Las Vegas, NV – The fight that everyone has been waiting for has finally been announced by the UFC as they prepare for UFC 323, where Merab Dvalishvili will finally get to fight Petr Yan for the second time.
This 5 round bantamweight battle will take place on October 18 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas and will finally settle one of the most interesting rivalries in the bantamweight division and most likely get the winner of the fight a title shot.
The first fight took place in March 2021, where Yan was dominating the fight until he was DQ’d for an illegal knee in the 5th round. After that fight, Yan and Dvalishvili have been on a collision course as both are at the top of the 135 pound division. Recently Dvalishvili has been a fan favorite and is considered to be one of the most methodical and determined fighters in the world.
Dvalishvili has a record of 17-4 and currently is on a 10 fight win streak, where he has gone on to defeat elite fighters in the division such as champions Jose Aldo and top ranked fighter Marlon Moraes. However, a fight that everyone is waiting for is the one where he fights Petr Yan because everyone is almost certain that if he wins that fight, he’ll get a title shot.
Yan (17-5), a previous bantamweight champion with hold a remarkable boxing skill and remarkable technique has gone through a solid line of and his tough rival since the first meeting with Dvalishvili. Indeed, Yan has lost three in his last four bouts, and each of them by a frustratingly narrow and disputed score. But, still in the eyes of many, he is categorized as one of the most technically possessive fighters in the globe. Obtaining the victory in the following match will make his fast fallen career skyrocket again and drive him toward the title again.
