Those who do come will be richly rewarded with rock bottom prices and fascinating local traditions. Tana Toraja translates to 'The Land of Heavenly Kings' and its inhabitants are a predominantly Christian ethnic group known as the Torajans. Of their many rituals it is the spectacular death ceremonies that really stand out. The funeral is treated as the most important ceremony in the life of a Torajan as it is believed they continue to look over and protect their families after death. As such it can take many months of planning and involves the purchases of buffalos and pigs which are sacrificed at the main event. The funeral season takes place during July and August but it's a fascinating destination year round and Rantepao, the cultural centre is a good starting point.

Early the following year, Arizona steamed from its home port at San Pedro to Hawaii to participate in Army-Navy Grand Joint Exercise No. 4. It was a mouthful of a name for a round of war games that simulated an attack on Oahu from “enemy” aircraft carriers lurking to the north. When the American Navy built its first installations within months of annexation, they were at Honolulu, not Pearl Harbor, because of the difficult channel access. Finally, in 1908, Congress authorized dredging the channel entrance and constructing a dry dock, as well as adding accompanying shops and supply buildings. Naval Station Pearl Harbor was officially dedicated in August 1919. The Army and Navy jointly acquired Ford Island in the harbor’s center for shared airfield facilities that same year.9

The extraordinary natural features of the Caucasus cross all political boundaries, and its extraordinary landscape and outstanding biodiversity are its often-hidden glory. Foreign visitors are awestruck by these landscapes, still far less developed than the alpine zones of western Europe. The museum also features the Approaching American Abstraction exhibit, which showcases the various methods of abstraction since the 1950s. The Sea Ranch is a current exhibit that runs through April 28, 2019. The exhibit is from the 1960s Northern California Modernist movement and combines architecture, the environment, and idealism. The work of photographer Louis Stettner will be featured until May 26, 2019. Stettner’s work combines American street photography with French humanism. SFMOMA will debut the Andy Warhol – From A to B and Back Again exhibit on May 19, 2019. It is slated to run until September 2, 2019. The exhibit will cover three floors and will offer a dozen pieces unique to SFMOMA. The Chronicles of San Francisco will run from May 23, 2019, through April 27, 2010, and features the work of artist JR. The exhibit is the culmination of two months of on-the-street interviews the artist conducted with almost 1,200 people. The snap + share exhibit will run from March 30 – August 4, 2019, and focuses on the impact of photographs in our daily lives. SFMOMA is open Friday through Tuesday from 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM and Thursdays from 10:00 AM – 9:00 PM. Adult admission is $25.00, with senior admission at $22.00.
