost all nations that passed laws allowing abortion did so after America decreed it was legally permissible to abort. It would be accurate to say that America is the nation that culturally led the world into the age of abortion. As in many areas of the popular culture, the United States made the previously unacceptable, acceptable. Jeremiah describes the influence of the Daughter of Babylon on the world: “She made the whole earth drunk. The nations drank her wine; therefore they have gone mad.” (Jeremiah 51:7)

It’s not necessary to believe America is the Daughter of Babylon to believe that God will keep His word and demand America must make an accounting for the blood of fifty five million babies killed by abortion and that the accounting will be demanded from those who shed/allowed the shedding of the blood. There is a distinguishing characteristic between Jeremiah’s warnings to the residents of Jerusalem of his time to flee and his warnings to the future residents of the Daughter of Babylon to flee. God told the residents of Jerusalem at the time of Jeremiah that they would come back home after seventy years (Jeremiah 25:11; 29:10). The promise was fulfilled. Jeremiah’s warnings to God’s people who would someday live in the nation called the Daughter of Babylon never, not once, tell them that they will return home after the destruction of their home nation. On the contrary, Jeremiah, Isaiah, Psalm 137, and John all specifically, and unequivocally, say that the Daughter of Babylon will be destroyed and desecrated. “The land trembles and writhes, for the Lord’s purposes against Babylon stand—to lay waste the land of Babylon so that no one will live there” (Jeremiah 51:29). Thus, there will be no return of those who flee to go back to the Daughter of Babylon, unlike the residents of Jerusalem at the time of Jeremiah who did return home after seventy years, as He said they would.

previously noted, the nations of the European Union, after the fall of the worlds only superpower, could be re-named the European Muslim Union, or a similar name will be chosen conveying the new Muslim identity of the continent. Muslims have tried over the centuries, unsuccessfully, to conquer Europe. Therefore, moving to a European nation before the Daughter of Babylon falls could result in living in the “belly of the beast” and would be highly dangerous for a Christian or a Jewish immigrant. Recall that Daniel warned that the Antichrist will be “a king of fierce countenance” (Daniel 8:11) and “He will cause astounding devastation…He will destroy …the holy people” (Daniel 8:24).  The prophesied Antichrist will rule the conquered nations of the world with an iron fist. Fleeing to Europe would be an unwise move.

referring to the end times nation that is rich and powerful, and that will fall in a moment as “The Daughter of Babylon,” the Bible also refers to this end times nation as: BABYLON THE GREAT. Those capital letters are as the words are set forth in Revelation 17:5. John refers to Babylon the Great as “a mystery.” In Revelation 14:8 we read: A second angel followed and said, “Fallen! Fallen is Babylon the Great, which made all the nations drink the maddening wine of her adulteries.”  Then in Revelation 17:1-2: “One of the seven angels who had the seven bowls came and said to me, ‘Come, I will show you the punishment of the great prostitute, who sits on many waters. With her the kings of the earth committed adultery and the inhabitants of the earth were intoxicated with the wine of her adulteries’ (referring three verses later to “a mystery, BABYLON THE GREAT” [capitalization in original]).

the scholars who studied the verses prophesying a future ‘Daughter of Babylon’ were not only not in agreement as to the identity of the Daughter of Babylon, but also not in agreement that all of the verses mentioning her, referred to the same institution, nation or person.

if these prophetic verses in reality refer instead to the United States of America, is it possible for one to identify a “mother” of America, who will be ashamed and humiliated at what happens to that nation’s “daughter”? Not a very tough question, right? This nation’s Revolutionary War was not fought against any other nation except America’s “mother,” the nation of Great Britain. When history is reviewed, only a handful of nations can be said to have a “mother.” The United States is obviously one of those nations.

When the Lord gave to Jeremiah the revelation that he recorded, and we read, in the Book of Jeremiah, He only caused Jeremiah to use the phrase “Daughter of Babylon” twice, once in Jeremiah 50:42, and the second time in Jeremiah 51:33. This is not a casual or accidental use of the name. A close study of Chapters 50 and 51 reveals 99 verses, almost all of which could not apply to ancient Babylon, but do apply to the nation Jeremiah refers to as the Daughter of Babylon.

neither verse says the prophecies in Chapters 50 and 51 are about ancient Babylon. On the contrary, a close study of the 99 verses confirms they are for the future end days. Jeremiah 50:40, for example, states that the Daughter of Babylon will be destroyed “as God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah.” That type of dramatic destruction never happened to ancient Babylon, but it will happen to the Daughter of Babylon.

God also says the Daughter of Babylon is His “war club” with which nations and kingdoms are destroyed. (Jeremiah 51:20). To how many nations could the phrase “hammer of the whole earth” have ever applied? Well, certainly, the original Babylonian empire, the Medo-Persian empire, the Grecian empire, the Roman empire, the British empire, the Napoleonic empire, the Prussian empire, and others. At one point in time, each of these empires, and some other smaller empires, to varying extents, could have been described accurately as “the hammer” of at least a part of the earth.

we are the generation that has witnessed the re-budding of Israel, the prophesied fig tree (Matthew 21:18-32), the Daughter of Babylon events are infinitely more likely to occur in our generation, rather than, say 200 years from now. That would be several generations after the passing of the generation that saw Israel brought back miraculously, to its God-given land. Therefore, it may be legitimately assumed that the Daughter of Babylon prophecies are for our times, the times of a re-born State of Israel. Apart from America, is there any other nation, any other nation on the entire planet, which you could label as “the hammer of the whole earth,” without causing people to snicker? France can’t control its own streets. The Soviet Empire is no longer.

If one were to opine that the Daughter of Babylon is, in reality, in our times, a reference to a restored city on the site of ancient Babylon, concluding then that those restored mud and brick buildings are really what Jeremiah meant when he described the “hammer of the whole earth”, that would not be a currently defensible position. Neither the Vatican nor any other Christian denomination has a military budget. No Church or Christian denomination could conceivably be described today as “the hammer of the whole earth”.

The “hammer of the whole earth” will not be around to assert its powerful title and position; otherwise, how could the two legs of Daniel’s statute lay claim to being a world empire in the end times if it existed along with a competing “hammer of the whole earth”? We can legitimately conclude that the Daughter of Babylon, an end times world superpower, according to the Word of God, will be gone from the world stage before the fourth world empire based in Europe arises, and from which comes its leader, the Antichrist.

From a timing viewpoint, this means that waiting for the Antichrist to become known before fleeing the Daughter of Babylon would be foolish, and would not be a correct analysis of the timing of prophecy. What is most striking about these prophecies is not that in the end there will be a nation seen by the world as “the hammer of the whole earth.” What grabs one’s attention is that God tells us this world superpower with military authority over the earth will, at some point, be instantly destroyed.

Of all of the varied prophetic identity clues describing the Daughter of Babylon, this element, great national wealth, has the most pointers, as we see from the ten confirmatory verses. If these verses apply in our time, what are these facts?

This identity clue describes in detail a nation of luxurious wealth, but not a Church, even one with appreciable assets. Further, Revelation 18 describes the merchants of the world weeping over the loss of their major trading partner. Why will merchants weep and wail over the fall of a Church? The Daughter of Babylon is not a Church.

IDENTITY CLUE 6: YOU WHO LIVE ON MANY WATERS Jeremiah 51:13 provides another critical clue of the identity of the Daughter of Babylon: “You who live by many waters and are rich in treasures, your end has come, the time for you to be cut off.” Ancient Babylon, a quick review of a map will confirm, did not live by many waters, just the River Euphrates.

IDENTITY CLUE 7: CENTER OF WORLD COMMERCE Revelation Chapter 18 details the many goods which are sold through the Daughter of Babylon’s ports. The lengthy list appears in Revelation 18:11-13. Take any one of those goods listed by John two thousand years ago, and ask this question: is any other nation the center for world trade in those commodities, except for the United States?

Since the total amount of imported goods flowing onto our shores is over a Trillion dollars, we can understand why the world will be shaken to its core when the world’s largest buyer of its goods is no longer buying. Tens of millions of laborers across the world will be quickly thrown out of work, with all that will entail for their national economies. The world’s financial superpower, which made the merchants of the world “rich through her wealth” (Revelation 18:19), will one day, in a day, no longer be buying their goods. Chapter 10 examines the impact of the fall of the Daughter of Babylon on the world’s remaining nations, politically and financially.

all scripture must be considered together, as no verse is of ‘private interpretation.’ An examination of the several Daughter of Babylon verses shows that the verses describe a nation, with numerous cities. Isaiah warns the Daughter of Babylon that she will no longer be called the “queen of kingdoms” (Isaiah 47:5), indicating that she is more than a single community. Jeremiah warns that “the LORD Almighty, the God of Israel, says: “I will punish the King of Babylon and his land…” (Jeremiah 50:18), implying that more than a city will fall. Four verses later in 50:23 he notes “How desolate is Babylon among the nations!” He then settles the issue by recording God’s words to the Daughter of Babylon: “ I will kindle a fire in his cities, and it shall devour all ‘round about him ,”(Jeremiah 50:32b). Later in 51:43 he writes: “Her cities are a desolation, a dry land, and a wilderness.” That’s “cities,” plural. Needless to say, a city may have suburbs, but only nations have “cities.

IDENTITY CLUE 8: THE GREAT VOICE “Because the Lord hath spoiled Babylon, and destroyed out of her the great voice…” (Jeremiah 51:55) A distinguishing characteristic of the Daughter of Babylon, Jeremiah tells us, is that this end times nation has a “great voice,” albeit a great voice that the Lord will eventually allow to be silenced. The world, particularly since the successful conclusion of the Second World War in 1945, has listened, and listened carefully, to what America has to say.

In the balance of verse 51:7, though, Jeremiah gives us a further insight into the influence of the Daughter of Babylon on the people of the world: “Intoxicating all the earth, the nations have drunk of her wine; therefore the nations are going mad.” If America has gone “mad upon her idols” (Jeremiah 50:38c), why would anyone be surprised that the citizens of the world, besotted with the same tainted and corrupt American ‘entertainment,’ would also be “going mad”? (Jeremiah 51:7d) Why would we be surprised that the people of the world, viewing how we portray ourselves in the entertainment media, hold America in such low esteem?

Errant Israelites actually called on their idols to do what only God can do. How do the Daughter of Babylon’s idols, and her idol worshippers, end up? “Therefore behold, days are coming when I will punish the idols of Babylon; and her whole land will be put to shame, and all her slain will fall in her midst.” (Jeremiah 51:47)

IDENTITY CLUE 10: THE DAUGHTER OF BABYLON MOUNTS UP TO HEAVENS “Though Babylon should mount up to heaven, and though she should fortify the height of her strength, yet from me spoilers come unto her, saith the LORD.” (Jeremiah 51:53) This is a fascinating verse, in that it was written over 2,600 years before man perfected flight and could rise up to the heavens.

IDENTITY CLUE 11: WHERE THE NATIONS GATHER “…and the nations shall not flow together any more unto him” (Jeremiah 51:44c – KJV) “…and the nations will no longer stream to him” (Jeremiah 51:44c – NAS) In either translation, the identity clue verse says that before the fall of the Daughter of Babylon the nations of the world “flow together”, “stream to” this end times nation.
