You are a cosmic flower. Om chanting is the process of opening the psychic petals of that flower.
Amit Ray (Om Chanting and Meditation)
The singing Sun the signing moon the singing stars and the singing galaxies are the direct expression of the divine word AUM.
Amit Ray (Om Chanting & Meditation)
Om is not just a sound or vibration. It is not just a symbol. It is the entire cosmos, whatever we can see, touch, hear and feel. Moreover, it is all that is within our perception and all that is beyond our perception. It is the core of our very existence. If you think of Om only as a sound, a technique or a symbol of the Divine, you will miss it altogether. Om is the mysterious cosmic energy that is the substratum of all the things and all the beings of the entire universe. It is an eternal song of the Divine. It is continuously resounding in silence on the background of everything that exists.
Amit Ray (Om Chanting and Meditation)
Om (AUM) the Divine song is at the same time Symmetry, Supersymmetry, broken Symmetry, and the unbroken Symmetry of Nature.
Amit Ray (Om Chanting & Meditation)
AUM or Om is not related to any religion because Om was practiced before the birth of all the religions of the world.
Amit Ray (Om Chanting & Meditation)
The ancient rishis discovered these laws of sound alliance between nature and man. Because nature is an objectification of Aum, the Primal Sound or Vibratory Word, man can obtain control over all natural manifestations through the use of certain mantras or chants.
Paramahansa Yogananda (Autobiography of a Yogi)
Om (AUM) is the truth of all truths, the light of all lights and the destroyer of all illusions.
Amit Ray (Om Chanting and Meditation)
Brahma emerged from the right side of Mahesa, Vishnu from the left and Nilarudra from his heart. In the beginning, intoning AUM, Sadasiva created the universe. Siva is Pranava and Pranava is Siva.
Ramesh Menon (SIVA PURANA)
Om is said to be a four-syllable word in Sanskrit, originally as AUM. A, the waking state. U, the dream state. M, the unconscious state. And the fourth, the silence that surrounds it—wherefrom everything arises and whereto everything inevitably returns. It is the silence that surrounds om that contains everything. It is the silence in your own life that contains and gives birth to everything you have, and everything you will ever need. It is this same silence we avoid, overlook, and disregard as nothing. The white space of life we abhor. We fill our lives with noise, drama, screens, people, and “stuff” to avoid the void that reminds us of our truth—that beyond flesh that once was not, and will inescapably become not, we are eternal.
Andrew Daniel
Practicing a thousand yoga postures, doesn't make a person spiritual, nor does uttering "aum" or "hallelujah" a thousand times - what makes a person spiritual, is plain ordinary everyday act of kindness.
Abhijit Naskar (Lives to Serve Before I Sleep)
I feel very strongly that all Japanese at that time had the idea drilled into them of 1999 being the end of the world. Aum renunciates have already accepted, inside themselves, the end of the world, because when they become a renunciate, they discard themselves totally, thereby abandoning the world. In other words, Aum is a collection of people who have accepted the end. People who continue to hold out hope for the near future still have an attachment to the world. If you have attachments, you will not discard your Self, but for Renunciates it's as if they've leaped right off the cliff. And taking a giant leap like that feels good. They lose something - but gain something in return.
Haruki Murakami (Underground: The Tokyo Gas Attack and the Japanese Psyche)
Neither bend from sorrows of the past, Nor be anxious about future or get excited in the present. Past, present and future are all manifested in AUM- the Self; Which combines all three energies, Material, mental and sleep, in unison.

Trust is a prerequisite for financial transacting.
Hendrith Vanlon Smith Jr.
I was also motivated by a strong sense of fear that we had still not begun to deal with, let alone solve, any of the fundamental issues arising from the gas attack. Specifically, for people who are outside the main system of Japanese society (the young in particular), there remains no effective alternative or safety net. As long as this crucial gap exists in our society, like a kind of black hole, even if Aum is suppressed, other magnetic force fields—"Aum-like" groups—will rise up again, and similar incidents are bound to take place.
Haruki Murakami (Underground: The Tokyo Gas Attack and the Japanese Psyche)
In January of that year, according to a report written in America by a Times reporter, scientists were seriously investigating the possibility that a mysterious seismic disturbance in the remote Australian outback almost four years earlier had been a nuclear explosion set off by members of the Japanese doomsday cult Aum Shinrikyo.
Bill Bryson (In a Sunburned Country)
Om is that eternal music which can smooth away all the creases of negativity in our Karmic database.
Banani Ray (Glory of OM: A Journey to Self-Realization)
Om is the presence which steals away. It steals away the ordinary mundane existence of strife, struggle and duality; it steals away anxiety, aggression, fear, grief and sorrow; it steals away the debris of anger, hatred, confusion and ignorance, to fill us with the nectar of joy, immortality and life eternal.
Banani Ray (Glory of OM: A Journey to Self-Realization)
There is no ‘Aum’ without Indian dharmas, as there is no ‘Allah’ without Islam, nor ‘Pull-up!’ without UK Garage, or two hands coming together to form a W without Wu Tang. That is to say: You cannot have meaning without knowledge of the environment from which it stems.
Nikesh Shukla (The Good Immigrant)
Mal’akh was dragging Langdon across the living room when the congregation declared, “Amen!” Amon, Mal’akh corrected. Egypt is the cradle of your religion. The god Amon was the prototype for Zeus … for Jupiter … and for every modern face of God. To this day, every religion on earth shouted out a variation of his name. Amen! Amin! Aum!
Dan Brown (The Lost Symbol (Robert Langdon, #3))
The dance posture of the God may be visualized as the symbolic syllable AUM which is the verbal equivalent of the four states of consciousness and their fields of experience. (A: waking consciousness; U: dream consciousness; M: dreamless sleep; the silence around the sacred syllable is the Unmanifest Transcendent.) The God is thus within the worshiper as well as without. p109
Joseph Campbell (The Hero With a Thousand Faces)
The Initiate is the spiritual son of Krishna, or rather of Vishnu, of whom Krishna is the main avatar. The world INRI is a modification of development of the Word of Krishna, AUM, a formula of major antiquity.
Laurence Galian (666: Connection with Crowley)
The ditties blend Japanese popular culture themes of saccharine, childlike goodness and viciously detached sadism, which Aum drew upon as it tapped the barely suppressed rage of the young against their society.
Robert Jay Lifton (Destroying the World to Save It: Aum Shinrikyo, Apocalyptic Violence, and the New Global Terrorism)
When we consider further the social and psychological roots of the collective urge to kill the world, we are likely to see more of ourselves in it and to begin to think of such groups as something of a dark "cultural underground" of our own society. We are also likely to discover that whatever renders our society more decent and more inclusive in its benefits is likely to undermine the totalistic impulse to destroy everything.
Robert Jay Lifton (Destroying the World to Save It: Aum Shinrikyo, Apocalyptic Violence, and the New Global Terrorism)
The incident does not mean that most Japanese were not appalled by Aum. It does suggest that many young adults viewed their society as so corrupt and hypocritical that any degree of mockery, if not violence against it, was justified.
Robert Jay Lifton (Destroying the World to Save It: Aum Shinrikyo, Apocalyptic Violence, and the New Global Terrorism)
An amount of bot tox the size of the dot over this i would be enough to easily kill ten people. Bot tox is a nerve agent. It is one hundred thousand times more toxic than Sarin, the nerve gas that the Aum Shinrikyo sect released in the Tokyo subway.
Richard Preston (The Cobra Event)
They may come to feel that only the world’s death can enable them to overcome their own inner deadness.
Robert Jay Lifton (Destroying the World to Save It: Aum Shinrikyo, Apocalyptic Violence, and the New Global Terrorism)
These amazing religions talk about a vibrational sound that created the universe, an energy they call ‘Om’ or ‘Aum’. Scientists, on the other hand, can’t put their finger on exactly what created the universe, or what it’s made of, and may even call it ‘nothingness’. Whatever you like to call it, it’s real, it’s there and we all know it. We can feel it because we’re part of it.
Kyle Gray (Raise Your Vibration: 111 Practices to Increase Your Spiritual Connection)
Consider just one of those stories that did make it into the New York Times in 1997, though buried away in the odd-sock drawer of Section C.
There is no Source above, away, distant from your form, awaken from this dream you've had since the day you're born The Truth is that there is no "you" , no place away that's "home", you are the Source, condensed and shaped into a grosser form Your breath is Aum, it births new worlds, new miracles, new ways, depending on the way your heart vibrates, how much it weighs You are the prayer and response, for only what you feel will come to life, will manifest, your thought will make it real The home is here, you are the Source, stop asking from outside, step into the Truth you are let opposites collide
Petra Poje - Keeper of The Eye
I made it when I was young, by my standards, after years of playing on various harps. I shaped its pieces out of Ymris oak beside night fires in far, lonely places where I heard no man’s voice but my own. I carved on each piece the shapes of leaves, flowers, birds I saw in my wanderings. In An, I searched three months for strings for it. I found them finally; sold my horse for them. They were strung to the broken harp of Ustin of Aum, who died of sorrow over the conquering of Aum. Its strings were tuned to his sorrow, and its wood was split like his heart. I strung my harp with them, matching note for note in the restringing. And then I returned them to my joy.” Morgon

AUM is the sound of oneness, the sound that unites us all. Chanting AUM connects humans back to their Cosmic Source in a real way.
Harrison Graves (The Mystical Chakra Mantras: How To Balance Your Own Chakras With The Yoga of Sound)
The agents of imperial demise would certainly be backed up by military power—the Chinese have never wavered in that view—but the agents would be many and varied: economic, legal, public relations—and electronic sabotage. The success of George Soros’s then recent speculative attack on the currencies of several East Asian nations impressed but appalled the Chinese (who have pegged their own currency to the dollar in part to discourage such tactics). Soros and his traders had driven down the value of these currencies, forcing them into line with their true worth! But that point was lost on Qiao and Wang, as it was lost on noncapitalists (i.e., most people) around the world, who saw only economic chaos in Asia created by Western capitalists. To the authors of Unrestricted Warfare, these attacks were a form of economic terrorism on par with bin Laden’s bombings of U.S. embassies in East Africa, Aum Shinrikyo’s sarin gas attack in the Tokyo subway, and the depredations of malicious hackers on the Internet. They “represent semi-warfare, quasi-warfare, and sub-warfare, that is, the embryonic form of another kind of warfare.” Such warfare knows no boundaries, and against it, borders have no meaning.

As of August 31, 2014, only 28% of AUM (asset under management) of all mutual funds in India is in equity, balanced and ELSS schemes, i.e. in high risky securities. Income funds (medium risk) have 46% of all AUM and liquid or money market funds (low risk) have about 24% of AUM. The remaining 2% of AUM is for investment in gold, government securities, overseas funds, etc. AUM is the total market value of all financial assets under a MF or a MF scheme managed on behalf of its clients or investors.
Jigar Patel (NRI Investments and Taxation: A Small Guide for Big Gains)
Mutual Fund Investments are not transparent: In India, SEBI regulates MFs. The money market MFs are regulated by RBI. There are restrictions as to the sponsor, board of trustees, asset management company, custodian, registrar, dealing with brokers, etc. The investment objective, fund manager, entry and exit loads, AUM, expense ratio and other terms and conditions are already known and provided in the SAI. Also, every MF scheme is required to publish a fact sheet on a quarterly/monthly basis that includes all the important facts that an investor would need to know about the scheme including portfolio holdings, past returns, performance ratios and dividends. Also, information relating to what’s in (bought) and what’s out (sold) by mutual funds is also available.
Jigar Patel (NRI Investments and Taxation: A Small Guide for Big Gains)
Also, the exit load varies for different mutual fund schemes. SEBI also regulates the fund management fees (i.e. recurring expenses), which is charged based on the AUM of the MF scheme and varies from 1.75% to 2.5%. Investors can reduce the expense ratio by 0.5% - 0.7% to as low as 1.30% by investing in MF using direct plan option.

In fact, the poor are generally too busy making ends meet to be the vanguard of any revolution. History shows that terrorism is a largely bourgeois endeavor, from the Russian anarchists of the late nineteenth century to the German Marxists of the Baader-Meinhof Gang of the 1970s, to the apocalyptic Japanese terror cult Aum Shinrikyo of the 1990s. Islamist terrorists, it turns out, are no different.
Peter L. Bergen (United States of Jihad: Who Are America's Homegrown Terrorists, and How Do We Stop Them?)
Certainly, several of our most sensational cults—the Charles Man-son Family, Jim Jones’s Peoples Temple, and Marshall Herff Applewhite’s Heaven’s Gate—take on a different aspect in the wake of Aum. The same is true of the cultic milieu of the present-day extreme right, where fantasies of using weapons of mass destruction to transform and purify the world are powerfully present.
Robert Jay Lifton (Losing Reality: On Cults, Cultism, and the Mindset of Political and Religious Zealotry)
Stop kneeling before lifeless images for there to be sanity and serenity - the world is not a tiny place that can be helped by some imaginary gods and goddesses - it needs living gods and goddesses - it needs you - it needs your tangible involvement in the welfare of the people, not mere amens and aums.
Abhijit Naskar (Servitude is Sanctitude)
Umberto Eco (Foucault’s Pendulum)

In Vedic traditions, Aum/Om is believed to be the primordial sound wave.
Ujjwal Arora (Healing Sole to Soul)
The word Amen is a simplified version of the mantra AUM. It is also connected with creation, but is more of a conclusion. It is like a period at the end of a sentence. Judaism, Islam and Christian prayers end with Amen. The inner meaning of Amen is “In the name of God, so be it.
Choa Kok Sui (Achieving Oneness with Higher Soul)
Indeed,” Master Ohm, a lean, quiet man whose even voice never changed, said thoughtfully. “Perhaps in the history of the realm too little attention has been paid to Hed. There is still a riddle without an answer. If Peven of Aum had asked you that, with all your great knowledge you might not be here today.

Sonnet Krantistani To hell with fear, To hell with insecurity! Stand up with conviction, To hell with serenity! Enough with pretend revolution, Enough with jungly aum shanti! For once in your life grow up o soldier, Breaking all biases become krantistani. Your footsteps will strike terror in terrorists, Your voice will give chills to the divisionists. Turn your existence into a beacon of help, Possess this world with acts of love and uplift. Killing terrorists and tyrants don't end inhumanity. Oust them all, then irrigate the soil with solidarity. Kundalini pranayama Concentrate on the mooladhara chakra at the base of the spinal column, which is triangular in shape and is the seat of the kundalini shakti when you practice the following. Close your right thumb into the nostril. Inhale through the left nostril whilst slowly counting three Aums. Imagine you draw the prana in with the atmospheric air. Then cover the left nostril with your right hand tiny and ring fingers, and hold the breath for 12 Aums. Give the current directly into the triangular lotus, the mooladhara chakra, down the spinal column. Imagine the nerve-current hitting the lotus, and the kundalini awaken. Then exhale slowly and count six Aums through the right nostril. Repeat the process, starting with an inhalation from the right nostril, using the same units, and having the same imagination and feeling as mentioned above. This pranayama is fast to awaken the kundalini. Do this 3 times in the morning and 3 times in the evening. Gradually and carefully increase the number and the time according to your strength and ability. The important thing in this pranayama is focus on the mooladhara chakra. Kundalini will be rapidly awoken if the level of concentration becomes high, and the pranayama is frequently performed.

OM CHANTING Various studies have shown that OM chanting deactivates the limbic part of the brain responsible for our basic emotions (fear, pleasure, anger) and our impulses (hunger, sex, dominance and care of offspring). Since the effectiveness of OM chanting is associated with the experience of vibrations around the ears, scientists have suggested that these sensations are transmitted through the auricular branch of the vagus nerve. As the vagus nerve branches off into the inner ear and larynx, controlling the opening and closing of the vocal cords and tone of the sound, it appears that this is stimulated during the vocalization of the O and M sounds. In addition, by performing chanting in exhalation, the vagus nerve is activated in its role as manager of the parasympathetic system. In addition, chanting, by facilitating the lengthening of the exhalation, further amplifies the effect on the parasympathetic system. This is why this practice helps to calm and relax the body and mind. -Find a quiet place to sit comfortably. -A good position is to sit with your legs crossed and your back straight. -Wear comfortable cotton clothes that do not tighten any part of your body. All body channels should be free and comfortable. Place the palm of your right hand (facing upwards) on the palm of your left hand at navel level. Close your eyes for a few minutes and relax your mind and body. Slowly feel the vibrations that occur in every part of your body. When the vibrations become more intense, start breathing deeply. Hold your breath for a second and then slowly exhale. Initially count to 7 as you exhale. This ought to be duplicated thrice. As you exhale the third time, sing "oooooooooo..." Feel the vibrations in your abdomen (and under your chest). After exhaling, relax for 2 seconds. Breathe in again (slow, deep breaths). As you exhale sing "ooooo..." and feel the vibrations in your chest and neck. After exhaling, relax for 2 seconds. Inhale again (long, deep breath). As you exhale, sing "mmmmmmmm...". Feel the vibrations in your head and neck. After exhaling, relax for 2 seconds. Inhale again and as you exhale say "oooommmm..." or "aaauuummm...". About 80% of the sound should be "aaauuu..." and 20% should be "mmmm...". Repeat the previous steps 3 times (you can do it up to 9 times). After the Om meditation, relax and concentrate on your regular breathing for about 5 minutes. TIPS -Wearing white clothes and being in a white environment will improve your experience. But the rule of white is not fundamental. -A good place could be a quiet room or a garden with shade. Your eyes, ears or other sensory organs should not be disturbed. -Do not consume alcohol for at least 8-10 hours before meditation. -It would be better not to eat or drink anything for at least 2 hours before meditation. The body's channels should not be blocked in order to achieve maximum results. This applies especially to the digestive system. -The best times for this meditation are early in the morning or late at night. -For beginners, singing "aum" can cause dizziness. It is recommended to proceed slowly and try to learn one step at a time. In this way you will prepare body and mind for the next step. -It is very important to open your eyes slowly when your breathing has stabilized. -If you cannot sit on the floor, you can try sitting on a bed or a chair. The most important thing is to keep your back straight. -Doing this kind of meditation in a group brings more peace and harmony to all members than doing it alone.

Aum Amen Assalaam (The Interfaith Sonnet) Jo bole so nihal - honest, brave 'n nondual! Ain't no human run by divisionism. You may say Merhaba, or Hallelujah, Smiling I respond, Walaikum Assalam. Every human greeting is an act of peace, Language differs, not the emotion. Yet we keep bickering over language, Overlooking all loving unison. Chag sameach say some of us, Some say happy holidays! Across the words, into the heart, We'll find the flame of happiness. Underneath every version of felicidad, there is a sense of illumination. Aim of all Aum and Amen - is unification.
Abhijit Naskar (Mukemmel Musalman: Kafir Biraz, Peygamber Biraz)
Existence, consciousness and bliss are the three longings of the human heart. * * * Bliss [is attained by being] able to direct all his attention inward. He becomes capable of satisfying all the wants of his heart and can thereby gain contentment, Ananda, the Real Bliss. Consciousness of all the modifications of Nature up to its first and primal manifestation, the Word (Aum) and even of his own Real Self, gradually appears. Existence [involves knowing the difference between what's real;' what really exists and what does not. When man] withdraws all the developments of Ignorance, in this way, freed from the control of this creation of Darkness, he comprehends his own Self as Indestructible and Ever-Existince Real Substance. So Sat, the Existence of Self, comes to light.

All roads lead to Aum (oneness).
Abhijit Naskar (Vande Vasudhaivam: 100 Sonnets for Our Planetary Pueblo)
All Roads Lead to Aum (The Sonnet) God needs no man, Because (hu)man is God. God is a mythical lie, Godliness is not. Oneness is Godliness, Godliness is oneness. World without oneness, is a manifestation mindless. Oneness is the Noor, Oneness is Kabbalah. Oneness is Aum, Oneness is Nirvana. All roads lead to Aum, Whether you speak sanskrit, latin or klingon. Light up the noor at the altar of heart, Finally as true sapiens a common ape will dawn.

Assets Under Management” Advisors Many people claim that the best advisor is one who is paid as a function of your account size (i.e., your “assets under management” or “AUM”). AUM fees tie the advisor’s interests to yours—or so goes the claim. What they really do is tie the advisor’s interests to your account size, not to your overall financial well-being. For the most part, this is not a problem, but it does present a conflict of interests whenever the most appropriate thing for you to do is liquidate a part of your portfolio (for example, to pay down your mortgage, delay claiming Social Security, or buy a piece of real estate).

In the repetition of AUM there are four stages. ‘A’kãra, ‘U’kãra, ‘M’akãra and there is a silence before the next repetition and meditating upon the silence is Vedãntic meditation. The teacher emphasises the grasping of that silence, which is Awareness - the Ãtmã, the Self. The practice and success in the effort requires the grace of the Lord, guru and shãstra and the teacher grants his blessings to the student for success to cross over from samsara to the shores of Immortal Brahman, which is beyond ignorance.

It is by the wonder of the five-syllabled mantra that the worlds, the Vedas, the rishis, the dharma, the universe and the devas exist. AUM Namah Sivayah is the seed of all the living.

In India, music as well as painting and the drama is considered a divine art. Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva—the Eternal Trinity—were the first musicians. The Divine Dancer Shiva is scripturally represented as having worked out the infinite modes of rhythm in His cosmic dance of universal creation, preservation and dissolution, while Brahma accentuated the time-beat with the clanging cymbals and Vishnu sounded the holy mridanga or drum. Krishna, an incarnation of Vishnu, is always shown in Hindu art with a flute, on which he plays the enrapturing song that recalls to their true home the human souls wandering in maya delusion. Saraswati, Goddess of Wisdom, is symbolised as performing on the vina, mother of all stringed instruments. The Sama Veda of India contains the world’s earliest writings on musical science. The foundation stone of Hindu music is the ragas or fixed melodic scales. The six basic ragas branch out into 126 derivative raginis (wives) and putras (sons). Each raga has a minimum of five notes: a leading note (vadi or king), a secondary note (samavadi or prime minister), helping notes (anuvadi, attendants) and a dissonant note (vivadi, the enemy). Each one of the six basic ragas has a natural correspondence with a certain hour of the day, season of the year and a presiding deity who bestows a particular potency. Thus (1) the Hindole Raga is heard only at dawn in the spring, to evoke the mood of universal love; (2) Deepaka Raga is played during the evening in summer, to arouse compassion; (3) Megha Raga is a melody for midday in the rainy season, to summon courage; (4) Bhairava Raga is played in the mornings of August, September, October, to achieve tranquillity; (5) Sri Raga is reserved for autumn twilights, to attain pure love; (6) Malkounsa Raga is heard at midnights in winter, for valour. The ancient rishis discovered these laws of sound alliance between nature and man. Because nature is an objectification of Aum, the Primal Sound or Vibratory Word, man can obtain control over all natural manifestations through the use of certain mantras or chants.

Lifting the Vibration of Your Mental Field Sound In your meditations use the vibration of sacred chants to create a force field of sound vibration in and around you. The AUM chant is very powerful and has been used by initiates for centuries. Start by breathing in. Very slowly make the sound of A and gradually merge it with the sound of U. Hold that sound and then bring in the M sound. When you have finished keep your eyes closed and feel the vibration of the sound all around you. Start again, repeating the chant. You can do this for as long as you like. Purchase a Tibetan Monk Chanting compact disc or tape. Play it as you meditate. To raise the mental energy in your home, have it playing throughout your house for a day. If there have been arguments in your home or you have been feeling a little down at home, play the sounds on repeat throughout the house until you start to feel the energy lift. You may find that other types of music have a similar effect. Always choose what works for you. For example, the beat of tribal drums, the high notes of an opera singer, or the sacred Aboriginal sounds of the didgeridoo. Use these sounds often as they are exceptional tools for raising mental vibration.
