Entrepreneurship, then, is behavior rather than personality trait. And its foundation lies in concept and theory rather than in intuition.
Peter F. Drucker (Innovation and Entrepreneurship)
The husband and wife who open another delicatessen store or another Mexican restaurant in the American suburb surely take a risk. But are they entrepreneurs? All they do is what has been done many times before. They gamble on the increasing popularity of eating out in their area, but create neither a new satisfaction nor new consumer demand. Seen under this perspective they are surely not entrepreneurs even though theirs is a new venture. McDonald’s, however, was entrepreneurship. It did not invent anything, to be sure. Its final product was what any decent American restaurant had produced years ago. But by applying management concepts and management techniques (asking, What is “value” to the customer?), standardizing the “product,” designing process and tools, and by basing training on the analysis of the work to be done and then setting the standards it required, McDonald’s both drastically upgraded the yield from resources, and created a new market and a new customer. This is entrepreneurship.
Peter F. Drucker (Innovation and Entrepreneurship)
Entrepreneurs are everywhere. You don’t have to work in a garage to be in a startup. The concept of entrepreneurship includes anyone who works within my definition of a startup: a human institution designed to create new products and services under conditions of extreme uncertainty. That means entrepreneurs are everywhere and the Lean Startup approach can work in any size company, even a very large enterprise, in any sector or industry. 2. Entrepreneurship is management. A startup is an institution, not just a product, and so it requires a new kind of management specifically geared to its context of extreme uncertainty. In fact, as I will argue later, I believe “entrepreneur” should be considered a job title in all modern companies that depend on innovation for their future growth. 3. Validated learning. Startups exist not just to make stuff, make money, or even serve customers. They exist to learn how to build a sustainable business. This learning can be validated scientifically by running frequent experiments that allow entrepreneurs to test each element of their vision. 4. Build-Measure-Learn. The fundamental activity of a startup is to turn ideas into products, measure how customers respond, and then learn whether to pivot or persevere. All successful startup processes should be geared to accelerate that feedback loop. 5. Innovation accounting. To improve entrepreneurial outcomes and hold innovators accountable, we need to focus on the boring stuff: how to measure progress, how to set up milestones, and how to prioritize work. This requires a new kind of accounting designed for startups—and the people who hold them accountable.
Eric Ries (The Lean Startup: How Today's Entrepreneurs Use Continuous Innovation to Create Radically Successful Businesses)
A Hedgehog Concept is a simple, crystalline concept that flows from deeply understanding the intersection of the following three circles: (1) what you’re deeply passionate about, (2) what you can be the best in the world at, and (3) what best drives your economic engine.
Jim Collins (BE 2.0 (Beyond Entrepreneurship 2.0): Turning Your Business into an Enduring Great Company)
Visualize a way to make a specific part of your world a better place for all those living in it and not just yourself. No matter how great your business concept is, it can only attain true commercial success if it is beneficial to more people than just you.

After years of commuting, my entrepreneurial father had the foresight to remodel our overbuilt three-story house and convert part of the basement into his dental practice. To work from one’s home was a new concept. Giving up his NY office made financial sense. He saved money on gasoline and gained more free time without his former need to commute.
Donna Maltz (Living Like The Future Matters: The Evolution of a Soil to Soul Entrepreneur)
Entrepreneurship isn't about starting an existing business or working on an existing idea or concept developed before but Entrepreneurship is all about understanding emerging challenges and providing solutions in a way that inspires innovation, creativity, and critical thinking.

I would have been trying to pitch a concept about my community to someone that most likely was not a part of that community.
Lamar Tyler (The Gatekeepers Are Gone: Hustle + Technology = Success)
The most constructive approach to critical feedback follows from the concept of leader as teacher. When you need to provide corrective or negative guidance, think not of yourself as a critic—or even a boss—but as a guide, mentor, and teacher. The process of critique should be an educational experience that contributes to the further development of the individual.
Jim Collins (BE 2.0 (Beyond Entrepreneurship 2.0): Turning Your Business into an Enduring Great Company)
Strategy is simply the basic methodology you intend to apply to attain your company’s current mission. “This is how we will achieve our mission.” That, in a nutshell, is strategy. There’s no mystery to it. It’s not a difficult concept.
Jim Collins (BE 2.0 (Beyond Entrepreneurship 2.0): Turning Your Business into an Enduring Great Company)
Redefining the paradigm of business benchmarking in a dynamic technological world, fosters new strategic concepts that will define how businesses will evolve to gain traction.

I believe that “Startup and Innovation didn’t come by developing just Incubation center, if we are really willing to look forward to innovative startup & venture then we need to fuse the concept of Entrepreneurship among the student’s hearts as a development rather than putting it as a syllabus or orders from higher officials. Also, We need to develop active participation of students, professor, and administration in Entrepreneurship Activities.

This unique role of novel cultural goods is related to the nature of these goods, their role in our lives, and their close association with our sense of self and identity—we are defined by, and attempt to define ourselves by, our tastes and preferences in music, literature, clothes, films, and other artistic works, but we are also eager to fit in with others in society. Due to the intense nature of consumers’ relationships with specific cultural goods, they are particularly resistant to accepting new goods without a broader, more intersubjective agreement on new conceptions of appropriateness and value. The introduction of new goods in a market, therefore, necessitates commentary that presents new conceptions of meaning and value, which, if accepted, change our preferences and beliefs.
Mukti Khaire (Culture and Commerce: The Value of Entrepreneurship in Creative Industries)
Art's relation to form, to the image, to the monistic fantasy that provoked its defense of its own dividedness is today, as Klein predicted, intermittent and embarrassed. There are modes of art now that resemble activism or protest, pure and simple; modes of art characterized by a refusal to structure themselves around subject-object relations. The visual itself, the image, is questioned as the normative framework of art. Art is often not a product, not a precious trace, not a singularity, but rahter a dynamic, multipular interaction that creates temporary publics who are public to one another. Art does not have to add anything to the world. for technology and entrepreneurship already do that. Art is an irreality opened up inside the world. Art is the refusal of complicity in any form of domination. You are not trapped by the collectivity, but you are not entirely free either, for freedom, even the anarchic mode of the artwork, is suspected to be a mode of evasion of responsibility. Art is a quasi-event: it is not there all the time (like a book), but it is also not there only at an assigned time (like a theatrical play). This has become a comparative advantage of art over the other arts, which have more trouble intervening in reality. Much art today is coordinated with long-term eschatological or emancipatory projects, with projects as such. Art aims at such positive goals as synchrony, participation, inclusion, and sympathy, concepts hard to reconcile with the once-prized, exclusive qualities of art.
Christopher S. Wood (A History of Art History)
But everyone who can face up to decision making can learn to be an entrepreneur and to behave entrepreneurially. Entrepreneurship, then, is behaviour rather than personality trait. And its foundation lies in concept and theory rather than in intuition.
Peter F. Drucker (Innovation and Entrepreneurship (Routledge Classics))
A comprehensive theory of entrepreneurship should address all the functions of an early-stage venture: vision and concept, product development, marketing and sales, scaling up, partnerships and distribution, and structure and organizational design. It has to provide a method for measuring progress in the context of extreme uncertainty.
Eric Ries (The Lean Startup: How Today's Entrepreneurs Use Continuous Innovation to Create Radically Successful Businesses)
All of that flowed from manifesting an idea that aligned with my purpose. By “manifesting,” I simply mean making the intangible tangible. Making a dream reality. Executing on a vision. It changed my life, this idea, but if you think about it, a pop-up restaurant is really just a catering event repackaged with creativity and purpose. However, because we live in a time when purpose-driven ideas have more power than ever before, the concept transcended its components.
Alan Philips (The Age of Ideas: Unlock Your Creative Potential)
Let me clearly say: presence has nothing to do with extroversion. Not only are introverts every bit as likely to demonstrate resonant presence, but research conducted in the last decade has also overwhelmingly shown us that introverts tend to have qualities that very effectively facilitate leadership and entrepreneurship, such as the capacity to focus for long periods of time; a greater resistance to the kinds of decision-making biases that doom entire organizations; less need for external validation of their self-concepts; and stronger listening, observing, and synthesizing skills. Susan Cain, Harvard Law School graduate and author of the culture-shifting bestseller Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can’t Stop Talking, explains, “By their nature, introverts tend to get passionate about one, two or three things in their life . . . [a]nd in the service of their passion for an idea they will go out and build alliances and networks and acquire expertise and do whatever it takes to make it happen.” One need not be loud or gregarious to be passionate and effective. In fact, a bit of quiet seems to go a long way toward being present.
