Maybe if we stopped trying to achieve movie standards of greatness, we'd be happy with what we have.
Amber L. Johnson (Puddle Jumping (Puddle Jumping, #1))
If I wasn't an actress I'd want to be a writer or else find a job where I got to read books and watch movies all day, everyday, for the rest of my life.
Amber Benson
It really is a shame more movies aren’t like real life. Maybe then we wouldn’t have such high expectations and feel let down by our own existence so much.

A girl in my high school once told me I had pretty eyes. I was puffed up over that until I was like thirty. You wouldn’t believe how stupid guys get over compliments on our looks, I was vain as. But my eyes weren’t anything special—light brown, not even hazel, yellow on a sunny day. The morning after the lights went out they lighted to dark amber, then they went the colour of new lager, and on the third day they were gold. P—said I looked like a Māori TV Pink Panther. C— said I looked like Edward Cullen from that old Twilight movie, if Edward Cullen had the body of a history teacher. A— said I looked cool. He was the only one.
Tamsyn Muir (Nona the Ninth (The Locked Tomb, #3))
think we put a lot of pressure on ourselves to be excited about these things. That they’re defining moments we cannot miss out on because they’re once in a lifetime. While I think memories are good to have, the buildup is usually better than the actual event. Maybe if we stopped trying to achieve movie standards of greatness, we’d be happy with what we have.

The movie is wonderful to watch when I’m not in it.
Amber Tamblyn (Any Man)
I watch and try not to think. Everything is a film: a fly on the windshield trying to get in, a delivery truck parked in front of whatever to deliver something I will never savor, a plane carrying flesh messages across the sky. The movie is wonderful to watch when I’m not in it.
Amber Tamblyn (Any Man)
I guess. I just want to look as old as I am, instead of getting carded for movies.
Kristin Cast (Amber Smoke (The Escaped #1))
Helen Carter gazed in bewilderment at her reflection in the mirror. Her deathly pale cheeks were marbled by rivulets of tears mingled with makeup, and her exotic, amber-colored eyes gleamed strangely below thick layers of dark eye shadow, making her look like a silent movie star.
Corina Bomann (The Moonlit Garden)
The Caribbean is still an exciting destination. I have been to just about every notable island surrounding this sea and have yet to be bored. Some of the islands are administered by other countries like Saint Martín; some are independent countries such as Cuba, Haiti and the Dominican Republic. The languages differ from island to island and include English, French, Spanish, Dutch Haitian Creole and Papiamento although English is understood on most islands. This time I returned to the Dominican Republic, an island nation that I first visited when Santo Domingo was called Ciudad Trujillo in 1955 and have returned numerous times. I have also been to Haiti the country that shares the Island of Hispaniola with the Dominican Republic and I have stood at the mountainous border dividing the two countries. Driving around the country offers magnificent views with every turn in the road. On this visit I enjoyed the northern Atlantic coast named the Amber Coast because of the amount of amber found there. The primary site along the northern coast is La Cordillera Septentrional. The amber-bearing stones named clastic rocks are usually washed down the steep inclines along with sandstone and other debris and are even found in deep water at the end of the run. The Amber Coast of the Dominican Republic has mostly low mountains and beautiful beaches. Overlooking the city of Puerto Plata is Mount Isabel de Torres, which is covered by dense jungles but can be ascended by a cableway. Some of these jungle areas were used as sites for the movie Jurassic Park. A new 30 acre tourist port for Carnival Cruise Lines has been constructed in Amber Cove at a cost of $85 Million. It is one of the newest destinations to visit in the Caribbean and well worth the effort.

Family. The word echoed in my mind, and I felt my canines retract. The bloodlust nipped at my heels, begging me to succumb, to let my beast off the chain. Family. The word was like a pulse, reminding me that this wasn’t me. Each beat of my heart was for her, and remembering that she existed brought me back from the edge of madness. Family. This time the word was wrapped in the sound of my sister’s laughter, and with it came the memory. Gabby shook her head, laughing at me as I tried and failed to land a piece of popcorn in her mouth. “You have terrible aim for a superbeing.” She giggled as she threw a handful at me. I kicked my foot out, hitting her softly on the leg. “Hey, I’m the trained killer here!” She burst out laughing. “Please! You cried at the end of The Locket.” “That was a sad movie. It had a sad ending. You just pick terrible movies.

Where are we? This isn’t the way to the barbershop.” “No, it’s not.” “Are you taking a roundabout way? Are you trying to shake Gregory in case he’s following?” She craned to glance behind them, wondering if one of the cars tailing them held her ex-boyfriend. Was he even now plotting to ram them and turn them into road kill? Would he drive them off a bridge? Open fire? Or… She slammed the door shut on her overactive imagination that ran through too many movie plots for a paranoid mind to handle. “We’re not actually going to the hair shop.” His words penetrated, and she diverted all her focus to Arik. His amber gaze briefly met her own, striking her anew with his good looks—and the smug smirk he wore. “What do you mean we’re not going there? Exactly where are you taking me?

Well, Misty Hoyt,” Sergei grinned. “Why don’t you go up there on the stage and strut your stuff? I’d like to see you pole dance.” “What?” “Pole dance.” “Oh, pole dance,” I mumbled, slurping back saliva. I figured I would hardly be able to stand up, let alone pole dance. I had never pole danced in my whole life though Misty Hoyt had pole danced and had admitted as much at the bar to Andrei, but I hadn’t had time to catch up with all of Misty’s skills. This was definitely a hole in the planning of my backstory – giving me experience, as a pole dancer, I would not be able to fake. I would look utterly grotesque too, tattooed as I was; the vanity of self-consciousness never dies – I shuddered at the thought of me tattooed and pierced among those buff, golden, perfectly beautiful girls. Whatever! I had to do it. “Okay,” I said, “You are the boss, Mister Sergei.” I managed somehow to stand up, wobble, and then make my way, through tables and guests, and get over to the runway, and climb up onto it. It seemed very high. I weaved, tottered this way and that, and then somehow, I pulled myself together. I pole danced with one of the pole dancers – me weaving around one pole, and she around the other. She was the petite, fine-featured golden Vietnamese girl I had noticed before. I’d seen movies of pole dancing, so I managed to fake it; and then I was the tattooed pierced clown, a freakish waif, I didn’t really have to be very good. Then – I’m foggy about actually when – the golden Vietnamese girl and I were ordered to make love on the runway in the bright lights. The strobe lights had stopped. The other pole dancers had disappeared into the crowd. And now, except for the spotlights on the two of us, the whole place was subdued in dull amber light, a sort of nightclub twilight. The music went down, and it was quiet. I thought maybe I was hallucinating the silence. But no, it was real.
Gwendoline Clermont (Gwendoline Goes Underground)
She’s read basically every book in the world and looks like a movie star, but she only dates women. I think that’s pretty brilliant,
Amber Sparks (And I Do Not Forgive You: Stories and Other Revenges)
You mean you went further in a theater?” “Hell yeah. Amber loves to give me blowjobs during the movie.
S. Wolf (Sex Zombies)
I’d be a liar if I said I did not still have feelings for the woman who ripped her heart out to save me, her sister, and the world. The one who will risk everything for someone she cares about without ever thinking of herself. The one who likes loud music and overly sweetened treats and shares everything with me. The woman who ties promises to her small finger. The one who pretends she hates happy movies because she doesn’t think she can ever have her own happy ending. The woman who wields and breathes fire on a whim and loves flowers even when she tries to deny it. I have seen the best of you, Dianna, and now I have seen the worst. I am not leaving. You do not scare me.
Amber V. Nicole (The Throne of Broken Gods (Gods and Monsters, #2))
I wasn’t a cute, petite little thing like every movie or book craves. I was lacking in the breast department, but made up for it in my hips. They were the only curvy part of me.
